Ricey Posted 28 October 2004 Posted 28 October 2004 Still think this is a big risk, a risk worth taking though?
Ric Flair Posted 28 October 2004 Posted 28 October 2004 What bothers me about this is that we are often heavily linked with players and managers north of the border. The media up north report that it's cast iron info and then nothing materialises, the most recent stories have been Nacho Novo who the papers said we were the only club to have made an offer for him at the time. Untrue! There's been a few others players who we had signed but never did, Pearson, Crawford, Marvin Andrews, etc. Does seem odd, I think the media up north love us for some reason and want us to nick all their most talented players and staff. I really hope Levein comes, he's been my first choice all along and i'd be made up.
gjp Posted 28 October 2004 Posted 28 October 2004 Skysportsnews..."Leicester aproach hearts boss Levein" 30386 Nice one craig i needed more than a messageboard. i feel quite exited about levin.Dont know why just a good feeling eieieio
Ric Flair Posted 28 October 2004 Posted 28 October 2004 Still think this is a big risk, a risk worth taking though? 30388 I don't think it's a big risk. Everything is a gamble in life, especially in a situation like this. A football manager's job is so complex and there's no guarantee any manager will succeed, but there are some managers who have a good chance of succeeding at a certain club and Levein is one of them.

RoyFox Posted 28 October 2004 Posted 28 October 2004 It's good to see the board using some imagination for a change. A wee bit of discipline will be instilled which will do us good and his team plays passing football so I've heard. Let's get behind him,
Ric Flair Posted 28 October 2004 Posted 28 October 2004 We need a stick of rock to give the team a good kick up the arse, Jock Wallace style. I am well happy that it appears Levein could be joining us, I was getting frustrated he wasn't being linked and then bang there you have it. Offer him £5,000 a week and he'll be here before the weekend.

Unless you were just refering to papers North of the border. If so, I apologise. I really hope he is coming.
Ricey Posted 28 October 2004 Posted 28 October 2004 Why do people want a manager who they hardly know anything about so much? He has done well at Hearts but being the best side in the SPL except the Old Firm isn't exactly a unbelievable achievement. I am by no means saying I don't want him here it's just he is unexperienced and has no experience in this country, I find it strange that despite that most people on here want him more than Megson, Penney, Strachan etc who have achieved things in this country.

He's a diciplinarian who won't take any shit off anybody, alot of good things have been said about him. Plays a combative style of play, passing and fluent with a never say die attitude. I just want someone who is a little bit unknown, but with a background that cannot be questioned. Craig Levein's..................

Plus, look at all the continental managers that are being brought in from Italy, Spaid, Portugal, France, etc recently - they have no experience of the English game yet they have been fairly successful (Wenger, Houillier, Mourinho). Just because he has only managed in Scotland it doesn't mean he can't do well in England.
SamuearlJackson Posted 28 October 2004 Posted 28 October 2004 if he makes us the 3rd best team in this country......... don't know enough about him to really say whether i want him or not - it would fit with appointments by the board since 1991 though (with the exception of DB who was brought in for a rescue job). we do like to bring in up and coming managers. goodlongfox Posted 28 October 2004 Posted 28 October 2004 The books open and not been blotted or bad marked yet so get behind him if we land him... Start with a clean slate Back him 100% and lets see where it goes

Louise Posted 28 October 2004 Posted 28 October 2004 To be fair the club hasn't said anything. Apparently he was reccomended to the board by Martin O'Neill
Mark Posted 28 October 2004 Posted 28 October 2004 Apparently Mark Saggers on 5live has said it's a done deal. Levein expected Hearts to give Leicester permission to approach him this evening. The deal HAS already been done, once that permission is granted the negotiations will be a formality.I know, I know, don't believe anything until it's confirmed by the club, but the word around those in informed positions is that it would take a massive shift in position from Leicester to stop this from happening before the weekend.
