The priority system and members ballot. It's not fair!

I'm a season ticket holder on 639 points which puts me in the bottom priority of season ticket holders for most games. I failed in my attempt to get a season ticket in the 2014/15 season but then got one luckily for the 2015/16 season. I go to a few away games each season. For many away games I just can't get tickets despite trying. What seems to still cost me is that I didn't get a season ticket in the 2014/15 season amd therefore lost out on 50 priority points.

What really gets me is that members have a chance of getting tickets for some games in a ballot which I can't enter. In my view no member should have more chance  of getting a ticket for a game than me.

When are we going to move on from a priority system that started in 2014? My son who is 13 years old and a season ticket holder will never be a high priority season ticket holder. Its just not possible as he was 1 when this system began. The priority system is ageist against younger fans. There is no way a younger fan can be a higher priority of season ticket holder when you do the Maths.

The priority system should be done on the last 5 years for example. When is this system going to change?

You have a good point however the club want to push benefits of buying membership and too many ‘woke’ activists support the line. Yes let the Trust know but also write to the club directly voicing your opinion. Encourage more to do so the majority of season ticket holders are too silent. This topic will arise this season for changes next year. Watch out attend and be vocal at 90 minute sessions on the subject. If you don’t fight and others with like minded needs you will be steam rollered by those with an agenda.

People have been angling for changes to the system for over half a decade. The club don't care otherwise they would have made changes by now. The current system favours the demographic of people that they want to get away tickets, so they are resisting changing it.

There were some mentions of it in some of the FCC notes and then making considerations, expect it to take a few more years yet I should think.

Exactly what global says, trust have consistently supported the proposed reform of the system. The club put it off for a year after a survey heavily supported the system stating the same. People need to take every chance to make their voice heard on this to push it through quicker than ever

It is really odd that 110 points separate the priority bands then there’s 650 points worth lumped in the free for all.

I agree.  I've had a season ticket for 8 years and I have no priority over the people who bought theirs a few weeks ago.    Unless the system changes, or huge numbers of longer holding STHs fail to renew, I will literally never move up the priority bands.   Attending the matches I can get tickets for just doesn't add enough points to make a meaningful difference.

Agreed as said to others you need to write and complain, participate when the club opens up engagement and make proposals for change. Fight to expand the priority bands don’t let the oh we have to attract the kids and new fans lobbyists win. Fight for what you want.

I’ve followed the Club home and away now for over 30 years and admittedly benefit from being top priority as I do the majority of away games each year. Despite this, I agree that the system needs reform as there is no way that points accrued from over 10 years ago should determine eligibility now.

Ultimately, however, there still needs to be a similar system in place that rewards loyalty and those that travel to the majority of away games. As you elude to, you perhaps make a handful of games each year and unfortunately if that’s the case then there will always be games you miss out on regardless of the system in place.

A system reform would at least give you the opportunity to build towards a higher priority, but I’ve always maintained that this is only ever an issue with the more popular fixtures or grounds with a low allocation.

I hope you’re given the opportunity.

If people regularly go,having the last three seasons on record is perfectly fine and downgrading the 50 points to something like 30

STHs can't go to games if they can't get tickets.  I end up going to the handful I can get tickets for, but it's a drop in the ocean in terms of points.

A change to the system would at least give you a better and more fairer opportunity to earn more points; I certainly do hope it’s changed to enable this. I do stand by my original point, however, in that the issue is only ever highlighted when it comes to more popular games and grounds with a lower allocation; there are always going to be people that miss out.

I honestly think with points that some games should have a greater incentive, they are generally that ones that most STH’s have a chance of getting a ticket to.

Just as a pure example if you go to a midweek away game there should be some sort of bonus points given out or some sort of priority for the very next away game.

I think the majority of kickback from people are from those that are 23 and under, and of course it’s not their fault they are that age - it’s just a natural thing most people older than that will have been going for longer and have more away points, especially under the current system.

Certainly wouldn’t be against a new system, but it’s one of them where someone is always going to be unhappy and as mentioned by someone else, the club seem reluctant to change it because of lot of the people in the top bands are the demographic they’re after.

A new system comes in and <insert name> who hasn’t missed many away games over a period of time complains.

Not changing the system and you have what you currently have with people saying the current system is unfair.

But you’re right the only moaning this season will be the lower allocation away ends and people not getting tickets. I was half hopeful that Notts County would be a bigger allocation as the lad was desperate to go so I had to wait and it sold out. Could’ve used a mates reference to get him one but I don’t think that’s fair and is one of the biggest issues, people are using their mates references still.

Im in the camp that no season ticket holder should have away points from just buying a ticket for home games.

I’d agree but they will always go OTT on it.

id have something like 10 to 15 at very tops which allows other catch up across the season

I have no issue with longer term fans having priority over newer fans.  My objection is the total lack of priority for someone who's had a season ticket for many years.  Someone could be a STH for 10 years, go to lots of away games, and still be in the same priority category as someone who bought a season ticket last week.  Surely that's not right.

They tried that for one season, long away midweek you had 2 points whereas a Saturday away you got one.

It was before 2014, but after the old priority bands of 0-7 games  P3, 7-13 P2 and over 13 P1 or it used to be something like that.

So every season you could leap up to P1 if you’d been to 13 plus aways previous season.

Back when we had paper ST with a random number to tear out.

I remember the days my friend.

Had to take your ticket stubs in didn’t you. But people were just letting friends borrow their stubs, taking them to get their P1 then giving them back to their mate. lol

Yeah, fully understand and agree. You could be on 600 points but a season ticket holder on 50 away points gets same priority. I get it.

Yes thinking back it was open to abuse a bit, but it was very easy to get P1 in one season.

Maybe why they altered it.

The argument that occurs every year

and that will never satisfy everyone.

Out of interest I have 702 points which would usually give me great chance of getting away tickets. But as I’ve given up my ST (hopefully just for this season) they count for bugger all now. Do I deserve a ticket more than the poster cos I’ve more points?? For everyone it benefits there will be plenty it doesn’t…..

To be fair, back then the club were giving tickets away to anyone that worked there and it was easy to get them on general sale.
