mancunianfox Posted 21 June 2007 Posted 21 June 2007 I hope that whatever their smoking blows over Manchester because I could really do with some inspiration right now. Having said that, City want Sven so maybe they're hitting off of it too.
NFFC Chris Posted 21 June 2007 Posted 21 June 2007 aren't they broke?mind you their council seems to have plenty of cash - new ice rink, tram system.... - wouldn't be surprised if it's some kind of municiple ground! Thankfully not anymore, fuming at this announcement, the soul is going to be ripped out of the club and we're just going to be another club with a fancy flash new stadium but with no character whatsoever, just like yours and D*rbys stadium.Hate is a very strong word and I hate very few people but it is evergrowing for our tosspot of a board

Proabably be 20 thousand maximum. Factoid. You will be laughing stock. Build the fecker

Finnegan Posted 22 June 2007 Posted 22 June 2007 Errr. You what? Fifty thousand, they having a laugh? They don't even fill the City Ground. Surely filling your current stadium should be a prerequisite for considering expansion? What's next? Home Park to be knocked down in place of the Plymouth Bowl, eighty thousand seater stadium?
Mort Posted 22 June 2007 Posted 22 June 2007 Looks very like the Notts Trent Uni campus (which is actually rather nice)... but 50,000! ...thats just barmy, they'd need to be using it for a lot more than just a venue for a club thats currently in League One (stating the obvious i know). Theres pros and cons to a new ground, but what I hate is ging to Derby or Southampton etc. and they're ground is virtually identical We could've at least had some originality <_< Agree... Pompey and Man City both have (or are in the process of) producing some pretty decent new grounds, but then you have the likes of us or Wigan or Saints, that have the least inspring, most dirivative grounds imaginable... yeah its just a place to play and watch football... but it'd be nice to have some character. One thing you can say for the Forrest proposal (stupidly large as it is!) is that its a bit diffrent.
Master Fox Posted 22 June 2007 Posted 22 June 2007 What a fantastic, innovative, and brilliant idea this is. We could dump the Walkers and ground share with Forest.
SystonFox Posted 22 June 2007 Posted 22 June 2007 build it and watch them sink further into the mire. even funnier than D*rby being a 44,000 seater stadium when they get in Europe in 2 years. hahahahaha
NFFC Chris Posted 22 June 2007 Posted 22 June 2007 Its ok having a nice new ground, but not when it will not be half full in League 1. Proabably be 20 thousand maximum.Factoid. You will be laughing stock. Build the fecker We along with Leeds are already the laughing stock of the country, this just cements this position.I know it's unlikely but we could be in the bloody conference in 2014.Great idea my arse Mr Arthur and Mr Doughty
SystonFox Posted 22 June 2007 Posted 22 June 2007 what do other trees fans think? i know you're quite sensible when it comes to it but alot of other forest fans will just say "we won 2 european cups once upon a time when the green man owned us so we deserve a shiny big bowl of a complex stadium".

A lot of people on the forest forum seem to be for it unforunately, but thanfully aren't saying the phrase mentioned but there's bound to be the odd twat.People seem to think it's showing ambition but my defination of ambition would be investing heavily in the acedmedy and in new signings,a new stadium isn't neccessary for us IMO,maybe if we were in the premiership but the timing could'nt have been any worse!
SystonFox Posted 22 June 2007 Posted 22 June 2007 agreed. my definition of ambition for LCFC would be to sign a couple of players who are proven and can get people excited (ST Enticers if you like) and then help us go higher up the championship next season.i think we have a decent academy already (Stearman, Weso, Porter, Logan and Mattock proove this) so we dont really need to spend money their.

Sounds like a smokescreen to cover for all the current failure, propose something (stadium) that is so outrageous in it's concept and has absolutely no chance of getting off the ground - purpose to deflect attention away from the real problems. Politicians and big businesses do it all the while. LCFC did it with the naming of our ground when they came up with the Walkers Bowl everyone was so outraged at the Bowl aspect that the Walkers sponsorship just sailed through with out a whimper leaving us forever, in reality with a nameless ground.
Monk Posted 22 June 2007 Posted 22 June 2007 We along with Leeds are already the laughing stock of the country, this just cements this position.I know it's unlikely but we could be in the bloody conference in 2014.Great idea my arse Mr Arthur and Mr Doughty You could be in the Conference in 2010 if this thing goes through! The ONLY reason I could see it being feasible is if it was being funded by a body who would not otherwise be investing the money in players. For example, say if it was paid for with lottery money, then obviously there is not an alternative to have it invested in players. Flipside is - if they are financing this with club money, or worse, with debt then they are making a horrendous mistake. In which case you would probably end up in administration if you did not get promoted very swiftly, thus a points deduction and relegation to oblivion. That said for all the Milan Manderics out there - Forest would be a great buy surely? They do definately have a heck of a lot of potential (as much as I hate to say it). With the right chairman and money they could be a big club again relatively quickly. Or, they could be finished.

I agree with you. Forest will just be another to join the bowl convention of stadiums.
Father Ted Posted 24 June 2007 Posted 24 June 2007 even nearer to leicester...................Nottingham Forest have unveiled plans for a multi-million pound 50,000-capacity stadium on the edge of the city. The club wants to leave the City Ground and move to a site off the A453 near Clifton. It is hoped the new stadium would host World Cup matches in 2018 if England wins the right to stage the championships. The stadium is part of plans to redevelop about 300 acres of land. There could be hotel, restaurants, bars and leisure facilities, housing and industrial units. The site would be linked to the city not only by the A453, which is due to be turned into a dual carriageway by 2011, but also the proposed extension to the tram system and the new Parkway train station near the M1, which is scheduled for completion in 2009. Forest chief executive Mark Arthur hopes the stadium design will be 'groundbreaking'. The plan has been drawn up in partnership with Leicester developers Wilson Bowden. Forest had explored the possibility of extending the City Ground - which was a host venue during Euro 96 - but transport problems and land issues scuppered the idea. HAHA  Nice Joke by the Forest scum
Micky Ruddle Posted 24 June 2007 Posted 24 June 2007 Just what do they plan to fill it with exactly? Cardboard cut-outs of Brian Clough to mask the empty seats? I was thinking that too. They don't have full-houses anyway, so makes them think that they will fill their new ground!
Father Ted Posted 24 June 2007 Posted 24 June 2007 They just want the best stadium in the East Midlands. Derby made Pride Park. Then we made the Walkers. And they are left with that little crumbling piece of sh*t.
Ultra Posted 24 June 2007 Posted 24 June 2007 What a fantastic, innovative, and brilliant idea this is. We could dump the Walkers and ground share with Forest. Please tell me you're joking...... If you're not, you have no business being on this forum.
Vacamion Posted 25 June 2007 Posted 25 June 2007 Being a state of the art stadium, it will have a moving roof, like the Millennium Stadium :
