Really poor times, Griff used to get bashed all over the ground every time he played.

More often then not.Was in the Lancashire side that won the T20 though

Frequently talked about playing for a club up in Yorkshire, presumably before he started commentating.

If you don't rate his commentary or his politics, just be honest about it ffs. No need to keep making up these daft arguments.

Yes he played club cricket so what so does Whitty.Haven't made up any daft arguments as far as im.aware.

I pointed out he wasn't a cricket commentator before joining RL when he was already over 50 and that like Whitty he made error after error.

You said he was "not a cricket guy" (not "not a cricket commentator") and implied Whitty was because he's played a decent level.

When I said he was not a cricket guy meant he was not a specialist cricket commentator before joining RL.

I simply then stated that Adam Whitty also plays club cricket in response to the comment about Richard playing club cricket.

One final word in defence of Whitty and Rafferty.

On a number occasions during the Glamorgan v Gloucestershire game  on sky last night  the commentators didn't have a clue who the fielders were until they saw replays..

Will admit they didn't call the umpire a referee though.

Standards of cricket commentary on the radio and streams nationally have dropped dramatically in recent years. We have been lucky to have Richard Rae for as long as we have. The BBC should hang their heads in shame.

Way of the world these days unfortunately- absolutely everything is monetised and statistised, relentlessly. Radio Leicester listening figures for cricket obviously not high enough to justify a specialist commentator from the budget.

Real shame, very easy on the ear and I enjoyed listening to him.

Surprised they cover it at all tbh.Obvs glad they do but it seems madness to provide live coverage for 7 hours of an event that only gets around 200\300 Watching live.

Would guess the listening figures would be incredible low.

Good point. Perhaps we should be grateful for what we have!

And these guys commentating on the Durham game are the perfect example of how bad it could get!! And the stream has crashed six times already!

Really poor batting again or good bowling…. Time will tell

Good bowling with very few short deliveries, field placement excellent. I just hope we have learnt from the last match no short bowling just aim for the stumps

Can't see Mike and Hull heeding that lesson.
