Durnerz Posted 13 May 2007 Posted 13 May 2007 Good List there Durnerz, also i'd like to see Marlon King or Luke Moore here. Cheers, you're more likely to get Boothroyd than his Golden boy King, as for Moore im pretty sure hes in O'Neills plans. IMO we need a completely new and inventive midfield with a recognised playmaker and a hard working midfielder alongside him who can chip in with a few (Hence Nicholls and playmaker Hendrie) adding to that a previous top scorer in Todorov and a 20 goal striker in Steve Howard it would be a lethal frontline, Premiership experience of Samuel, pace and invention going forward also with him would be valuable also youth in Sinclair on the wing. All we would need is a decent manager to get the best out them and have the ambition to get them here, Billy Davies anyone?
Thracian Posted 13 May 2007 Posted 13 May 2007 Here's a modest wish: It is May 13. And May 15 is Joe Mattock's 17th birthday. What I'd like to hear is that Joe has safely signed a two year contract for Leicester City. I know he's involved in a tournament right now but I'd still like to hear that it has happened. And if it does I hope Joe will consider it the birthday present of his life so far and go on to enjoy a long and distinguished career. Such a happening would be another notch on the Academy's list of successes. You reap what you sow and the harvest of the last two years has been exceptional. Let's hope the senior management can complete the final ripening...

NorthernFox Posted 13 May 2007 Posted 13 May 2007 I would like to see Wes Hoolahan from Blackpool (on loan from SPL) in our midfield. Not the fastest in the world but very creative. Would suit Hume down to a tee as he actually passes to feet!
Brainy Posted 13 May 2007 Posted 13 May 2007 I also watched the Blackpool game and noticed there were quite a few Blackpool players who had a bit of quality. Doubt any of them would be good enough here..

C-man Posted 13 May 2007 Posted 13 May 2007 Keigan Parker, he would be slick. He isn't great. Would take Hoolahan though.
Ric Flair Posted 14 May 2007 Posted 14 May 2007 Lee Frecklington. Good shout pal, he's highly rated. Thracian...how do you know of Kristian Sarkies?..He is one of our many fine youngsters at Melbourne Victory. Jaffa, it was me who suggested Sarkies. I hear he is highly rated back in Oz and could turn out to be absolutely quality. I'm sure we were linked with him a while back?
Lester LXXIV Posted 14 May 2007 Posted 14 May 2007 Probably already mentioned but i'd take Lee Cook from QPR, he was quality when we played at their place!
Mascherano Posted 14 May 2007 Posted 14 May 2007 Varney Kerlon Healy Cresswell Nicholls Derry Eastwood Gower Maher Sodje Ellington Rommedahl M.Bent Todorov Akinbiyi
lildave3 Posted 14 May 2007 Posted 14 May 2007 I'm pretty sure we'd never get him, but i'd love JFH to come in...Link Edit - Just for you LWICD
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 14 May 2007 Posted 14 May 2007 Michael Stewart is a good defensive midfielder is being released by Hibs in the summer. I think he was on trial with Sunderland though, more likely to join them thatn us.
darko2k7 Posted 14 May 2007 Posted 14 May 2007 I was watching sky sports news today (Monday) when they do their transfer rumours they said that billy sharp was a transfer target for sheff w for 1.5m now even we could do that my only concern is can he make the step up as long as we get a 20 goal+ a season forward im not fussed
Mort Posted 14 May 2007 Posted 14 May 2007 I'm pretty sure we'd never get him, but i'd love JFH to come in...Link Why? ...he'd old, his wages would be massive, he's struggled for a season or two now and did i mention he was old? Cant cut it in the prem any more and i doubt he could cut it in the championship, personally i think he could simply retire as i dont see any decent clubs going in for him now.

He's still a very good finisher, i'm sure there'd be plenty of takers in The Championship. I wouldn't bet against him getting 15-20 goals at this level. Just look at Kevin Phillips, he's had a very good season at this level and he's about the same age. Ok, Phillips hasn't the reputation of Hasselbaink and has played at this level before, but if Hasselbaink is willing to drop down a league then it proves it's not money he's doing it for. If he still has the application and motivation then he'd be an asset to any team in our league.

I have no doubt Hasselbaink could score a load of goals in the Championship, it's just whether he would step down a league and also whether he would play for Leicester! I think in terms of a 'short fix', he would be ideal. Not a likely target though I wouldn't have thought, although I have been wrong before!

Rumour is that after the game when we lost 3-1 at home to QPR Tim Davies made a bid to sign Lee Cook on loan, i'll see if i can still find the link
