davieG Posted 18 June 2007 Posted 18 June 2007 I thought we had a couple of players who were above 18, as that was the reason some people gave for us winning the title? That were we older, bigger and stonger I think the implication was that some other teams were playing younger players as in 16 because their 18s were in their reserve teams.
Soar Fox Posted 18 June 2007 Posted 18 June 2007 I think the implication was that some other teams were playing younger players as in 16 because their 18s were in their reserve teams. So what your saying is teams had 16 year olds playing beacuse there 18 year olds were in the reserve's While we had some 19 year olds playing because they can't get in are reserve's? what does that say then are youngsters aren't as adavanced as most 18 year olds point proved
Lord Nibblington Posted 18 June 2007 Posted 18 June 2007 So what your saying is teams had 16 year olds playing beacuse there 18 year olds were in the reserve'sWhile we had some 19 year olds playing because they can't get in are reserve's? what does that say then are youngsters aren't as adavanced as most 18 year olds point proved Wow. Just wow. That's impressive. I'm in awe. Oh. You do know we didn't have a reserve team last season, right?
Soar Fox Posted 18 June 2007 Posted 18 June 2007 Err maybe do you know otherwise??? and you de relise Louis Dodds and Alan Sheehan etc don't actually play in our academy. All our players were 18 or younger at the start of the Academy campaign they're the rules.Don't get me wrong I'd be up for signing any of those three players, as well as Lupoli they were all tipped to have extremly bright futures. They're a bit of a different propersition than "Some youth team player from Arsenal or Chelsea" and also much harder to sign, this is why the abover players ended up at one of the biggest clubs in our league. A few of our young lads deserve a chance, they've been giving proffesional contracts and I would like to see what they've got at some point, not have them outed by some kid from Arsenal who will play for us for six months then leave. Were Derby a bigger club than us last summer???
Fez of Mahrez Posted 18 June 2007 Posted 18 June 2007 Were Derby a bigger club than us last summer??? Of course they were. Pots of cash and a bloody decent manager in comparison. You bring shame to the name Steve Walsh.
Daggers Posted 18 June 2007 Posted 18 June 2007 Back on topic: Is anyone else worried or is it just me? I am worried that I am going to have to read more negative, ill-considered bollocks. To the extent that I think I may take a hiatus from FT until the bleeding season kicks off; my block list has reached idiotic proportions and yet more and more numbskulls keep coming out of the woodwork and adding their strained logic to the proceedings.

When will they learn to fall in line and simply take on the argument and opinion of an established, respected poster? *sigh*
escape2victory Posted 18 June 2007 Posted 18 June 2007 What point are you trying to make ?I just don't want players like Andy Johnson players that we will only get a season or half a season out of at best if were going to sign older players we should at least be aiming to get 2 full seasons out of them unless they get injured or suspended or players like Carl Cort who spend most of the time injured. Really its not a hard criteria to match is it unless you really think that we should be signing a load of Alcoholics, Druggies and Gamblers ? And yes we are a better or at least equal proposition to places like Burnley, Preston, Wolves and Norwich but we continue to let quality players go to them without putting up much of a fight. We might not have had money up until recently but its still happening. I'm not the most knowledgable on all this and i'm not an FM bumming kid but its not hard to see that we are still losing out to clubs which really we should be beating and still settling for second best. The point im trying to make is that more or less every signing Leicester have made in their history has been a gamble of some description. Either they were not wanted by bigger teams, are unproven at this level or come with baggage. Its just the way it is im afraid, and for you to be moaning that we are not signing quality players when the window hasnt even officially opened yet is bordering on mental. I suggest we reserve judgement on the transfer window until it closes at the end of August, or at least until it opens !!!

Suffolk_fox Posted 18 June 2007 Posted 18 June 2007 Things us Citeh fans have been worried about.... CL taking us down to Div One RK taking us down to Div One LCFC going bust MM Takeover falling through MM asset stripping us Ian Dowie being manager I could go on if I could really be arsed. I could get quotes too to back me up. These are things which the inherently depressing negative Citeh fan has worried about. And how many have come to pass? It beggars belief, it really does. Someone comes on here and wrings their hands, and before too long the entire forum is full of wailing and nashing of teeth. Yeah, our new signings aren't exactly Champions League material but hell, has anyone checked to see where we are in the table? Getting back to where we belong will be a long long haul, and keeping a nervous eye over our shoulders doesn't help anyone. Look forward!
lookwhaticando Posted 18 June 2007 Posted 18 June 2007 How could anyone block you, your living proof that you need neither wit nor football knowledge to get by on this forum Still, it could be worse... I could attempt to buff up my scant knowledge of football in general by comparing and rating players based on their godliness in Football Manager.

Im not sure what your trying to imply there my Canadian friend. If it is that the great Manuel get my knowledge from FM your are in fact...err wrong. I think I looked up Sergio Hellings as FM is literally the only source I can find on him.

I wasn't implying anything about you at all. Apologies if that seemed to be the case - it really isn't. I was talking in general terms. I'd rather be hopelessly lacking football knowledge than attempt to seem knowledgeable by constantly making reference to some kind of virtual reality or computer game. I know I don't know much about football - I've never taken a deep interest in the game as a whole. I picked a team to support and follow them as much as possible without concerning myself too much about everyone else. I'm a bit like David Brent really: Finch: "What are you talking about, you don't know about football" Brent: "Guilty, I support Reading..."
