Kelly Out?

He's okay but he wouldn't be my choice.

Webmaster on Talking Balls has listed the main contenders and independently drawn the same conclusion as I have, always assuming the bloke would be interested....

Kevin Keegan.

I'd like someone to put a smile back on the face of Leicester football.

And Webmaster has taken the trouble to discount some of the options for various reasons which I've copied here and are basically good enough for me.

Sven Goran Eriksson (too expensive - doubt he'd come here)

Ron Atkinson (past it, bad reputation, out of the game too long)

George Graham (out of the game too long)

Trevor Francis (crap)

Iain Dowie (too ugly)

Glenn Hoddle (twat)

Joe Royle (dull)

Peter Reid (a monkey's brain inside a monkey's head)

Graeme Sounness (crap and a willy puller)

Alan Curbishley (looking for a Premier club?)

++++++++++

I'm open to better suggestions but it's time to get someone in here with a bit of personality, a bit of charisma and a bit of an attitude about how to play football.

With Beaglehole developing the Academy side in a new Reserves set-up next year (I sincerely hope) and Jon Rudkin continuing to mastermind the Academy production line - at long last we might return to what football was once all about at Leicester...

Something to get excited about.

NO THOUGHT gone into this one, Keagan always walks when put under any Pressure, Keagan doesn't even like having a reserve side!! You would just love that lol......((CURBISHLEY))

Those substitutions last night!

They did it for me broke the camels back poor thing

why take Hume off? why take stearman off?

Why not take elvis off? why not take low off?

Why put mcauley up front when we sent devries to holland?

Why dont you try something differant? formations tactics (don't know if that would work)

Baffled last night, loads off bOOOOOOOOs when Hume went off that was it after that no chance of scoring

i never wanted kelly to start with but with the results he had he had to be put in and given a chance, however i don't think he has proven himself to be worthy. I think kelly is more of a background man than a manager. He has done well and i have no hard feelings towards him but we need to get rid, he's only on a one-year rollinng contract so it won't cost too much.

edit: another thing though, if the takeover does go through and we have money available, are our expectations going to be higher? if a new manager was in the pressure after being handed lots of money would be huge, especially with some of these Leic fans who expect promotion every season.

We haven't got a reserve side anyway!

And, as for the Academy, there's precious little evidence of anyone being prepared to back the way they play anyway so anyone moving up is likely to have problems even if, under the new regime, they ever get the chance.

As for Keegan the manager, it's not unique for people to walk when under severe pressure. Others just hang around til they're paid-up. I saw Keegan's Newcastle team. It was exactly the way I like football to be played.

As for Curbishley why would he even want to come?

Posted

Why would Keegan want to come after saying he never wanted to work in football again?

Do you want to qualify this? Keegan IS working in football, just not as a manager.

That tactically inept manager did OK when he got Newcastle promoted and took them to the top of the Permiership. :D

I know I've done it before but... meh so what.

The same Kevin Keegan who is repsonsible for the following......

'The ref was vertically 15 yards away.'

'There are two schools of thought on the way the rest of this half is going to develop; everybody's got their own opinion...'

'Goalkeepers aren't born today until they're in their late twenties or thirties.'

'This could be a repeat of the final.'

'The game has gone rather scrappy as both sides realise they could win this match or lose it.'

'I don't think there's anyone bigger or smaller than Maradona.'

'England can end the millenium as it started - as the greatest football nation in the world.'

'They compare Steve McManaman to Steve Heighway and he's nothing like him, but I can see why - it's because he's a bit different'

'Despite his white boots, he has real pace...'

'You can't do better than go away from home and get a draw...'

'He can't speak Turkey, but you can tell he's delighted.'

'There'll be no siestas in Madrid tonight.'

'...using his strength. And that is his strength, his strength.'

'One of his strengths is not heading' (of course, one of Keggy's strengths is not talking)

'Gary always weighed up his options, especially when he had no choice.'

'I'm not disappointed - just disappointed.'

'The tide is very much in our court now.'

'Chile have three options - they could win or they could lose.'

'That would have been a goal if it wasn't saved.'

'I came to Nantes two years ago and it's much the same today, except that it's totally different.'

'A tremendous strike which hit the defender full on the arm - and it nearly came off.'

'The good news for Nigeria is that they're two-nil down very early in the game'

'The substitute is about to come on - he's a player who was left out of the starting line-up today.'

'That decision, for me, was almost certainly definitely wrong.'

'I know what is around the corner - I just don't know where the corner is. But the onus is on us to perform and we must control the bandwagon.'

'Hungary is very similar to Bulgaria. I know they're different countries...'

'In some ways, cramp is worse than having a broken leg.'

'The 33 or 34-year-olds will be 36 or 37 by the time the next World Cup comes around, if they're not careful.'

'England have the best fans in the world and Scotland's fans are second-to-none'

'It's understandable that people are keeping one eye on the pot and another up the chimney.'

'I'd love to be a mole on the wall in the Liverpool dressing room at half-time.'

'It could be far worse for me if it was easy for me.'

'Discipline is not only very important, it's crucial.'

'Young Gareth Barry - he's young'

'Argentina won't be at Euro 2000 because they're from South America.'

'They're the second best team in the world, and there's no higher praise than that.'

'You don't get two chances at this level, or at any other level for that matter.'

'You're not just getting international football, you're getting world football'

'Kanu, a guy with a heart as big as he is'

'Luis Figo is totally different to David Beckham, and vice versa'

'Football's always easier when you've got the ball'

'They don't come every three days, like they come after this one'

'I want more from David Beckham. I want him to improve on perfection.'

'The tide is very much in our court now.'

'There's a slight doubt about only one player, and that's Tony Adams, who definitely won't be playing tomorrow.'

'We have spent three matches chasing a football.'

'It's no longer an 11 man game.'

'The Germans only have one player under 22, and he's 23'

'For some it's the ultimate job, for the others it's the last job.'

'I've had an interest in racing all my life, or longer really.'

'We managed to wrong a few rights.'

'We are three games without defeat is another way of looking at it. But if we are honest we have taken two points from nine'

'He'll also be very dangerous from set-pieces. That means he'll be a threat from free-kicks and corners in the final third of the field.'

'Danny Tiatto is not going to make a mistake on purpose'

'I'll never play at Wembley again, unless I play at Wembley again'

Once was enough Manwell. I'm not sure you should be ridiculing a guy over his phraseology.

Can't you maybe give a list of his considerable achievements or describe some of the awesome football his Liverpool team produced in his playing days or his Newcastle team in his managerial days.

More's the pity but I really think Sir Bobby's just about reached the end of his managerial days and should just enjoy being one of football's elder statesmen.

I think he probably meant Bryan.

Shit, I automatically took it as a sensible suggestion.

Granted Newcastle did play some nice stuff but untimately they won...........................erm fcuk all!

He was bankrolled at Newcastle and Man City and echived nothing in terms of honours! Now I'm not saying we should be expecting Sir Alex or Jose to rock up at the Walkers anytime soon but perhaps someone with a proven track record of getting out of this division would be nice, assuming Kelly does go of course?!

I don't think someone who underachived with a blank cheque book would be ideal, thus ruling out Robson and Keegan!

Having said that I would imagine Milan Mandaric will do things his own way (he always has) and knowing him to not be media-shy reckon his first managerial appointment could have Jamie Redknapp written all over it! I alsio expect him to be sacked by the end of February and replace by Rudi Voeller!

mmmmmmmmmm I love Special Brew!!!!
