lcfc_jme Posted 12 November 2006 Posted 12 November 2006 Two things, really. Firstly, like I said, my dad had lived here before and secondly - it's where the job was. Fair enough Didn't mean to be cheeky, I was just interested that's all Can't have been a bad thing, it got you supporting the mighty Leicester City
Finnegan Posted 12 November 2006 Posted 12 November 2006 Aye. I'd probably have ended up a dirty Jack otherwise.
lcfc_jme Posted 12 November 2006 Posted 12 November 2006 Aye. I'd probably have ended up a dirty Jack otherwise. Not good. I guess you got lucky
Finnegan Posted 12 November 2006 Posted 12 November 2006 I don't know. Nice stadium. But it'd be a bit weird being a Jack and a Scarlet. In fact, it'd be beyond weird.
lcfcire Posted 12 November 2006 Posted 12 November 2006 don't you remember how/why you started supporting Leic? i think i saw that they were bottom of the premiership and wanting to get away from those man u glory hunters i said id go with them and its been down hill since then on
Phube Posted 27 October 2008 Author Posted 27 October 2008 BUUUUUUMP.... As we've had sooo many newbies in the last 2 years!
Smiffy Posted 27 October 2008 Posted 27 October 2008 Kirby Muxloe:Groby.I am from 'Da Hood'. Kirby Muxloe:World Born in Kirby Muxloe but lived in the Barwell/Hinkley area as a young 'un. Dad had season tickets and started taking me to games when I was about 7. Moved to the states in '92 for 2 years and then moved back to leics for 2 years. Decided to come back to the states for Uni...and I'm still here! Of all my 25+ years of supporting Leicester I've only ever seen them play one game in the top flight live.
Fosse Boy Posted 27 October 2008 Posted 27 October 2008 Born in LRI, raised in Harborough, live in Colchester.
Alexikokopops Posted 27 October 2008 Posted 27 October 2008 Born in Lincolnshire, lived in Coventry and Leamington while at Uni, now in Reading and moving to London in a few weeks.
JakeShingler Posted 27 October 2008 Posted 27 October 2008 Born in Lincolnshire, lived in Coventry and Leamington while at Uni, now in Reading and moving to London in a few weeks. How did you come about supporting Leicester?
Alexikokopops Posted 27 October 2008 Posted 27 October 2008 How did you come about supporting Leicester? I'm lazy so I'm going to refer you to my post from two years ago Born near Lincoln, live near Lincoln/Leamington Spa. Great grandparents and grandparents on my mum's side supported Leicester and my mum grew up in Oadby and were a season ticket holder when she were younger and persuaded my dad to switch from a Chelsea to a Leicester fan when she met him (dicked on). Then they pissed about moving around the country and ended up in Lincoln.
JakeShingler Posted 27 October 2008 Posted 27 October 2008 I'm lazy so I'm going to refer you to my post from two years ago Oh ok
Finnegan Posted 27 October 2008 Posted 27 October 2008 Can't have been a bad thing, it got you supporting the mighty Leicester City Aye. I'd probably have ended up a dirty Jack otherwise. Given current context, re-reading that is somewhat depressing.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 27 October 2008 Posted 27 October 2008 As I've mentioned in a few posts I'm from Bristol and have no connection what so ever with Leicester - so why support them??? Well I think a few things just all clicked into place. As a misguided young 7 year old I was a Liverpool fan (except for that small Spurs phase everyone had) But then I witnessed the Swindon vs Leicester game on the telly at Wembley - 1993 that was, crickey. To begin with I was supporting the local team Swindon, who roared into a 3 goal lead - but I was so impressed with the fightback by the foxes, only to go and throw away the game at the end (something which should have shown as a warning sign as to how annoying frustrating it is to support this club at times.) that Leicester City was cemented into my brain. As a bit of a closet follower, it wasn't until 1995 that i pleged my allegence for leicester city publicly. It was the point where O'neil joined - I was altered to Martin's career as a manager earlier following the London Soccer 6-a-side tournement that was on Sky Sports. He took a full Wycombe side (that was then a conference side) to play and win the tournement against some decent London sides from Spurs, Arsenal etc - his clear unbridled passion and character was a joy to behold, and I was delighted to see Wycombe make the football league with Martin shortly after. So when he took control at Leicester I was delighted. The more and more I learnt about Leicester the more I liked, players like Neil Lennon, Muzzy Izzet, Matt Elliot, Gerry Taggart, Tim Flowers, Peggy Arpexhead, Steve Walsh, Gary Parker, Paul Dickov and many many others only helped to endear me more to the club. Being 'on your own' as a football fan for the late part of school brings it's up's and down's - you get the odd, Leicester did well (especially after the league cup win's) but you also get people going 'ahhhhhhhhhh' because there side (A Manchester, Arsenal, Liverpool) beat my team - well done! Leicester was certainly a good fit for me as a club - at their height the team player football how I believed it should be played, commited, hard, with a touch of class here and there, and that ethos that anything is possibl together. So there you have it - rant over.
Fosse Boy Posted 17 December 2009 Posted 17 December 2009 Reckon this thread deserves a bump. Some class stories.
Tommeh Posted 17 December 2009 Posted 17 December 2009 Born in Nottingham, grew up in Leicester, now in Sheffield.
Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 17 December 2009 Posted 17 December 2009 Born in Peterborugh, have always lived in Peterborough. My Dad and his side of the family all come from Leicester and he moved to Peterborough in the early 80s I think, so I have always been brought up a Leicester fan. He wouldn't have it any other way!
