Shaun Newton today became Leicester City manager Martin Allen's 10th signing.

Newton, who played for City on loan at the end of last season, was out of contract at West Ham and has signed a one year deal.

For full story see today's Leicester Mercury.

If confirmed, bit of a shame if you ask me. Was more than pleased with Ka'abi first choice RM, Gradel second choice.

Maybe Chambers/Mattock will play left back and Ka'abi will play right back after all.

The Hoss can play in the centre of midfield as well though I believe?

Until it's confirmed on the OS we'll leave it in here, I wouldn't like to think the Merc has got it right for once and has a genine scoop.

He wasn't that bad. I reckon he'd be ok in a good team.

No I quite liked him but I just don't see the need now we've signed Ka'abi and we've already got Gradel. This would signal a season in the reserves for Gradel in my opinion, either that or Chambers is being lined up to play left-back and Ka'abi at right-back as I posted in the other thread. I dunno.

I can't say I'm overly pleased, I didn't think his attitude/fitness, not sure which was up to it, he drifted out of games for considerable periods of time and I got the feeling he was just joining in when he felt like it.

Let's hope it was just fitness.

A weird decision, but nowt wrong with Newton's ability. Just can't see the point of signing him when we already have K'Aebi, Hayes and Gradel for right wing.

Think you might be right there Fezmeister.

All the reports I've read have had Hayes down as a left winger. But still, agree.

A good squad doesn't need at least 3 players who can play in a position then...?! Decent signing in that context

Probably means that Stearman will be moved to centre back to compete with N'Gotty, Kisnorbo and McAuley leaving us any 2 from Chambers, Kaebi, Newton and eventually Gradel for the right hand side. Mattock and Morfaw for LB and Hayes and Porter LM.

Aaaah right, i'd read he was a right midfielder. That's fair enough then. Stearman's days could be numbered!!!

I don't think it is weird, I have never seen Gradel play but surely before he is thrust into MA's first team plans a loan spell to a lower league team would be useful, just like Logan and Boston. So that would leave Newton, Kaabi and Chambers which is fine in my book, we need healthy competition. I think this will be a reasonably good signing after what I saw of his play and attitude towards the end of last season.

Im pretty sure Kaabi's best position is an attacking right back, a bit like Roberto Carlos at left back. Im not too pleased about Newton coming though, hopefully he is just here as a back up right mid and another first choice is signed soon

i think given a good pre season with mad dog not many will be able to claim lack of fitness as their reason for not performing all the time
