Did anyone watch the dispatches documentary on the 'Great global warming swindle' on Monday night (repeated last night). It basically and scientifically debunked every 'man-made' global warming theory with so much ease it was scary.

It wasn't stating the Earth wasn't warming, just that it is impossible for humans to cause it!!

It seems that the anti-CO2 lobby have just been propagating ridiculous lies to further their anti-captialist ideas!! And it seems that everyone has been taken in. Even the co-founder of Greenpeace is disgusted by the 'green' activists now!!

Oooh, there's so much to say , but the worst of it is we (the west) are using the CO2 issue to stop the less developed countries (African/Asian) to develop their industries meaning the millions will still live in poverty!!!

I'll end my mini-rant with a quote from one of the world's leading climatologists:

"If you compare the warming of the earth to a poorly running car. We're not looking at the engine (the sun), or even the transmission (water vapour); we're looking at one of the nuts on the right rear wheel (human CO2)."

Yes it was very interesting and informative and as BB say's it's confirmed the thoughts I already had on it.

The irony is that the 'greens' (against the development of Africa on environmental grounds) are in an unholy unplanned alliance with the 'West' (fagainst the development of Africa for financial greed) diametrically opposite reasons and yet between them they created a monster, using misinfomation that will be impossible to stop.

As a chemistry graduate and having studied envrinmental sceinces, I went back and had a look on my notes, and I would like to say that alot of whta was said on this programme corraleted to what I had studied!! The Sun is the driving factor on CO2 not man!!!! Not to say we shouldn't try and be 'cleaner' because burning fossil fuels etc is still not good a thing!!!

Oil .... its all about oil. Some of us have not been fooled by the government propaganda. If the governments around the world were so worried they would have stopped the rain forests from being destroyed.

There is also the point that a chap a few years ago managed to convert vegetable oil to run in diesel engines with no CO2 emisions. If global warming is that bad, why has this not been promoted .... basically because it would destroy the oil barons hold on the world and destroy the US economy.

But while idiots are willing to listen to politicians over employing their own common sense and reasoning and therefore by extension whilst there are political points to be won over climate change mumbo jumbo, it's going to persist.

Lowest common denominator. Janice doesn't want her 5 pikey offspring to live in a hellish, barren environment. She will vote for whoever is going to 'stop' it. How anyone is going to stop what is a global, natural and inevitable cyclical process, I'm not sure, but there you are.

Smog does not equal CO2. Smog was formed by smoke (pure carbon!) particles attaching to the water vapour (fog).

Little fact:

Of the 180,000,000,000 tonnes of CO2 in the atmosphere, only 9,000,000,000 is human related. The rest comes from volcanoes, trees, animals, bacteria but most of all the oceans!! So if you want to get rid of CO2 you need to get rid of the oceans and trees first!!!

How have we come to such a polarised situation where the truth would appear to suggest the complete opposite of what is commonly accepted?

It bewilders me how true experts in the field are seemingly ignored while the views of politicians and global warming activists who have no clue about the science (reality) are put on pedastals and proclaimed as speaking gospel truths and doing the right thing.

If we focussed half the time, money and effort into real issues like third world poverty we might actually make real progress instead of this blinkered belief that, for example, if I plant a tree after flying on a plane I'm "doing my bit".

Of course with political points to be won and a ulterior agenda to be followed I can only see the truth becoming shrouded further and further in propaganda and lies.

isn't everything these days the fact is labour are talking this up so that they can raise taxes and look like the good guys. the scientists are talking it up to get research funds. the left wing environmentalist are talking it up because they've lost every other argument they've put forward.

The thing is, the argument about CO2 emissions causing global warming is completely flawed. CO2 is actually not the biggest greenhouse gas, it's water vapour. And there's nothing we can do to stop that.

i only watched the 1st half but most of the interviewees said clearly that 'it was a lie' or 'the figures don't add up'.

Just to refer to the smog thing; smog is indeed pure carbon, which comes about as a result of incomplete combustion as a result of inefficient combustion devices of that time period.

The word equation for combustion is Hydrocarbon + Oxygen from being burned -> Carbon/an oxide of carbon + water. If the hydrogen carbon is burned in excess oxygen, CO2 is usually formed. If there is an oxygen deficieny, carbon monoxide, CO, is formed, or if there is no/very little oxygen, carbon (smog) is formed. So its a seperate issue.
