Daggers Posted 6 November 2006 Posted 6 November 2006 I tell you - I am SOOOOOOOOOOOO bored at the moment...not even humour is funny.
sackmycook Posted 6 November 2006 Posted 6 November 2006 And that would be why I've not knocked it. no thats right you're not knocking the bid as you've not seen it, instead you're knocking the guy for having bid. Well there is the question of what his plans are for the club, for all you know he might want to turn the Walkers into the worlds first Super Brothel....He went to Nice, promoised them the European Cup, delivered cheerleaders at half time, sold the club to some dodgy Italian types who in turn got them relegated from Ligue 1. A couple of his American teams have been wound up.
Daggers Posted 6 November 2006 Posted 6 November 2006 Busiest morning I've ever worked, as you can probably tell from my almost total lack of posting. It's getting ludicrous though, people are arguing against each other when they have virtually the same opinion! I would like to agree with Fez on this matter but I think people have almost the same opinion, not virtually the same opinion. It's details like that should be pawed over, across 1431 posts in a thread.
Babylon Posted 6 November 2006 Posted 6 November 2006 I do not understand how anyone is able to comment on the MM bid either way at the moment as none of us have any facts to go on. EXACTLY!!!!!!!!! I'm not for or against it because I don't have the facts. I want more than anything for the board to turn round and say to the share holders that they think the offer is a good one, and that they should back it. I would be cheernig from the rooftops if it happened. It just does my tree in when people come on and willy nilly say the board are rubbish, we need to accept, lets protest blah blah blah.
Surreal Madrid Posted 6 November 2006 Posted 6 November 2006 MM would be the best person (we know of) to take this club further, and the offer he has made to the board is to buy the club from them. If they are in it to make their money back or even make a profit then they aren't working in the best interests of the club. If anything they should sell for a loss if it is the clubs best intrests, becuase if they hold out for more, that in the end will mean less money for the club (transfers, wages etc) we can't expect MM to pay more and then that additional money not come from the money earmarked for us. They should accept less becuase in the end the money being paid to them will come from us. In fact they should look at it like they have had a good run and the directors have been paid a good whack and they have i'm sure had plenty of benefits by being shareholders, and the money they are losing out on is a penalty (which they made LCFC pay) for CL's inept signings and wages he offered and his hiring and firing costs. So what in effect you are saying is that the present owners should take a loss to give MM a bigger profit. Why the hell should they? Would you care to define what benefits the 47 shareholders have had? When they took the club out of administration they said they would pay for their tickets like everyone else. Apart from a free cup of tea and a biccy at half time, I'm not sure what else they would have had. The paid directors are paid because they are doing a full time job. The " part-time " directors, to the best of my knowledge are not being paid.
Manwell Pablo Posted 6 November 2006 Posted 6 November 2006 no thats right you're not knocking the bid as you've not seen it, instead you're knocking the guy for having bid. I've just stated some facts to demonstrate why we need to wait and see what the board has been offered, I repeat they are facts, not my opinion. My opinion is not everything he touches turns to gold, wait and see what the offer is before biting his hand off.
sackmycook Posted 6 November 2006 Posted 6 November 2006 i dont want to argue with you, we both want whats best. but you are not stating facts. the walkers brothel and 2 clubs folding under his ownership aren't facts.
Manwell Pablo Posted 6 November 2006 Posted 6 November 2006 Friedrich can suck my Frankfurter, We don't know what Madarics plans for the club are - Fact The St Louis Storm (i think) and the San Jose Earthquakes went bust - fact.
gatesheadfox Posted 6 November 2006 Posted 6 November 2006 the walkers brothel if he was to keep the club operational this could be an interesting source of income to the club. i would kick up my heels if this bid comes through as it is supposedly only going to be accepted if it is in the best interest of our club. if the deal is shite we should reject it....simple really, unfortunately we know absolutely feck all about what the deal is. some involved say its a great deal, others (including those who will do as they have a little power to hold onto) have said it isnt
Ric Flair Posted 6 November 2006 Posted 6 November 2006 If Mandaric has offered £6 million, then the only issue is what are his long term plans? I think this was said last week. The 6 mill will pay the shareholders off, meaning they shouldn't lose any money. What we don't know is: 1) What Milan will do about the purchase of the ground 2) What Milan will do about freeing up money for transfers Once the board find out about this, then a decision will be made. We wouldn't be any better off financially if all Mandaric did was buy the shareholders out, but who would everyone rather have in charge? The current board or Milan? I'm sure Milan will re-structure the stadium debt and i'm sure he'd have a better chance of raising some money for transfers. So who would people rather have in?. It's a no brainer for me, if this is what's on offer. Milan has the bottle and resources to allow this club to do thigns it can't under our current set-up, even if it means he loans the club his own money. We owe £16 million and as long as he doesn't put us at any greater risk than we are already at then i'm game. I prefer the idea of one voice, instead of 47 all fighting over making a decision. This has led to problems already, just look at the dithering with whetehr to keep or sack our managers over the past few years.

Manwell Pablo Posted 6 November 2006 Posted 6 November 2006 Whilst he was there? I wasn't aware of this. Info please. hold on..... I'll attempt to look it up. He was definatley at the Storm when the folded, but the league folded as well so I suppouse thats a good enough excuse.
Manwell Pablo Posted 6 November 2006 Posted 6 November 2006 Mandaric also became owner of the St. Louis Storm, a Major Soccer League franchise that ceased operations in 1992 when the MSL also folded. Little less clear about when the Earthquakes, but it's not about whether he was there or not IMO RE the Earthquakes as he set the business up and it ultimately failed. then San Jose Earthquakes which played in the USA's first professional league. George Best had played for the latter team, and the two men became friends Sceptical about the future of the sport in the USA, Mandaric looked to European football EDIT: Source is Wikipedia. EDIT AGAIN: The San Jose Earthquakes folded in 2005. This is pointless any way, the fact of the matter is we shouldn't accept a take over from Jesus Chirst without knowing the facts first.

Most modern businesses exist with a lot more shareholders than 48, these are run by an MD / Board we are no different. I don't believe this is the problem - it's a lack of ready cash. If MM can guarantee a source of funding with acceptable borrowing arrangements that are an improvemnt on the stadium/teachers set up then I can't see the board turning it down. At the moment it's all brinkmanship (other bids / other clubs interested) and jockying for position, that's to be expected, thats what businessmen/MDs/Boards do. It takes time, they all have other things to deal with. When they've come to an acceptable or unacceptable agreement they will lets us know.

The People's Hero Posted 6 November 2006 Posted 6 November 2006 Walshie can come back and poke-er That's the spirit. Less of this lofty ambition and high brow upsmanship regarding the ins and outs of the best and worst ways to rape this wench of a club. Yes Mandaric does want to make some money (fu ck the club up the ar se) but at the end of the day, the club is wearing cheap perfume, a short skirt and no knickers and is frankly gagging for it. So let's just take the whole thing to the lowest common denominator; gambling, smut, cheap and expensive thrills.. casino/brothel. I've heard Ian Marshall will call the numbers if we do a bingo night and Lee Morris is happy to sweep the toilets. Unless his knee goes again. Or his arm. Or his ar se. Or whatever it was that meant he could rip us off for so long the bleedin' shi tter.

The People's Hero Posted 6 November 2006 Posted 6 November 2006 Rumour has it he isn't thrilled about the Brothel. Having sampled it on more than one occasion, Jesus confirmed it wasn't to the standards outlined in his father's unsuccesful follow up to smash hit 'The Bible' simply named 'The 14 criteria for a good Christian brothel'.
