stez Posted 15 June 2006 Posted 15 June 2006 Oh I wanted Henry to lead the teams out with the Post Horn Gallop... i bet he's in the stand playing it now, during the national anthems
stez Posted 15 June 2006 Posted 15 June 2006 30 minutes gone and i'm thinking about doing the pots, come on england you're being shit
Thracian Posted 15 June 2006 Posted 15 June 2006 How does any manager or coach with so many good players at his disposal get them to play so badly. And Southgate the resident apologist for excuse after excuse for his mates. England are simply so sloppy it is beyond explanation. Crouch gets the sort of chance a schoolboy would have scored and tries something out of Denis Law's handbook. He's not Denis Law. Why didn't he simply cushion the ball and sidefoot it into the net?. Apart from Joe Cole and John Terry it is a bloody shambles.
Jay Posted 15 June 2006 Posted 15 June 2006 30 minutes gone and i'm thinking about doing the pots, come on england you're being shit certainly is a bore fest isn't The Simpsons on in a minute? lack of tactics, imagination, skill, desire we could easily lose this if we carry on playing like we are and I doubt very much that Sven with his CL style motivation techinque will be able to fire them up for the second half!!

Magictv Posted 15 June 2006 Posted 15 June 2006 If he brings lennon on why doesn't he replace beckham? or a centre mid so beckham can stay in there? why take off carragher from right back? I'm confused... This is a disgrace :'( Edit, and if he is going 3 at the back wouldn't carragher be better but I dunno... Another edit, that one shuold have got put away too
samingram_uk Posted 15 June 2006 Posted 15 June 2006 yesssssssssssss. we are going through say we are going through.
filbertway Posted 15 June 2006 Posted 15 June 2006 We managed to break down the 10 men sitting on the edge of the box
Thracian Posted 15 June 2006 Posted 15 June 2006 Thank God for a proper winger and Sven playing an attacker at full back. Carragher was pedestrian and looked lost coming forward. Suddenly, with the changes, the space opened up and we should have put four goals away. T&T certainly couldn't cope with two attackers down the right. I'm still not sure why we didn't start with proper intent because had our first goal been disallowed, T&T might well have held out and not only embarrassed us but put our qualification under threat. But no matter, we're through and the worry now is that Owen and Rooney look blatantly unfit and Lampard looked like someone's nicked his bank account number. He barely did anything worthwhile all game and seemed to have lost all his belief and focus in and around the box. Let's hope he's saving it. Full marks though to Aaron Lennon.

Thracian Posted 15 June 2006 Posted 15 June 2006 lets drop the fukcer and play a proper ball winner, to stroke it through to gerrard who can pop it out to the wings etc No thanks. There's no bigger fan of Lampard than me. Who would want an alternative?. I'm just saying he looks jaded, indecisive and not himself at all.
stez Posted 15 June 2006 Posted 15 June 2006 No thanks. There's no bigger fan of Lampard than me. Who would want an alternative. I'm just saying he looks jaded, indecisive and not himself at all. so you're suggesting we continue to play an out of sorts jaded player?
Stevosevic Posted 15 June 2006 Posted 15 June 2006 No thanks. There's no bigger fan of Lampard than me. Who would want an alternative. I'm just saying he looks jaded, indecisive and not himself at all. Gerrard is better than Lampard though and alot of people say to beat the big teams we cannot play them both. Carrick and Gerrard could be the partnership Sven opts for.
Anish Posted 15 June 2006 Posted 15 June 2006 My 2 pence: Poor 1st half, better 2nd half, especially the last 30 minutes after the substitutions. Lennon made the big difference in my eyes, he stayed wide (unlike Beckham) and therefore stretched the play. T&T had to keep one of their defenders/midfielders wider to cover Lennon, which created more space for England. Lennon caused havoc when he ran at the defenders, BUT his final pass/cross was poor. He got into such good positions but then wasted it. Lampard needs to be dropped - Gerrard is by far and away the best attacking midfielder England have but with Lampard in the team Gerrard has to play more defensive and is stifled. I really think Carrick has to come in and Gerrard has to be given the license to push forward. I was disappointed with Sven subbing Owen again. Owen hardly played well but he needs to be given time and if he continues to be brought off after 55 minutes it's not doing him any good. Plus, Owen hardly missed the glaring chance that Crouch missed in the first half.
Thracian Posted 15 June 2006 Posted 15 June 2006 By any normal logic Carrick will get his chance against Sweden. But will it be with Gerrard?
martyn Posted 15 June 2006 Posted 15 June 2006 If anyone deserves to go it's Lampard. His ability to get into goalscoring positions cannot mask how far off the pace he was. I'd be tempted to bring Beckham into the centre and start with Lennon.

Anish Posted 15 June 2006 Posted 15 June 2006 because he was never in the position to Owen was the one that dragged the defender away from Crouch for that chance
stez Posted 15 June 2006 Posted 15 June 2006 Owen was the one that dragged the defender away from Crouch for that chance thats why we should be playing proper wingers it always annoyed me when david connelly ended up out there
Ricey Posted 15 June 2006 Posted 15 June 2006 Another crap performance but another win so I don't care. Sven made the obvious yet great subitistions however I was cursing his decision to bring off Owen, yet again he was better than Crouch but again brought off. However Crouch scored so no complaints now. Lampard was awful today, so unlike him, I'd like to see him dropped against Sweden. We played the straight ball into the box far too often today, luckily Sven noticed that and brought on 2 attacking wingers to get some crosses in from the flanks. P Robinson - 6 - Flapped a few times Carragher - 6 - Looked a bit uneasy J Terry - 8 - Solid, we'd of lost without him R Ferdinand - 7 - Decent A Cole - 7 - Got forward well D Beckham - 6 - Not the best today but great assist F Lampard - 5 - Very poor S Gerrard - 6 - Great goal but that was about it J Cole - 6 - Attacked well but final ball lacking M Owen - 6 - Did enough, needs to get sharper by playing 90 mins! P Crouch - 6 - Donkey but came up trumps A Lennon - 9 - Did what we needed mosty, attacked and attacked on the wing S Downing - 6 - Cut inside too much W Rooney - 7 - Nice touches but totally croweed out
Ricey Posted 15 June 2006 Posted 15 June 2006 I went on the Ladbrokes site yesterday and was so so close to putting a £10 on England 2-0 with Crouch first scorer
