Head Honcho Posted 4 April 2007 Posted 4 April 2007 We must remember that he is a Premiership ref therefore he is reffing a championship game because he was appalling in his last game so we have to put up with him.... Deary me what are you on about? He's in charge of this game not as a punishment but because he is one of the best available and it's live on sky. You don't punish a ref by giving him a match that's gonna be beamed around the world you plonker

MBK Posted 4 April 2007 Posted 4 April 2007 AHAHAHAHAH HAHHAHAHAHAHHANo I didn't take it to heart the refs in this country can be a bit shit. They're still better than Maltese refs though! You'd better get your facts right. First I said this particular year, the italian referees have been good. In any case read the stupid post again maybe your brains work it out. I also said last year they were unbelievably bad. Second I already said Maltese refs are as bad as the football quality. Despite this a couple of our officials have been to the world cup and european championship and they have all made it to 3rd official and in one case refereeing a world cup match (I believe it was 1998)
Head Honcho Posted 4 April 2007 Posted 4 April 2007 Ok i got it wrong Sorry Never admit you're wrong, just mis-informed
The Stig Posted 4 April 2007 Posted 4 April 2007 he can have good games, but can have bad days, and when he does they are very bad! i've seen him ref well a few times, but not really on a leicester match!
Geo V Posted 4 April 2007 Posted 4 April 2007 Yeah Ive seen him have good games too but it seems most refs want to be in the spotlight for some reason the daft sods.
Ultra Posted 4 April 2007 Posted 4 April 2007 The last FIFA-listed ref we had was Rob Styles, and he had a nightmare! But I doubt that Webb could possibly be as bad as Andy "Yes, Billy, anything you say, Billy" D'Urso was at Derby.
City Fan Posted 4 April 2007 Posted 4 April 2007 Best ref in the Premiership by a long way! Handled the Carling Cup Final brilliantly!
Ultra Posted 4 April 2007 Posted 4 April 2007 Best ref in the Premiership by a long way! Handled the Carling Cup Final brilliantly! Apart from the mass brawl at the end..

It's the most corrupt league in the world and you can never know for sure what is going on, even now. Their an example to no one!

It's the most corrupt league in the world and you can never know for sure what is going on, even now. Their an example to no one! I still don't agree. First of all the referees were under extreme pressure to do as requested by Mr Moggi general director of Juve, and that included physical violence. Those that didn't want to do as he requested were excluded from the list of top league referees, i.e. his life's investment in being one was ruined. The only people in the scandal documented to receive anything were the people designing which referee was to be at a particular game. To quote one of the club's president affected by the scandal namely Mr Cazzola of Bologna he said that the referees may be the same but they are doing their job properly, without being afraid of the repercussions of doing a proper job. In addition to this, most referees guilty of the worst decisions e.g. Paparesta have been banned from football altogether. Finally it could have had a bad reputation as a league but they are now cracking down. Even Serie D matches are scrutinized to eliminate any doubt of match fixing. My point remains to the end, that the style of refereeing a game in Italy is somewhat more accurate and poor decisions are often limited.

I admit I have seen some well officated matches in Serie A this season, espc in regards to spotting diving they seem to be ahead of English refs, but it will take more than a season to convince me, and I maintain a bunch of refs that we're run by the big clubs in Italy for years are no example to anyone. Also Serie A football runs at a slower pace and is easier to ref.
Cheese Me Posted 6 April 2007 Posted 6 April 2007 Webb is appalling. How can he be considered an 'elite' referee? Should be 1-0 up but 1-0 down instead. Not to mention all the other cr@p decisions!
Head Honcho Posted 6 April 2007 Posted 6 April 2007 Ok i got it wrong Sorry Maybe you never got it wrong the twat cost us the game today! willy puller
john_lcfc Posted 6 April 2007 Posted 6 April 2007 Webb had a decent game. hes a top referee and handled it well but we didnt win so who do we blame ?? the ref Edit: i wasnt sure of one decision when fryatt was going into the box
Milky Posted 6 April 2007 Posted 6 April 2007 Webb had a decent game.hes a top referee and handled it well but we didnt win so who do we blame ?? the ref Edit: i wasnt sure of one decision when fryatt was going into the box That was a blatant pen. I thought so at the time, and looking at the replay it was a bloody shirt pull then a piggy back!
Simi Posted 6 April 2007 Posted 6 April 2007 I've seen the replay, definate penalty as far as I am concered. Other than that he wasn't that bad I didn't think.
City Fan Posted 6 April 2007 Posted 6 April 2007 First 20 minutes he was diabolical, should have had a penalty after Moore's foul. After that, he was fantastic.

The blaming bit that is, for the most part I don't think people blame him for us not winning. First 20 minutes he was diabolical, should have had a penalty after Moore's foul. After that, he was fantastic (well, good enough at least - Burnham). That'll ding dang doo for me
