MC Prussian Posted 22 June 2006 Posted 22 June 2006 3 red cards, 2 penalties not given to Australia, the Socceroos' equaliser by Kewell clearly offside, Kalac looking poor as always... ... and the referee's name is... ... Graham Poll... Australia now against Italy! Congratulations to the boys from Down Under!
Bluefoxtim Posted 22 June 2006 Posted 22 June 2006 Awful performance from Poll. What happened when Kewell scored at end? but then...? You also missed that he booked a croation defender 3 times!!!! and when he gave the throw one way, then changed the decision after it had been taken? pack your bags Poll!!!
macbeth Posted 22 June 2006 Posted 22 June 2006 passions ran high in this one great stuff high drama the most exciting game so far and that is a real compliment in this tourny !!!
stez Posted 22 June 2006 Posted 22 June 2006 just watching the highlights...........i see kalac has improved
Ricey Posted 22 June 2006 Posted 22 June 2006 Great game, it had it all! I can't believe Kalac plays for Milan.
MC Prussian Posted 22 June 2006 Author Posted 22 June 2006 Great game, it had it all! I can't believe Kalac plays for Milan. Not much longer, or do you think he'll accompany them to the Serie B or C? We should start a "Kalac Back" campaign!!!
Bert Posted 22 June 2006 Posted 22 June 2006 I can't believe Kalac is a professional footballer. If he can play for AC then anyone has hope.
Stuliasz Posted 22 June 2006 Posted 22 June 2006 Poll was just priceless. Two stone wall penalties not given, and only sending off a player after giving him three yellows!!
hairy Posted 22 June 2006 Posted 22 June 2006 Brilliant match. It had all those world cup moments. Shit goalie (he played worse for us), a referee fu*k up, offside goal, beautiful curler of a goal, another referee fu*k up and three sendings off. Altogether a great night in front of the TV. Graham Pole on the dole
shen Posted 22 June 2006 Posted 22 June 2006 I was crying of laughter those final few minutes... Poll absolutely losing control of it all, the 3 yellows, the throw in, the disallowed goal at the death. The Australian bench running onto thr pitch, thinking the final whistly was blown. I'm personally convinced Poll just whistled for a free kick, but his facial expression at the end was just priceless That was without doubt his last ever game international game
Bert Posted 22 June 2006 Posted 22 June 2006 Possibly his last ever top flight game after that showing as well.
DanTheFoxBhoy Posted 23 June 2006 Posted 23 June 2006 It was indeed a messy game, but we went mental regardless! First goal from a free kick, second from a penalty, third from Kalac's **** up, fourth offside and fifth disallowed. No one should have been allowed to score in that game... Except for the green and gold, cos our shots at goal were bank
Monk Posted 23 June 2006 Posted 23 June 2006 I was watching it in the Porterhouse in Covent Garden - loads of aussies in there - great atmosphere and they went nuts when Aus Equalised. Poll was hilarious - but what would have happened if the Croatia player who got 2 yellows went up the pitch and scored the winner and sent Aus out?!?! A let off for Poll it could have been a lot worse for him!! For me though that was the best match of the tourney so far. definately.
aussie-fox Posted 23 June 2006 Posted 23 June 2006 watched it in a pub in earls court, it was so loud in there it was great, people were queing outside the pub watching it through the windows! Kalac was poor, but although he plays for milan he aint had any first team apperances so he is out of match fitness, he's probebly only had a few 19-20 year olds shooting at him for the last 12 months in the ressies so when he comes out and plays against pro's its a completely diffrent ball game. although kewell was offside, we could have had a least 3 penaltys so justice was done. ive been pleased with the dukes perfomances in the world cup, his ball control has been 1st class and when you got kewell, cahill, bresciano in midfield you dont need him to be scoring many goals. go aussies
Master Fox Posted 23 June 2006 Posted 23 June 2006 This game was absolutely brilliant. This was by far the best game of the tournament to date. I watched it from start to finish and enjoyed every minute. I must admit I was cheering the aussies on last night!
DanTheFoxBhoy Posted 23 June 2006 Posted 23 June 2006 Good form, fellow Foxes! Dukes has been good, but the midfield as you said has been pretty sweet for what we're used to seeing in our teams. World Cup time is great, the pubs are full and everyone is going mental, what more could you ask for?

World Cup time is great, the pubs are full and everyone is going mental, what more could you ask for? there is only one thing tha worries me about the aussie team at the moment, it that we let far to many chances and half chances go begging, we could have beat brazil, should have beat croatia and against teams like italy and any one in the knock-out stages 1 chance is all you may get and i cant see us taking that 1 chance. we are more then capable then going a long way but need to finish a bit better. how kewell managed to hit the keeper from 5 yards is exactly what i mean,

How many times were we left cursing and piffing water bottles at Croats cos easy shots at goal were blundered? I think the only decent shot at goal during the Brazil game that had a real chance of going through was Bresciano's scissor kick.

Yeah basically thats down to Viduka getting the ball and refusing to pass it then shooting wide after running into trouble. Happened on too many occasions last night!
