DanTheFoxBhoy Posted 20 July 2007 Posted 20 July 2007 Clarsh. This has been a very exciting few weeks - just think where we'd be without MM... Signing frees from League Two
Daggers Posted 20 July 2007 Posted 20 July 2007 How long before the inevitable "Songs for DJ Campbell" thread is started by FOX in a BOX a member. I'm not reading past this post - they'll all be bollocks after this. Top marks Ched
Babylon Posted 20 July 2007 Posted 20 July 2007 He played for a promoted team thats why he's scored so many goals he got the oppurtunties, Varney didn't, and Sharp has next to no record in this leagueIt's the going rate for a good striker, yet we seem to of payed it for a distinctly average one. I tell you what I'll shut up, but if he's shit and Fryatt starts cracking them in at Preston I will be absloutley unbearable, and I mean unbearable, and your getting most of it, Masterfox a close second. Exactly so you don't know they are better. No body knows what will happen, you just drone on like you know all the answers and it's a forgone conclusion he will be shit.
dandannieldanok Posted 20 July 2007 Posted 20 July 2007 Maybe a little, but just have my slight concerns that we’re maybe lacking two, possibly three players. I’m not complaining though. I agree, I don't think we have a complete squad yet and two or 3 more players would be great, but I think we'll be ok at right-back with what we already have.
sdb Posted 20 July 2007 Posted 20 July 2007 only need a left sided player now imo, i suppose all areas can always be strengthened but it's the only area i feel we're a bit short - certainly on expenience and proven ability

Burnsy Posted 20 July 2007 Posted 20 July 2007 It's just good to see that we are beating off any competition from other clubs. Good luck DJ and welcome

Cheese Me Posted 20 July 2007 Posted 20 July 2007 only need a left sided player now imo, i suppose all areas can always be strengthened but it's the only area i feel we're a bit short - certainly on expenience and proven ability Still need to sign a good striker

Fryatt has never 'cracked in' a goal from what I've seen. You have nothing to worry about Manwell. Campbell will do the business for us, and you'll see Fryatt bench warming at Preston until he's playing for Bournemouth in League 2 the season after next.
Flynny Posted 20 July 2007 Author Posted 20 July 2007 Good for those tough away days but at home we need to be a little more forthright than just DJ up front. Don't start him, he'll post a lineup of 13 if you chide him like that.
kidder_wolf Posted 20 July 2007 Posted 20 July 2007 Seems alot of money considering we paid £1.5m for Eastwood, £600k for Keogh and £1m for Elliott. But if you compare this signing with the £5m you paid for Akinbuyi i guess its a good peice of business. If Cort can stay fit i can see a partnership of Cort and Campbell getting you a play off spot though thats a big IF
Babylon Posted 20 July 2007 Posted 20 July 2007 from a brum fan "Good luck Dj from everyone at Birmingham. He never, ever let us down and scored some vital goals last season. He'll always get a good welcome back to St Andrews and will score loads for you. A bargain at £2.1M, he'll be worth £6M this time next year..."

What about the fact we could have paid Fowler's wages for 2 years for that money (and we've still got to pay DJ's on top of the fee)
Toby or not Toby Posted 20 July 2007 Posted 20 July 2007 from a brum fan"Good luck Dj from everyone at Birmingham. He never, ever let us down and scored some vital goals last season. Manwell Pablo Posted 20 July 2007 Posted 20 July 2007 Exactly so you don't know they are better. No body knows what will happen, you just drone on like you know all the answers and it's a forgone conclusion he will be shit. I'd of preffered them as unlike you what seems like 99.9% of the other people on this board I actually watch football and have some sort of opinion on all the players mentioned and Im not going off something as black and white as goal scoreing records! He might not be shit but I am very sure he wont score 17-18 goals which is what I'd expect from a 2.1 million striker. I'm not saying his terrible he's better than some of the over priced guff we could of signed I just don't like the grass is always greener, he costs lots of money get him attitude that has got everyone jumping up and down. Also after one single bad year the people who were arse licking Matty Fryatt and calling him the next Gary Linekar are now saying he'll be playing for Bournemouth in League 2. Although the fact that the person in question thinks Bournmouth are in League Two sort of sums up his general football knowledge as a whole.
Joe. Posted 20 July 2007 Posted 20 July 2007 What about compared with the 1/2 a million or so for Hume? What about the fact we could have paid Fowler's wages for 2 years for that money (and we've still got to pay DJ's on top of the fee) Hume was a League One player at Tranmere. Campbell was a player who scored a good amount of goals for the amount of games he started at a promoted Championship club. And how do you know what Folwer's wages are? How do you know we couldn't still pay them now?

Plus that person has actually seen DJ play unlike everyone on here.
Master Fox Posted 20 July 2007 Posted 20 July 2007 Hope the worth £6 million is right Shove that up your Fatty Matty lovers
Daggers Posted 20 July 2007 Posted 20 July 2007 A bargain at £2.1M, he'll be worth £6M this time next year..." That more a comment about rampant inflation under Gordon Brown than a glowing reference for Dudley-boy
Ric Flair Posted 20 July 2007 Posted 20 July 2007 Oh yeah, just a bit excited about Dudley joining. By the look of your username it doesn't surprise me. You get excited about mediocre dinners, so you're likely to be excited by a mediocre footballer as well.
kidder_wolf Posted 20 July 2007 Posted 20 July 2007 What about compared with the 1/2 a million or so for Hume? What about the fact we could have paid Fowler's wages for 2 years for that money (and we've still got to pay DJ's on top of the fee) I always thought Hume was more of a goal scoring midfielder. the players i listed was just to show the going rate for a championship forward. i think fowler would have been a poor signing for you guys. you have already placed alot of money on players wages this season over transfer fees. you need a player like DJ who you could make a few quid on if things go pair shaped.
Manwell Pablo Posted 20 July 2007 Posted 20 July 2007 Plus that person has actually seen DJ play unlike everyone on here. Yea, I've never seen DJ Campbell play, your totally right .
dave the caveman Posted 20 July 2007 Posted 20 July 2007 Leicester City? Spending 2 MILLION POUNDS, on ONE PLAYER??!!??!?!? My my, how times have changed. My initial reaction was that we've spent a fair bit too much on this guy, but I have to admit, i've never really seen him play nor paid any attention to his career. The Brum fans comments sound promising, as does the 12 goals in 20 starts stat. But still, 2 million, on one player? Leicester City?
