Mark Posted 4 September 2009 Posted 4 September 2009 There Will Be Fireworks Immanu El Hammock Rosie Thomas Jamie Woon (Burial remix) Jessica Bailiff Bitcrush
StanSP Posted 4 September 2009 Posted 4 September 2009 Mark, really loving the Immanu El - Under Your Wings I'll Hide. Soft and relaxing and flowing music. As I wrote that, I listen to Hammock - I Can Almost See You and it's more relaxing that Immanu El. Much Farther To Go - Rosie Thomas - Sounds like Alanis Morrisette to me. And slower version of Vanessa Carlton's famous song, the name escapes me. But I like it this kinda stuff. Like the video too - basic, simple, but touching in a way. The Jamie Woon song sounds a bit scary and harrowing . But I like the beat when it kicks in. Gives it something special if you know what I mean. Something different to the start. Jessica Bailiff - Swallowed. Beautfiul voice IMO. Soft and rhythmic. Nice and chilled. 2 questions . Where did you find out about these bands/people? And are they new?
Libertine Posted 4 September 2009 Posted 4 September 2009 I've discovered two brilliant bands from Sweden just lately.pg.lost, post rock, beautiful music. Jeniferever, as above, but with great vocals. pg.lost are great. Heard some of their stuff on Last.fm. Anything DragonForce, purely for Herman Li's guitaring skills.Even if you don't like the music, you've got to admire his guitaring. No you don't. Terrible guitar player (for all the plaudits he gets). Try watching the live performances, he misses more notes than he hits.

Last.fm recommendations and similar artists of other bands I listen to sends me to their music quite often, I'm quite addicted to that site . A music forum for that kind of music also. TWBF and Jamie Woon are new artists I think, but the others have been around a while. Those I posted are a few songs I didn't end up putting on my last mix tape

Libertine Posted 4 September 2009 Posted 4 September 2009 Bright Eyes - At the Bottom of Everything. Fricking great video. Buckethead - Witches on the Heath. Short instrumental piece. Beaudeeful stuff and has been known to make certain female posters cry. Architecture in Helsinki - Souvenirs. Check oot if you like Los Campesinos etc. Might know this from the Fanta advert. Boy in Static - First Love. Shawn Lane - The Hurt, The Joy. Absolute beauty whilst only using generic chords. Instrumental again. Elliott Smith - Needle in the Hay. Awesome singer songwriter who died whey too young. Manic Street Preachers - Yes. From awesome The Holy Bible album. Lyrically great, but not as bleak as the rest of that record.
