amitoo Posted 24 January 2007 Posted 24 January 2007 You've got a point. I agree with the idea of just consolidating this season. Get a bit of cohesion in the team, and then make some more perminant signings in the summer. however, if this lad has potential, then make we should get him. We've already missed out on a few players that would have been good for us. I think we should be looking at bringing in both youth and experience. It is a strange rumour tho. To spend that sort of money on a player that is totally unproven at this level is a real risk. I do hear that he does come very highly rated tho. Thats true, a mix of youth and experience is what we need, but if he is another matty fryatt then we won't be needing him, i think if we are gonna buy a forward we need a tall pacey forward who likes to run at defenders and is good in the air, Henry
Geo V Posted 24 January 2007 Posted 24 January 2007 Out of the lower league players that seem to be getting the headlines, Karl Hawley is not one that I had even heard of It seems there is quite a bit of movement as Sky are reporting it now. At this stage of proceedings I`d take anyone, even Josh back McEveley at Blackburn is a solid left-back and may be available as they just bought Warnock from Liverpool. Apparently Derby want him but I reckon that would be a great signing at the reported £250k.
FrankieWorthoYaggedMyWife Posted 24 January 2007 Posted 24 January 2007 but if he is another matty fryatt then we won't be needing him The same Matty Fryatt who was intrumental in keeping us up last year and has represented England at various age groups and is still on 20!!! People have short memories!!!! Incidently Hawley is out of contract in the summer!

The People's Hero Posted 24 January 2007 Posted 24 January 2007 I miss the stupid rumours about Robbie Fowler. Someone make one up. Oh and that Chapman fella from West Ham and erm... Brett Angel are coming in. Beat that, triangles!
FrankieWorthoYaggedMyWife Posted 24 January 2007 Posted 24 January 2007 I heard we were gonna swoop for Liverpool playmaker Jan Molby I also found an old newspaper the other day that claimed Peter Taylor would wrap up the transfers of John Hartson and Nick Barmby with the next 24 hours!!!!!
Craig Posted 24 January 2007 Posted 24 January 2007 SSN just said Mandaric may lend us the money to sign Hawley if the takeover doesn't go through soon.
dandannieldanok Posted 24 January 2007 Posted 24 January 2007 SSN just said Mandaric may lend us the money to sign Hawley if the takeover doesn't go through soon. This would be a waste of money, we need a right winger first. Hawley is similar to Earnshaw, not as good obviously, but will only score goals if given the chances. At the moment we don't look like providing the supply of chances necessary.
bold_fox Posted 24 January 2007 Posted 24 January 2007 SSN just said Mandaric may lend us the money to sign Hawley if the takeover doesn't go through soon. Very strange.... The lads out of contract at the end of the season, yet we're will to stump up money now to pay for him. He must be highly rated if MM is considering lending the money before he's even properll taken over.
The People's Hero Posted 24 January 2007 Posted 24 January 2007 We don't need any wingers. We could have the best winger in the world but at the end of the day, Henderson and the other wankers in our team would just use them as a target man and they wouldn't get a ball to feet all day. People go on about wingers, but has anyone considered that part of the reason that ALL wingers ALWAYS dissappoint here is that we'd rather hoof indiscriminately than make space and give them the ball? Fu ck me, I'm dealing with a bunch of morons here.
Lester LXXIV Posted 24 January 2007 Posted 24 January 2007 We need supply! Our strikers are more than capable if given the service from midfield!
OriginalRobboFOX Posted 24 January 2007 Posted 24 January 2007 Just heard that the one and only Robbie Fowler will be arriving shortly after MM signs on the dotted line, with Andy Johnson moving the other way

davieG Posted 24 January 2007 Author Posted 24 January 2007 We need supply! Our strikers are more than capable if given the service from midfield! Who supplies the ball to the midfield?
The People's Hero Posted 24 January 2007 Posted 24 January 2007 Just heard that the one and only Robbie Fowler will be arriving shortly after MM signs on the dotted line, with Andy Johnson moving the other way Ahhhhhhhhhh........ That's better. Robbie Fowler rumour, it's good to have you back old boy. I've saved you your favourite spot my the fire... and if you'll stick around for 5 minute, DC should be back any time with a line or two of the good stuff.
Lester LXXIV Posted 24 January 2007 Posted 24 January 2007 Who supplies the ball to the midfield? Either straight from the keeper or from the FB's. I'm more concerned with our midfield than I am our defence...
bold_fox Posted 24 January 2007 Posted 24 January 2007 Who supplies the ball to the midfield? Its they're job to dominate supply.
The People's Hero Posted 24 January 2007 Posted 24 January 2007 Bravo! I'm fed up with the football manager generation proudly proclaiming they've sold all our problems. Let's hear them we say... Let's sign a couple of good wingers and a striker! Gosh this management lark is easy. Do you people EVEN understand football.... EVEN on a very very basic, fundamental level. It's about passing and moving and passing again and moving again to get SPACE and get in to GOOD POSITIONS. We could have Shaun fooking Wright Phillips on one wing and Ronal****ingdinho on the other, we'd still punt it 5 yards over their head in to the crowd and then this would be you lot.... Player Ratings: JME: SWP: Poor. Didn't control a ball all game. Rubbish winger. Awful debut. 7 (note the contradictory write up and mark...) Ronaldinho: Thought he was supposed to be the best player in the world. Where was the goals? He barely won a header against that huge right back all day! 9 etc etc. Do you understand? Do you fooking fook!? Wankers!
bald reynard Posted 24 January 2007 Posted 24 January 2007 SSN just said Mandaric may lend us the money to sign Hawley if the takeover doesn't go through soon. I live in Cumbria - and speaking to Carlisle fans, Hawley just can't 'hack it' in League 1, let alone the Championship. He did well in the Conference and League 2, but has failed to perform in League 1 (as shown in this seasons goal scoring record). Carlisle would be only too happy to accept £500k for a player out of contract in the summer ! He's also a short a**e (5'5") - do we need another one !? Spend £500k a bit more wisely please !
OriginalRobboFOX Posted 24 January 2007 Posted 24 January 2007 Furthermore, we may be getting Robbies old pal Stevey Mac as winger to supply our strikers too
OriginalRobboFOX Posted 24 January 2007 Posted 24 January 2007 SSN just said Mandaric may lend us the money to sign Hawley if the takeover doesn't go through soon. SSN are spouting utter tosh, 'lend' the money?? what if his takeover fell thru?? garbage...

He is 5'8" 2. 10 goals is hardly a bad return it it! and 3. Most successful sides have 5 strikers we currently have 4 including Dodds, so yes we do need another striker!

Fu ck me, I'm dealing with a bunch of morons here. Of course we do, if it wasn't for some of Levi Porter's performances on the WING then we might be even lower down in the table. Surely you'd rather have a half-decent winger brought in on the right instead of Stephen Hughes.
