Lennon leaving celtic

Taggs/ Muzzy are both junior team caoches at the moment, I'd be suprised if was ahead of these two to be fair.

Taggs/ Muzzy/Walsh and lenny as a 4 man team would be the stuff of dreams.

But wortho is not the answer.

He's miles ahead in terms of coaching compared to the stuff we've had so far. I didn't realise Kelly was that bad until the last two weeks. I never imagined a manager to be that unprofessional in his approach as Kelly was being. Still I hope he reflects on this experience and goes back and improves his management.

Unless you are very shortminded, Weso has spent the majority of the season in the treatment room whereas Lennon has played consistently at a higer level and won things. Hmm I think I'd take Lennon in the champ over Weso next season!!

And your use of tenses is the key. Weso was on the treatment table but is now playing wonderfully and Lennon has played at a higher level but is just about to move downwards, and rapidly I imagine, just like Johnson.

Weso is the now and Lennon is the past. As for being the manager I'd be very surprised if he was anything like the best option and I wouldn't even contemplate the idea. As a coach I have an open mind.

What’s the answer FIAB?

the answer my friend is blowing in the wind the answer is blowing in the wind.....

Phil thompson! Joe Royal.. Both technically good.

Money must be on Coleman, but i'd like a coleman/ ince duo! myself

Why would either of them want to share the gig?

I have been saying for the last 2 years that we need a quality holiding midfielder to strengthen our game and break up play in the middle. Lennon would be ideal for this and would free up transfer funds to spend elsewhere. You got to remember that Tiatto and Johnson are not gonna be there next season, so who will boss the midfield? Lennon - ideal answer for a year whilst we stabelise ourselves. And great experience for the young uns in the team. I know its only a short term answer, but I think it would be a great move right now - as a player NOT coach yet. Can just imagine half time 1-0 down players go into the dressing room and get an earful from walshy, taggs and Lennon. I'd be well scared!

Lennon would be fantastic in this division. He never had pace or stamina, but he will always have the dominating presence, good passing, fantastic vision and ball winning skills.

I can't think of anything more ideal than getting him in as player/coach with a view to managing the club eventually.

I can only imagine this is a joke without the appropriate smiley added to the end! All four together sounds like a train wreck. Far too many people trying to take control. They could all have a role under one manager (not at the same time mind).

Weso has been injured an awful lot and that does seem to be a theme with him so far. Hoping that won't continue isn't really enough and having someone crap like AJ around isn't really an option either. Weso is not now, he is the future. Lennon is not yet the past either. That's why having both might benefit Weso, take some pressure off him and teach him stuff...there aren't many people he could learn so much from and he's going to need someone. I can't see him being ready as a coach yet but playing alongside the youngsters may well interest him and benefit them. I really don't think that sticking Weso in the middle every week and telling him to get on with it is the answer. I might change my mind if Ince was the manager (someone else to learn from) but can't see any of our current squad being able to help him progress.

Solid defensive midfield players in the mould of Keane, Viera, Gattuso are rare. There was Ince, Batty at times but Lennon was up there with a few others. Experience, quality and passion wise I can't see many who can rival him at the moment and are within the realms of possiblity for us.

i've never met Lennon but i 've met people who have. i'm told that he's an introvert, indecisive and a bit too keen on the beer. not really the coaching/managing type.

Think about how much Weso could learn from Lennon, then, when we are in the Premiership, Weso will be in the staring XI, having all that mentoring under his belt.

Having said that I think that Lennon is still Premier quality, and a move to Villa is more llikely, where some of his ex-Celtic teammates are.

If it was a couple of years ago I'd agree with you.

He's probably still got a couple of years left in him. He's been playing for Celtic at the highest level over the last few seasons and I don't think a chance like this can be ignored. I think he could be a good midfielder for this division possibly.

Who knows, maybe a one year contract or something to see how he goes? :dunno:

He might have two seasons of Scottish football left in him, though I doubt it, but not two years of Championship football. But let people find out the hard way. We seem to have an inner wish to do that anyway.

Back up? The bloke captined a team that reached the Champions league knock out stages and then took AC Milan to extra time this season. Back up, FFS.

I really don't want to piss on everyone's chips but he was shit in that game - he looked old, slow and limited.

I hope to God he is not going to come here because he offers us nothing beyond memories. Lennon is not the future of Leicester City Football Club, he is part of its past.

It was in the ****ing Champions League against AC Milan!!!!! Who are you expecting us to sign!!!!!!!!!

Regardless of whether he played for us before, he would be one of the classiest players in the division and that's what we are hopefully aspiring to next season.

There's no doubt he has the quality and I think he's the sort of player we need. I just can't believe people are rejecting a player who's played in the Champions League knockout stage this season! :o

I am dumbstruck by half of the posts in this thread.

****ing dumbstruck. :frusty:

Given the shit you've had to deal with over the past three years, you find them wanting Lennon so obtrusive to your palate?

It's ok.

I know it's hard sometimes.

I got torn to pieces for having the audacity to suggest Lennon may be used as a possible back up player.

Ridiculous. So forget a good player with loads of experience and who can dictate the game, who would be willing to come here because of history and is probably not very fussy on wages. Lets get another AJ instead will we?

I'm not sure obtrusive is the correct word - but I find the statements that a manic depressive with no training or experience should be employed as a coach to be borderline idiocy. :w00t:

Maybe he could do a job for 12 months...but what is the ****ing point? :dunno: We are at a stage where we can start to build a squad for the future and yet the cry goes up to drag in a player that has decided he cant cut it anymore in the Scottish equivalent of The Championship.

I'm in awe.

I'm not sure if people (including myself) are saying that in reference to his being continuously linked with as manager after Levein. I find the man gritty and not unlike Keane in not letting players bullshit about.

Alternatively...

People are willing to dismiss signing the captain of the Scottish champions. We're not in the Premiership anymore. He doesn't have to be as good as he was. He'd boss this league with no problems at all. We'd be lucky to have him. Alternatively, we can take risky punts on £500,000 players who might turn out to be good and might not.

Personally I think it's a bit simplistic to say he's old and he used to play for us, therefore we should move on and sign younger players. That is no less of a risk cos you have to give them longer contracts and they might be no better than the likes of Stephen Hughes.

Just the other day Shunsuke Nakamura mentioned Lennon in particular as being the unsung hero of this season's Celtic team when he picked up the Scottish Player of the Year award. That's good enough for me.

That's what charity matches are for.

I think in the cold light of day, someone like Sam Allardyce or Harry Redknapp will offer Neil Lennon £40k p/w for 12 months (+ another 12 month option).

I'd question his sanity as well his professional and financial judgement if he came back to us next season.

I can't believe you'd really want another AJ?
