The fact that the bidding committee got their financial sums so woefully wrong (there's a shock) does not bode well for London. The games will be professionally run but that will be no compensation to the taxpayer, who will get hammered (as usual) just for the kudos of having these antiquated pastimes performed on our shores. The Olympic Games should be held in Greece every four years to spare the ordinary people of the world having to go through this charade time and again.

Amen to that. :appl:

In fact, get Brian Blessed to read it, set it to music, and play it as the opening theme to the BBC's coverage (again, paid for by you-know-who).

Antiquated pastimes sums it up perfectly. Who gives a rat's ass?

Lets just give it to Paris then, I'm sure they wouldn't moan about it.

And thats saying something, Becuase Parisans are absloutley F-ing MISERABLE! Not as miserable as you lot evidently.

Let them have it, Manwell. They like pushbike racing with drugs and some of the Olympic events would suit them down to the ground.

I was offered tickets in advance of general sale and declined.

I'm not at all fussed about this. 10 years ago I'd have loved it but now I jjust don'tfind it that exciting.

I'd be suprised if you didn't get those to be honest. I haven't heard too many sucess stories, which to me soundss like this could be a slow burner.

Pleased we've got a major sporting event. Not so pleased you could only get tickets via visa card.

In my opinion it's a very positive thing that we are hosting the Olympics.

Not only should it inspire a generation and give them some focus, but it also brings the spotlight on our Country in a very positive way, and that can only help with tourism and our wider perception in the world.

In addition it breathes regeneration into a run down area of London, so it wont be a white elephant after the games are over.

I'd like to add personally I wouldn't let those wet spam pikeys within a mile of the place after the games are over.

I was 14 when Sydney had the olympics but it was a pretty good thing for the country you get caught up in the buzz and hype of it all, still got nothing on the WC tho.

Obviously I'm not bothred because I'm not into any other sport apart from football. But it works the other way around as well, people who don't like football don't often care about the World Cup.

I think there will most probably be a terrorist attack again.

Nah, don't give a rats arse for this. It just reminds me of being at school watching loads of people playing crap games like rounders, but on steroids.

I do like the football, boxing, weight lifting and the 100m and 200m, but I don't go mental or oat like my uncle, the freak. Used to also have a few bets but that's as far as my interest goes.

Looking back now on winning the Olympics, I can see this is a very good thing. In particular it meant that when the construction industry was otherwise in the shit, the Government didn't feel obliged to launch a completely pointless and expensive project like the dome to prop it up...

Olympics are awesome, when they were in Beijing I loved getting up at 7am and watching some obscure sport before I headed off for school.

The Olympic torch will pass through Leicester next year... bets on that numpty Birch getting his grubby hands on it.

And you'd begrudge that because..?
