Accrington 0-1 Leicester - Post Match Reaction

"We still need some natural wingers though sounds like we still have no width"

No width, no goalscorer!

Sound horribly familiar to me.

Two poor performances, we need to pull things together now but it's hard to see how as this was close to our best team, can only hope they are still getting to know each other.

Will get to the game on saturday, so should really be able to see what is going on!

ive been bangin on about width for ages allen must have recognised that we have no proper quality wide players cos sheehan was the only remotely wide player on the pitch tonight so i hope he addresses this in the transfer market & not by playing players out of position like he has so far

Was he really playing weso out on the wing on saturday? I thought he was going for something like a 3 - 5 - 2 but didnt ctch the team lineup to hear it.

aint sure i was there i just remember the wide players being out of position dj campbell was right mid in the second half & weso or kishishev left i think :dunno: a tad confusing

The win will add confidence to the side, and the goals will come from who we have got give them time, it takes a while for a team to bond and a striker to learn his midfields way of play, give it a few games and then we will get started on setting the championship a light let them gel. we started off quite aslowly last time we got promoted so its not all bad.

Well done against the mighty Accrington Stanley!!

Starting to sound like a 5-3-2/3-5-2 wingback system might be a good idea.

yea i would be happy with that but we still will need to buy the left & right sided players cos only kaabi looks like he could play wingback to a high standard so far & we aint seen him play yet

I'm sure Stearman could manage it, though he wouldn't be my first choice. If Chambers is back any time soon he'd be very good in that position. Sheehan and Mattock both seem to have the attacking instinct to make a good go of wingback, too.

I'm not saying I'd love to play this system, just that it's starting to seem a good choice with the players we have availible.

I'm starting to fear that we could fall flat on our arse. I know its early days but the spirited performances we hoped for dont seem to be materialising. I'm hoping something clicks for the game on saturday but i wont hold my breath.

yeah they could play there but wingbacks are a specialist position & are responsible for most of the play down the flanks & i don't see those players doing that to a championship challenging level if you follow lol

Glad to hear sheehan started, he is looking like an interesting prospect. Also good for weso to get a goal under his belt.

Still three strikers, hume (proven goalscorer), fryatt (good when on form), and campbell (2 million man) not scoring does not bode well for the palace game.

Oh and while i'm here, i feel i will have a little rant at sky sports news. When talking about the accrington game, the reporter claimed 'things have gone badly for leicester on and off the pitch at the start of this season'.

Excuse me but how does losing hasselbaink constitute things going 'badly' off the pitch? And our performance (whilst slightly below par) was hardly dire on saturday.

hmmph my gratitude for their up-to-date city news is waning...

tut tut. did the performance seem better through beer goggles?

lol neh not really i just remember an awesome turn & shot smashing the bar from 25 yards by de vries which i can't find any highlights of :dunno: the rest was pretty crap :)

So far all of our opinions are based on John Barbers commentary. I think we should reserve judgement of tonights performance until we have a couple of match reports and raitings from people who have been to the game!

I was just thinking that EXACT thing. Barber does tend to be a little dramatic in his presentation. Looking forward to seeing what people at the game have to say.

All in all - glad with the win - should boost confidence a bit. But sounded like Henderson had to make a few too many good saves - then again, it could have been Barber exagerating the play.
