A Ray Illingworth/Ken Higgs 1975-esque last wicket stand would be good!

Edited to say: Wiki reckons it was actually 1977.   I always thought it was 1975.   ho hum ...

Can’t say I remember it for age reasons but sounds good! Wood has great technique, was surprised he’s 11.

Could still salvage a draw from this, play a bit more sensibly in the second innings and it's not actually that big an ask is it

5 sessions would be a very long time to bat out for though not impossible. They’d only get two new balls too. These guys have shown the pitch is offering little for the bowlers still.

Wood can definitely bat. Other than Salisbury and Hull don't think we have any bowlers who can't to be honest. Everyone else looks like they're good enough to go in at 8 at a minimum - Wood, Walker, Van Beek, Scrivo, Green are all very sound batters. Wright over the last couple seasons has been more than handy as well. Scrivo seems to have focused on his bowling but good enough to go in at 6 in my opinion.

Bats in the top three at Newtown Linford.

Well done tail Enders. Next target bat  out the day and as close to 329 as possible.

I like Felix White, Greg James and Jimmy Anderson but don't think they deserve too much credit on this occasion.

Salisbury can bat! Normally when the chips are down. 1) Durham v Derbyshire 2018 when he got 25 off 147 balls in a 99 run 9th wicket stand while his partner hit a ton. 2) Durham v Essex 2021, scored 44 in a 94 run 9th wicket partnership, 3) Durham v Middlesex 2022: scored 45 coming in at no 5 while wickets tumbled around him including Stokes, Borthwick, Eckersley. Came in as night watchman at the end of the day and was still there at lunch the following day.

Budinger just isn’t cut out for this sort of situation. Bad temperament. At least Derbyshire are also likely to lose. Glamorgan hopefully will draw at worst.

So disappointing from him when you look at the efforts from the 3 tailenders this morning.

The problem with the plan to bowl first because you think the pitch will be a difficult one on day 4 is that you have to get to day 4 and require them to bat.

Next game is v Derbyshire. Given the likely table after tomorrow, a win will be one foot promoted territory, so we have to get everyone back fit and firing. Rehan, Holland, Scriven and Hull all have to play.

If none fit you wonder whether they pull in an on loan bowler.
