I am always optimistic at the start of the season then when we get battered in the first game of the season it goes out the window. I am quietly confident this season it will last a bit longer.

If you analyse teh signings individually, you may be a bit more positive. From the Birmingham buys, Clem was captain, Fans Player of the year and Players player of the year. At 29 he wanted teh guarantee of first team football.. N`Gotty was offered a new deal but wanted a two year contract hence leaving. DJ scored a goal every two games in the games he featured last season and clubs like Watford wanting him. Chambers was offered BETTER terms than he was on to stay at Watford but he wanted a move. According to Leeds fans forum, Kishishev is Prem class and they loved him there as he was the shining light in a season of shite (fook me that rhymes, get it into a terrace chant lol). Kaebi, one who we havent seen yet is highly rated and the little youtube glimpses tell us that he could be a little special. Hayes is young and raw but looks lively, Newton was the best of last seasons loanees and if he gets a run of games could be anything.

Since this time last season we have got rid of so much cack and dead wood like COG, Low, and Johnson and others like Nils and Tiatto who didnt want to hand about have gone and 5 other players who are generally classed as average to poor by most of us have been highlighted by the management as surplus and are on the transfer list.

What more do you want fella??!! I dont think we will win the league and I dont think all will be rosey as there will be bad times but things are looking good enough for me to think that we have players who could help us have a good season and I am optimistic at the least!

Come on and join the optimism bus as its alright here lol

I'll have a ticket for that bus.

I work with Geordies and Mackems and the last couple of years have been especially hard on Mondays but I am very positive for this coming season. I believe that the signings so far are excellent considering overall finances and budget.

Definately top ten finish with a flirt with success.

I genuinly feel very optimistic about the forthcoming season! we appear to have a good, motivator as manager, positive, solid signings, and personally i am looking forward to it. What are you views and assumptions of next season?

i think that weve signed enough people now to challenge for the play-offs but they will have to perform well and be more consistent...

I think we'll get a play off position.

So do I

I am getting on the optimism bus with the other 75% of voters.

You other 25% can laugh at us when we're wrong.

Don't hold your breath. It's a long season.

It would be nice if we got to Wembley and won

The good days are coming back.

Don't think my heart could stand another Wembley epic..

But Hell, YEAH!

In my eyes i can see us getting a play off position. But if we dont go up this season i'm sure we will next season.

I am cauciously optimistic about the coming season. I think we have good squad but we are still 3 or 4 players short. I would definatly like to see us sign another centre back, as I feel we really don't have enough pace at the back. Assuming Mattock will play left midfield I would like to see us bring in a left back also, Not sure if we need Mcleod really might be abit of a waste of resources that could be better spent improving other areas. If we sign another centre back atleast, then my optimism will shift from cauciously optimistic to a fairly optimistic on the "optimistic scale of optimism"

..... speaking of optomistic....anyone listen to the foxpodder podcast? Just an observation --- The gentleman (Glenn Stewart?) who last year sounded like his world was coming to an end whenever he was interviewed .... he's a bit more chipper isn't he? Any personel changes expected on radio commentary this year?....wow....I really can't spell....

That's ok, we understand.

You're American. How can you be expected to spell properly if you are taught to spell it wrong

Foxpodder did become too depressing to listen too. I must re-subscribe to it now.

Don't think my heart could stand another Wembley epic..

But Hell, YEAH!

Just the thought of those four play off Wembley finals sends my heart thudding. The pride driving down the motorway with 35,000 foxes. The curve of blue around our half of Wembley. The nervous anticipation. The relentless repetition of Ei-Ei-Ei-Ei-O. The hysteria as the teams emerge from the tunnel.

And that's before the game has even started.

And finally, the noise levels when we pegged Swindon back to 3-3 back in 1993. That was the most intense moment of my 35 years of City addiction.

Wouldn't mind a bit of that towards the end of May next year

:crylaugh: Look what everyone thought. Its kind of sad.

Two weeks before this thread, Barton Fox created one where the majority of us responding were are lot more circumspect about our chances this season - that said, I don't remember anyone predicting relegation. I can remember perfectly my feelings this time last year and (again) I feel cheated.

I really hope we hit the ground running this time around because I fear for a really angry backlash if we don't.

Isn't this about last season :dunno:

But we could just carry it on from next season instead of wasting space on this forum :dunno:

The poll is a bit tainted though :dunno:
