Thracian Posted 25 April 2007 Posted 25 April 2007 Id love him here as a coach Link Is he any good as a coach?
Jon the Hat Posted 25 April 2007 Posted 25 April 2007 Is he any good as a coach? Who knows. I expect he is looking to play for another year anyway.
FrankieWorthoYaggedMyWife Posted 25 April 2007 Posted 25 April 2007 Is he any good as a coach? You wanted Gerry Taggart as coach last week and he's got no proper experiance!!! I'd take Lennon as a player though to be honest!
Manwell Pablo Posted 25 April 2007 Posted 25 April 2007 **** giving him a coaching role offer him a year playing contract.
Jon the Hat Posted 25 April 2007 Posted 25 April 2007 **** giving him a coaching role offer him a year playing contract. Yep. A bit of passion would do us no end of good.
Jon the Hat Posted 25 April 2007 Posted 25 April 2007 give him a player/coach role Away with your sensible middle ground suggestions!
Thracian Posted 25 April 2007 Posted 25 April 2007 You wanted Gerry Taggart as coach last week and he's got no proper experiance!!!I'd take Lennon as a player though to be honest! Not quite - I made a suggestion to perhaps sort an emergency. I would ask exactly the same question about Taggart. Is he a good coach?. In neither case am I presuming an answer. I would not care so much about the "proper experience" - I would want to want them take some coaching sessions and perhaps deal with team preparation for a friendly or two before making up my mind. Former players are not always good coaches by any means, as we should well know by now. Not even good ones.
THEBIGJOHNSTEADER; Posted 25 April 2007 Posted 25 April 2007 give him a player/coach role I'd love to see him back, similar mould to keane, has character and presence that can wash off on other players.
The People's Hero Posted 25 April 2007 Posted 25 April 2007 You wanted Gerry Taggart as coach last week and he's got no proper experiance!!! You forget that Thracian's opinion changes with the wind and that even the stupidest of suggestions can be enhanced with ridiculous imagery, analogies and hyperbole. Why simply admit for example that Hammond is a shi tter (albeit a quick one) when some meaningless babble, a few made up statistics and some bizarre logic could persuade impressionable youngsters otherwise?
Mort Posted 25 April 2007 Posted 25 April 2007 If he can do half the job that Yorke has managed for Sunderland then great, that kind of flexibility, attitude and pure quality could do for us very well. What we do not want is to bring in a player who's really "past it" simply because of his past service to the club... that said, I love for him to come here in the (for want of a better word) utility role that Yorke's fulfilled at Sunderland while at the same time he'll be free to also work with the coaching set up and pursue his managment ambitions.
London_Fox Posted 25 April 2007 Posted 25 April 2007 I'll admit to not having seen an awful lot of Celtic this year but my impression is that he could still do a job for us, at least for a year and then we can see whether there is a role for him at the club or not. The role that he plays in midfield is physically very demanding and dividing it between him and Weso (as well as Lennon maybe helping Weso develop) seems like a sensible option. It's still early for Weso to play every game in that position and perhaps a little late for Lennon to do the same. I also strongly believe that we lack some Leicester identity/passion at the club right now and that could come from Lennon as much as anyone else, especially if he was still playing. Anyone know what kind of physical condition he's kept himself in this year?
Thracian Posted 25 April 2007 Posted 25 April 2007 I'd love to see him back, similar mould to keane, has character and presence that can wash off on other players. Who's place would he take in midfield?. There's nothing he can do that Weso can't and we don't need another playmaking midfielder - we need an attacker. King gets no credit from anyone for whatever mysterious reason so we need someone else. Cos if you espect us to get anywhere need the Premiership with our usual absence of goalscoring midfielders you can forget it. And that's warning in advance on April 25, same as was given last year.
Ric Flair Posted 25 April 2007 Posted 25 April 2007 I would not be surprised to see him heavily linked with us in the next few weeks and months. The question is, do we go for him as player manager with an experienced Coach/Director of Football alongside him? The possibilities are endless, but the fact is, he's still got what it takes at this level as a player.

Fuk and off Thracian one day you may be able to compare James Wesolowski and Neil Lennon but that day is a long way away from now. Any way as I've said a thousand times we need some depth. Good quality depth not Andy Johnson, Geoff Horsfield and Alan Sheehan depth.

I really believe Wortho will become director of football to a younger manager, so it could be Lennon, but like you say its anyone's guess with the numberous possibilities availible.

You are right Thracian, but if we are honest, is Wesolowski going to play 46 games next season? It's too early to tell. His influence and experience is needed here next season, as a player/coach or possibly as manager.

Cheese Me Posted 25 April 2007 Posted 25 April 2007 If he can still do a job on the pitch then a years contract to round off his carear could make sense, at the same time he could work with the coaching set up and a player with his attitude, quality and link with City would be a real plus... but we shouldnt just have him here becasue of his "legend" status, Taggs and Muzzy are already in the coaching set up as it is... but if he can still play then yes and in return the club can help him with his coaching. Are they???? Completely missed that one. Happy to hear it though

Ric Flair Posted 25 April 2007 Posted 25 April 2007 I wouldn't want him as manager, too risky. With the right coach/DoF alongside him it could work. But yes, it is risky.

Milky Posted 25 April 2007 Posted 25 April 2007 would it really be all that risky? He'll have the respect of the players, he's had the MON experiance, he'll have passion and ambition. I suppose there is risk in the fact he's never done it before, but hey, what's the worst that can happen
