I'd not be against trialling Mike coming in earlier in t20. I've long thought his batting has more potential than his bowling and he scores quickly in t20 and can clear the ropes with ease when on song.

if no Rehan then Trevaskis and an order reshuffle

Comfortably bat down to 11 there.

It goes without saying that we need good starts when we bat and get some early wins under our belts,. The opening partnership is key and if Budinger gets going we can post some big scores.

Ben Mike needs to be on top form with his bowling as he’s potentially the one who can be expensive.
Our 2 overseas batsmen also need to win us some games. We don’t want another Hamish Rutherford 🤣

It also helps that Turner bowls off spin which gives us 6 good bowling options. Turner and Kelly are proper leaders too to go with the others which equates to a strong dressing room. Looking forward to this

I wouldn't be surprised if we went with A Patel as our second overseas option whilst Ahmed isn't available thus giving us 2 spin option in him and Trevaskis. Kelly will probably be saved for the CC

Kelly skippered New Zealand in a T20 the other week. We're not leaving him out of anything unless we have to.

Wonder if Joe Root will be playing at GR tomorrow? It's officially a 2nd  team game but sides normally play the first team as a warm up for friday.I know we are putting out a strong side.

Just a note on that. Ian Holland is in the Washington Freedom squad for MLC: 18th June - 18th July. I don't know how much he is going for, but could miss some championship and blast games.

More of a first team playing in the second game. Kelly is playing, but no A.Patel in either team.

What's the XI for this second match?

First match - Foxes batting first 167-7 off 20

Tatts 52 no

180+ is the par score for t20s these days I feel. Throughout the blast we’ll see plenty of teams smash through 200.

Fast starts needed and someone in the middle to go big what the rest can bat around.

Benny Mike gets a bad rep on here but the guy is a match winner and has to play every T20 and 50’over game when fit. Just smashed 28 off 9 to propel us to 201/6

I don't think anyone's questioning his batting potential; someone's just made the case for moving him up the order.

There's just frustration at his inability to bowl economically, and at his ability to lose you a T20 match if he has a bad first couple of overs. You can normally tell within minutes if this is going to happen.

Agree with the first part but the second part is a bit harsh. What’s it like being a clairvoyant?

No need for silly sarcasm.

Anyone who watches an opening spell from Ben Mike in a T20 can usually spot from the first few balls whether he's spraying it all over the place and being clouted to the boundary, or whether he's focused and "on it" that evening.

If the T20 team balance allowed it, I'd have Mike in as a middle order batsman to add some acceleration, and as 6th/7th bowler to "buy" a wicket around the 10-12th over if the game is slipping away from us.
