Rae never did the t20 stuff did he?

But yeah night and day here. One is a cricket guy, the other two for no fault of their own are not and are sports journos for the local radio. Rafferty a good foil for Owynn and Piper on the football.

He did, frequently, especially on radio. The BBC has deserted Leicester and abandoned their own values. Tonight’s performance on radio was far worse than what happened on the field. Those commentators were beyond clueless. Might as well have invited the cast of Vicar of Dibley to do it: I’m sure that Alice Tinker and Jim Trott could have done better! No, no, no, no, yes!

Last season in the T20 it felt like we ruined some good positions when batting by going too hard and throwing wickets away. Today's batting effort felt like an over correction to that, with far too little intent shown. It never really looked like we were going to chase down what was a good, but not insurmountable, target. Hopefully lessons will be learned, plenty of games to go.

Commentators as embarrassing as the performance. Every time there was a catch they got the player wrong who caught it. When Worcester were 170-7 said they are nailed on for 200, what with their tail nailed on to score ten an over? Total buffoons.

I really hope these idiots are not going to be doing the County Championship & 50 over games. listening to them for 7 hours will make everyone suicidal

Got Dearden flashbacks with the pace some scored at

Dreadful memories of one game in particular which we were cruising and then Dearden and another batter whose name escapes me couldn’t hit it off the square, they were in for ages and lost us the game.
Can someone name the other batter please?

Richard Rae was not a cricket guy.

He had never commemorated before joining Radio Leicester in 2013.

Who can forget did David Gower play in the final against Essex in 1985 Richard? who replied with pretty sure he had left by then😀😀..

Good God he didn't even know the first name of Shane Snater last week who's played for Essex for years.

Adam Whitty plays club cricket to a good standard so obvs takes an interest in the game.

Not  saying he didn't make mistakes last night but will improve over time..

Not sure what's happened to Andy Gibbs?Bit on the dull side but he was steady enough.

I hope you're right, but it feels like our squad isn't as good as it was last year, it's not just the difference in quality between the two divisions. We didn't nail the overseas recruitment, and I think this squad would have difficult getting promotion out of Div 2. It'll have a knock on effect on the T20 too. Looks like this will be a very learning lessons year, so I just hope that some success is had in good recruitment.

Adam Whitty has done some commentary on the T20 in the past, along side Rae, and he was shite then too, so I wouldn't hold your breath when it comes to him improving. Last night's commentary was simply embarrassing. If they had to get rid of Rae, at least replace him with someone half competent, rather than a very poor version of Laurel and Hardy.

I wouldn't play Hull and Mike in the same team, that's basically giving away 80 runs before we even bowl a ball!

Basically we were outplayed. We decided to bowl short and gave away tons of runs. They bowled at the stumps and with excellent field placing completely reduced our chance of boundaries

Had a quick look at the stats from last night's game.

As expected, Worcs hit significantly more boundaries (21 4s and 7 6s) compared to us (13 4s and 5 6s):

Interestingly, however, we bowled far more dot balls: 44 to 33. Mike personified this difference by bowling the most dot balls of any player in the match (12) whilst conceding numerous boundaries, as usual.

It was telling that a lot of the boundaries we conceded came from short pitched bowling by faster bowlers. By contrast, Worcs' variety of medium pacers taking pace off were much more successful, in the same way as Green and Davey were for us. I also think we lack a quality spinner capable of taking wickets, as Parky used to. Trevaskis is usually fairly economical (though wasn't last night) but he doesn't really pick up enough wickets, which is crucial if you're going to restrict the scoring rate of the oppo.

Frequently talked about playing for a club up in Yorkshire, presumably before he started commentating.

If you don't rate his commentary or his politics, just be honest about it ffs. No need to keep making up these daft arguments.

That’s him, thanks for reminding me all I could think of was Cunliffe but I knew it couldn’t have been him 👍🏻

First time anyone's thanked someone for reminding them of George Rhodes!

Batting lineup with Evans, Rhodes and Dearden. Attack of Griffiths, Davis and Sakande. Turgid times.

I'll take what we have now!

The bowling short must have been a pre conceived plan with the coach, it really backfired. We were really off it in every department, hopefully bounce back tomorrow.

Really poor times, Griff used to get bashed all over the ground every time he played.

Hull is terrible! Done absolutely nothing since that 50 over final. I think England have ruined him!

Not sure about that.He was poor before he played for England

Sakande only ever played about twice.
