Whether it's true or not, the thread deserves to stay.

It's a fascinating idea and a pleasant change to our normal ramblings.

What are you on about man how it is not possible for Malcolm Glazer to own two football clubs he not allowed to own man utd and LA galaxy because the FA wont allow him to. Only way he can take over LA Galaxy is by selling Man utd.

Can't we just do that anyway?

I'm sure kidnapping in this case would be allowed. It would be a mercy mission.

I'm going to Orlando in a bit. He can come if he wants.

Actually, scrub that. I don't want him with me.

Braaaaaaaaaaap!

Drop him off halfway. He can run the rest of the way using his lightning speed.

Name the clubs that Roman Abramovitch owns in Russia and Israel and the one Milan Mandric owns in Slovenia.

Can't we go to Pigeon Street instead?

Abramovich has no equity interest in CSKA. I don't have a clue which Isreali team your reffering to, and Madaraic sold his Slovenian team some time ago I'm sure.

You are correct however there is nothing wrong with owning more than one team. It's against FA rules to own more than one club in England, and it's against UEFA rules to own more than one club competeing in the same European competition. Theres nothing to stop owners of British football clubs to pursue other interests in the U.S.

Still think your talking balls mind :D

Chandler, your thread has certainly been an interesting read. I, however, doubt, that any of your current predictions about Mandaric will (ever) come true.

It's a fact that football's become a happy playground for billionaires and other private investors. But there's been rich English fellas for ages with their own footy club (think of Wolves, for instance) and I doubt the reactions were as heated/or publically disclosed back then as they are these days, with more and mroe foreigners taking over the commercial captaincy.

I've got nothing against people buying clubs, BUT, of course, I very much dislike the fact that some of them go way too far, like Red Bull owner Mateschitz did with Salzburg, who now play with a new (ugly RB) crest, new (ugly white and red) club colours, a rather well-known coaching duo (although Matthäus' a bit of a joke, really), a new stadium (for event fans only) and a huge merchandising apparatus attached to it. The original fans have all left in disgust at this sight and founded their "old" club, Austria Salzburg, a second time.

Red Bull also owns the N.Y. based club in the States and I've heard the rumour that current German club FC Sachsen Leipzig is about to be taken over by them, as well.

As for Mandaric, he did an excellent job at Portsmouth and he can just do the same with LCFC. He could've stayed there. So far, none of his previous clubs has given in to that "franchise conspiracy" you're entangled in, neither the one in Slovenia, nor Pompey. I don't see a connection there. As far as I know, he's into buying clubs with potential, with the aspiration of a full financial turnaround, so he can walk off with some more money in his pocket. Anything wrong with that?

In all honesty, I believe you paint way too black.

I ask myself whether you simply have a very low self-esteem, a deep desire to be heard and thus a need to prove yourself to others more often than the normal case. Or is it just a fear of foreigners, do you fear the game's selling out or something? I, too, can start claiming all sorts of things and base my argumentation on vague, shady sources. But I don't. Right now, your fear comes too early, and I'm not even sure whether it is deserved or not. I tend toward the latter.

Insulting other members or FT ain't really adding up to a positive pedigree, dear Chandler, I'm afraid.

So come the summer he could be Mandaric's property.

What money Adu playing with LCFC next season?

Are the players not contracted to the league and not the clubs?? I'm not up on American football but I thought that was the case.

All I'll say to you sceptics is - wait till the summer!

Then I'll watch you eat humble pie...

Which seems to me to be your overiding motivation for ever posting to these forums. It's a pity that you always seem to want to use your posts to try to leverage yourself 'above' everyone and that you can't take a more mature approach and just discuss these topics like a normal person.

Anyhow, onto your post...

What makes you think that MM would want to revive the merger with the Tigers? What evidence or information do you have that suggests this will happen?

As to the 'US Foxes' theory, given that a lot of your 'facts' seem to be incorrect how can we hold any trust in the general premise that these are MM's plans?

The way MLS works is extremly confusing. But American clubs have definatley bought and sold players in the past to teams outside of MLS so that would suggest they own they players.

'And another thing...' said the cabbie.

.....

FRANCHISING

UEFA's days are numbered. The opportunities which are opening up in the USA and China will spell the end of this little racket within a generation. Sponsors in the US has finally woken up to the fact that NFL, NBA, NHL & Baseball don't travel much outside North America and that 'soccer' is the only truly global commerical team game. Franchising (it is hoped) is the mechanism that will get professional soccer the permanent mass popular appeal that has eluded it in the past.

....

This is absolutely undeniable. There are many aspects of the way football is heading that I find hard to stomach. The smashing up of UEFA isn't one of them, however.

The League owns all the contracts. It was MLS who sold McBride to Fulham not Columbus. MLS currently receives all the transfer fees, but that is changing next season.

You also cannot buy a player from another MLS team, you have to trade for it. Much like in the NFL, NBA, MLB etc.

The whole idea is to keep a competitive balance in the league.

MLS is confusing. I won't even bother trying to explain it. Way too complicated.

As I understand it it's not a million miles away from the NBA NHL etc etc in it's working. Even more than I first thought if this is the case with the players. I always thought it was Columbus who sold Mcbride to Fulham as thats how it was reported over here.

I know its all very complex.

Face it, you were wrong and I was right.... now let me bask in the glory of being correct
