I’d like to think that any players with the mentality you’d want playing for the club, would realise that any reaction from the fanbase is entirely warranted and in this case, not necessarily even aimed at them as they haven’t (in most cases) been around for the decline.

The difference between athletes who consistently achieve is mentality. Look at someone like Emma Raducanu. Won a major but although she’s had injuries, hasn’t got the mentality seemingly of a serial winner like your Williams sisters or the obvious guys on the men’s side of the sport. Same with football, if they can’t see that the fans are justified in their frustrations, they just don’t get it and won’t be successful anyway.

Same with our fans base. All those who aren’t absolutely fuming, you can tell they haven’t ever had success whether in sport or otherwise as there are the lack of standards that you have when that ambition is ingrained into you. There’s just a very loser mentality in the club, from the owner, DoF, manager and the fanbase.

Well yeah I think your first and second points are true. I think I’m complaining. About the same thing. When I’m thinking about negativity I’m thinking about a lack of passion. Which I’ve seen from fans and players for years.

I think your second point about tennis is weird cos it’s completely different on too many different levels. Tennis fans are generally too nice (happy clappers) and just support anyone who is good or an underdog. No fans are berating the Williams sisters if they miss a shot lol

Maybe you are right about the loser mentality. Although it’s a bit of a simplistic way to describe it. I grew up in a school in Leicester full of Man Utd and Liverpool fans who only supported them because they were successful. Which set me up to support a local team whether they won or not. I imagine most Leicester fans had a similar experience and that’s why they aren’t going “feral” like people seem to want.

its just always stood out to me there have been very large and vocal sections of the fan base who start off positive (well done!) but turn very negative very quickly quickly and it seems to make it harder to ever compete once we go a few goals down. This has been the case for years ever since we won the Prem really. I think it was part (not the whole) of the problem when we got relegated with Brendan. Full clarity I still think this reaction and “negativity” is valid and warranted.

Im still open to hearing about football related examples of ex players or managers talking about these kind of conditions and their impact on fans as my original post asked for. But as nobody is answering that part I’ll do some independent research and keep it to myself 😂 I’m just a shit Leicester fan asking questions. I’m not a sports psychologist or an expert on football.

Anyway I’ll stop posting now I know this is not what people need to or want to talk about now. It’s a time for just being pissed off and venting and waiting for top to do one

I’m well aware it is a different sport, solo rather than team for a start. It was more just an example of the mentality it takes to win once vs going again and having that mentality and motivation. That can be applied to any sport. In the context of football, my point was clear, if players can’t understand why the fans are getting angry at the current situation, I expect they will not make it at the highest level due to mentality.

I am not disagreeing with your points. I do think that passiveness and lack of motivation from the stands is as or more damaging that outright protests and anger though. Anger can motivate people to prove you wrong, it can spur on. Passiveness and an attitude of we won the league and cup so it doesn’t matter if we fall out the football league or go bust is going to spread in its own way to the pitch.

I’d think supporting Leicester as we all do, for the reason we do and the backdrop of glory supporters around us as you say, would create a more passionate but weirdly the title and FA cup wins seem to have stopped large numbers of our fans from any level of aspiration or having any standards that we expect in terms of effort levels and showing the basics.

I don’t think you need to stop posting. It’s all good natured debate and we mostly ultimately share the same view on the problems.

I know this could be controversial, but I find some of the constant negativity in the stands tiresome. Barely 5 minutes in, and people are shouting sarcastic comments about the style of football. I get that the last 4 years have been shocking but we are where we are, and I still want us to do well.

I feel like a lot of the fans' expectations are all wrong, where anything other than 46 wins is a failure, which is never going to happen. I was frustrated with yesterday, but out of all the performances over the years, I don't think it warranted people shouting/swearing at the players/manager throughout and at the end.

I'm not sure all the noise and negativity is helpful for the on-field stuff. I get people are entitled to feel how they feel, but for their own sanity, if they feel so negatively about the club, especially on-field performances, then why do you still go?

After yesterdays scintillating performance I can’t for the life of me think why anyone would be negative about the management and the style of football that we pay to watch

One bigger negative, if you're dealing with addition and subtraction.

But the negatives here are multiplying. So surely we’ll end up positive?

Things are so bleak we're relying on the laws of mathematics to break this cycle...

I was speaking to a mate at work today who's an Aston Villa fan about Leicester's dross turn out yesterday and he said "every Sunday we have the same conversation and you complain about the same old things with increasing irritation and your always asking "when will it end ffs" Jesus Christ I'm actually getting worried about you and leicester mate" and ive had similar responses from a mate who supports florist

if im getting sympathy of villa and forest fans were truly fxcked

First of all I would challenge  anyone to name a better or more suitable manager for this club. Is it possible for the DOF to have done a better job in removing the old and creating this new squad. The task is huge. It needs time. People have to have patience. I know it's difficult. After Plymouth everyone  was happy.  Oxford brought us down to earth. The new players will bring strengths and the young players skills but will need time. Please let's give it to them. I think this squad will do well.

Is this copied and pasted from last season?

For this division. Dave Challinor. He's got a good record in this division, plays attacking football, would work with the youngsters, football is better and, I think would have been a manager that people would have given time and backed.

Problem is Martin was already on thin ice with the fan base, as lots didn't want him for the football we saw on Saturday. We've exploited it ourselves already in the past.

It's negative because we're seeing the same pattern already. It's rubbish to watch and new people I've heard have said they don't want to go back again.

The players, yes I can get behind but the style they've been asked to play is awful. Give them a manger who has an attacking type of football and a more organised one and we'd batter this league.

Challinor would surely be better? Of course, he may not want the job! He went straight from playing to management and has never had time out of the game until now.

Do we have time? If we don't go up this season, does that mean we go into administration?

John Doolan, Dean Brennan, Steve Evans, Steve Cotterill, Paul Cook, Danny Cowley, Colin Kazim-Richards, Lee Bell, Matt Taylor, Matt Lawlor, Gareth Ainsworth, David Artell, Chris Todd, Chris Hogg, Micky Mellon, Jon Brady, Ian Watson, Alex Bruce, Peter Cklamovski, Gavin Cowan, Ian Holloway, Darrell Clarke, Lee Grant, and Michael Lindsey

There you go. That's just League Two. Because quite frankly there may not be a worse manager currently employed in the EFL. But I'm sure he'll get a nice little pay off when it's too late to salvage the season.

Having managed higher profile clubs does not make a better manager. A manager can also be unsuited purely due to the style they try to use. I think the use of the word suitable in relation to Martin and this job is interesting for this reason, as we are seeing in the early games that what he is trying to do is entirely unsuited to success in this league. You do need pace, power and physicality, and the later I don’t mean kicking lumps out of opponents but just strengths. We have still managed to assemble a fairly slow, weak side which is struggling to compete despite the fact that we probably do have superior technical ability.

I’m not getting into naming other managers but to flip it, collectively, how many of the other 23 managers in this league right now would have only managed 5 points in the first 5 games, including a hammering at home, with the squad we have? I’d suggest most of them would have achieved a better points tally from these games purely by simplifying things.
