Phube Posted 8 August 2007 Posted 8 August 2007 Because I couldn't care less whether we have it or not. And also I couldn't care if Britain's top gymnasts have to train in a shed and come last... it doesn't bother me?? You?
Finnegan Posted 8 August 2007 Posted 8 August 2007 You'd be ecstatic if it was the World Cup, and the Olympics is a massive international event that, like the World Cup, extends beyond sport into the realms of bridge-building and peace. I think it's fantastic that London has a chance to represent that. ... the Tube will be a fookin' nightmare, though.

I'd be watching on TV anyway!!!

And I don't know what is stranger the view itself or the fact that you've decided to air your, at best rather pointless and unremarkable view, here.
Milky Posted 8 August 2007 Posted 8 August 2007 Sport needs as much publicity as possible in this country. We've got far to many fatty bum bums, all being treated by the tax payers money.
Mort Posted 8 August 2007 Posted 8 August 2007 I cared up until our bid beat Paris... ...after that i kinda lost interest, it's really a "London-centric" thing and so it hardly effects the rest of the country that much, suppose it'll make the games more interesting than usual, but beyond that...
Manwell Pablo Posted 8 August 2007 Posted 8 August 2007 Jesus Christ have a bit of national pride you bunch of miserable gits.
Geo V Posted 8 August 2007 Posted 8 August 2007 Anything that helps to update the infrastructure of the capital is good for me, because I live here! I'm not too sure how it helps to make the lives of all people living to the North of Watford any better but the Olympics will not only be a major sports event that we as a country can be proud of, it will regenerate the shite areas like East London and get the trains and tube system sorted out. I recently popped over to Athens from Cyprus on a recent holiday and the place has changed in a major positive way compared to how it was before the Olympics. If we get the same level of new buildings, facilities and the rest of the aforementioned stuff then it would be an event worth hosting, even if it does cost us money (I don't believe we will be better for it financially at all!)

Why should I have to suffer with a generation of fat birds with kankles, I say let them get fatter, it will make me feel better when I'm older if all the young ladies looks like king kong

Same is true for Barcelona!! But should it take the Olympics to actually make places fit to live!!??

Manwell Pablo Posted 8 August 2007 Posted 8 August 2007 Same is true for Barcelona!! But should it take the Olympics to actually make places fit to live!!?? You are so STRANGE! Does it matter? It makes it a better place! We're hosting the biggest sporting event in the world! It will make us money as well as cost us money, this can only be a good thing. Strange; meaning different to you?? And as it's a forum I thought I'd start a debate... Not at all different to me, just absloutley bizzare, how can you be against us hosting the olympics it benefits nearly everyone. Don't give that bollocks about Tax payers, if it weren't for the olympics they'd waste on something else like another big **** off dome.
dandannieldanok Posted 8 August 2007 Posted 8 August 2007 The fact that British Athletics is piss-poor doesn't help ignite my interest in London 2012 and more so Beijing 2008. Like Mort said, it is unsurprsingly focused all around the city of London rather than the country as a whole.
Brainy Posted 8 August 2007 Posted 8 August 2007 Jesus Christ have a bit of national pride you bunch of miserable gits. As long as we don't embarrase ourselves like Greece nearly did (building the stadium so late)

Like Mort said, it is unsurprsingly focused all around the city of London rather than the country as a whole. It had to be held somewhere and London kinda makes sense, doesn't it. It cannot be held throughout the country for logistical reasons.. That and the fact the 400m Final cannot be held at Wreake Valley due to a waterlogged track.

Don't give that bollocks about Tax payers, if it weren't for the olympics they'd waste on something else like another big **** off dome. It's a pretty naive view as well as bizarre. I do worry about London's capacity for handling the event, especially in terms of transport. But it is definitely a good thing for the city and, to a certain extent, the benefits and side benefits should filter through to other parts of the country. Crucially it's an investment in sport in this country which is massively overdue.

Seeing as I don't live in East London (Thank God!!) how are the Olympics going to benefit me exactly!!? And who said I was against us holding them, I just don't care!! But I do care about being made to feel like I should care, if you see my point!?? Every time there is a sporting club (be it gymnastic, synchronised swimming, shot put etc.) on the news... it's like: "We need more funding 'cause these kids will be competing in the 2012 Olympics... etc." SO WHAT!!! How is some fat kid throwing a heavy metal object further than a foreign fat kid, going enhance my life?? And don't get me started on the Dome!!!!

If we didn't waste endless paper printing Harry Potter books it wouldn't bother me, in factwe'd have more trees in the world, and that would actually benefit me! Do you see me starting threads entitled "Harry Potters 59th book, do we actually care" Amazing that one minute you hate something for stopping the developing British sport (Arsenal) and then in a different arguement, you then claim to not care about the development of British sport.
Raj Posted 8 August 2007 Posted 8 August 2007 I was going to air my opinions...but me is too scared now....its all kicking off....i'm outta here!!!!!!
Dr The Singh Posted 8 August 2007 Posted 8 August 2007 Although I like the Idea of the Olympics happening in the UK, but the costs outways the benefits, especially if your not living in the east end of london!!!!!

It's all right Harry's now finished... for now (and it was printed on sustainable paper!!) And you're within your rights to start a "Harry Potters 59th book, do we actually care" thread and you'd get a difference of opinion in it too! I think they're called discussions!! I don't like Arsenal, not cause of the non-development of British Sport, I don't like them because they are a British team with no British players and their attitude in general. The thing I don't care about is the development of top class sport. Like the new Tennis HQ that cost £40Million, sure they may do normal sessions when the TV cameras are there, but I'd prefer tham to build 40 £1million centres across the country to benefit all. But as this is private money it's not up to me! But when a running club want's tax money to help elite runners win Golds at the Olympics I don't care about their plight!!
