Selection of the XL shouldn't just be down to the Head Coach, though. The captain should have a big input.

I also thought that one of the original intentions behind appointing a DOC was to line manage the players and take that responsibility away from the Head Coach. So if a player has been disciplined, surely that would have been Henderson's decision and not Thomas'.

With Handscombe as captain I would agree because he would stand his ground, however as I’ve said before Thomas is a control freak and will ride roughshod over the current captains

Reading all of the previous pages, maybe Jarvis was actually better at his job than many gave him credit for in terms of actual club management.

Also the comments on Oliver Hawke are disgusting. Was old ‘this little light of mine’ Louis a nutter? No. It’s nice to have passionate fans, likelihood is he probably just meets conditions for ASC or something (like my good self).

Ajaz Patel is bowling well considering he’s not in the squad lol

A really good stint from him today, which begs the question of why he was not signed for the T20 (where we needed some control in the bowling). Although there've been factors beyond the coaches' control as regards this year's overseas signings, this needs to be part of the post-season inquest, together with the underperformance of various players.

Regardless of what we do in the One Day Cup, if we're relegated from the CC, then certain people's time should probably be up.

Alex Green is just joke levels good in 50 over cricket. Average of 20 and did better than that today again. Sadly we’ll lose him to the 16.4 before the tournament is over.

He's fantastic, I can see him having a great career. Much more repeatable action than Josh Hull has at the moment, though hopefully he gets over this bad season.

He was signed for the T20 they just choose Kelly and Turner instead.

Great win!

I read that ourselves and Gloucestershire are the two teams least affected losing players to the hundred in this, us with 1 and them with 0.

Sam Wood joins Notts on loan for the one day campaign...how utterly bizarre....

They’re obviously short on seamers. Can’t get near our squad and will be a 1/60 bowler.

The Cricketer has Thomas saying the following about Ben Cox, after the game:

"There's conversations going on in terms of contracts and stuff," said Thomas after play, when asked by The Cricketer whether he hoped to retain Cox's services.

"I'm not going to talk about that at the moment. We're constantly looking at players, and we're not blessed with the biggest budget, so we've got to see where we get the best value for our money.

"In terms of contracts and stuff, that's not my department to say who's getting a contract and who's not getting a contract."

It’s always good to weaken your rivals!

Reminds me of when City were in the championship and Ali Mauchlen who wasn't getting in the side signed for Leeds  on loan who were top of the PL and ended up winning it.Before anyone corrects me I know this was the last season before the PL started 91\92
