Dr The Singh Posted 23 August 2007 Posted 23 August 2007 W'ell soon see who will be having the last laugh, hey Barton!!!
Ric Flair Posted 23 August 2007 Posted 23 August 2007 Fair play to the other Home Nations, they're doing their countries proud. Unlike our shower. Would you see those other nations wasting the talent that we have? I don't think so. They squeeze every inch of ability out of their players and are aware of their limitations and make use of what they're good at. Where as us, think we're brilliant. Strut about the pitch flattering to deceive and miss open goals, one on one's and gift opposition goals. It's digusting and this is the worst England era since Graham Taylor. We haven't beaten a respectable Nation in a friendly for a long, long time. Germany had their reserves out FFS!!! Dreadful.
Simi Posted 23 August 2007 Posted 23 August 2007 I guess we'll just be doing what you lot have been doing for the past few years.
Stevosevic Posted 23 August 2007 Posted 23 August 2007 We'll be there, one of the smaller home nations are bound to f**k it up.

Daggers Posted 23 August 2007 Posted 23 August 2007 I'm saying nothing. I am. "When you here the noise of the, Tartan Army/Welsh/Northen Irish boys" *ahem* Hear. Northern.
lildave3 Posted 23 August 2007 Posted 23 August 2007 I'm pleased for all the other home nations, always good to see them do well really. But you have got to be kidding me if you believe any of them will qualify, let alone all of them.
Vacamion Posted 23 August 2007 Posted 23 August 2007 Let's not kid ourselves. Though we will generally wish the other home nations well, they, generally, will root for whoever we are playing against. I tuned to BBC Scotland to see if they were carrying the England game last night. They were. Before a ball has been kicked, John Motson is going on about 1966. Having that rammed down their throats only makes them enjoy our failures more.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 23 August 2007 Posted 23 August 2007 I genuinely believe England have the best chance of qualifying. I'm not an England obsessive by any means so I'm not really biased or anything (I'd prefer Wales to qualify given half a chance) but looking at the group tables and the fixtures left with the respective squads, I'd have to fancy England to have the best chance of the lot. Having said that, I think there's a strong possibility none of them will qualify.

Finnegan Posted 23 August 2007 Posted 23 August 2007 I don't really see how the Welsh can brag - Load of toss tables, blah blah, we're about bottom, yeah. Some other table where England are about middle vs Israel whatever I rarely, rarely rise to the bait on Welsh football. And if I do, I usually spend about seven hundred words telling you all how good Koumas and Earnshaw are and how you don't rate them highly enough and how I'd fooking orgasm if they ever signed for City. But seriously. How dare you? How ignorant do you have to be on a footballing front to think you've more right to be proud of your national team than us. You've a selection of some of the best players in the world. Sure some of them might be a bit overrated, but we'd take Owen (Welsh, Welsh, Welsh), Rooney, Crouchy, Bent, Lamps, Gerrard, Hargreaves (Welsh, and he knows it), Campbell, Ferdinand, Cole, Cole, Neville, Beckham (probably), Carrick and about half the rest of the squad any fooking day and shaft them straight into our starting line up. Quality, QUALITY players. And what do you do with them? fook all. The last world cup, England were an embarrassment to quality football. And don't give me that "Sven's record was ACTUALLY quite good..." crap. Stick some bastard like Keaneo in charge of your squad and then we'll see an England side motivated. He'd have the WAGs shipped off to Timbuktu and your boys breaking a real sweat, no doubt. Are you not ASHAMED!? Half of you find watching England to be a painful fooking experience, most of you know it's going to be boring and would rather do a ffuter and put up your shelves. And what do we put out against Bulgaria? Our best player, our "star", our "saviour" was a a twenty year old goalkeeper that played his league football in L2 with Stockport County. I don't brag about the quality of our team, I don't brag about how well we're doing, because realistically we're not and we aren't. I CRAVE for some world class talent. But I'm fooking PROUD of the effort and the work that goes into it, I'm PROUD that the likes of Hennessey and Bale turn up and bleed in Friendlies for a side that can't even beat Slovakia at home. When you can boast the same, then come back and tell me Welsh football has nothing to brag about. And you best be ready to wipe that egg off your face if you don't even get to '08.

MASSIVE PEDANTRY ALERT: Hennessey's back at Wolves now and in the first team cos Murray is injured. But that's one of the best posts I've ever read on Foxestalk and sums up the state of football (and a large number of fans) these days. Edit: you've edited it. Fair play.
Finnegan Posted 23 August 2007 Posted 23 August 2007 I did mean "played", I'm always typing the wrong words. The bulk of his footballing experience was on loan at County, though.

Didn't expect my post to spark much of a reaction but i agree with almost everything you have said, i was responding purely to the original post about Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland competing in South Africa, but England not being there. I'm not proud of my England team, they are a group of over paid, over rated players. Wales are achieving more than us in relative terms and of course you have every right to be proud of that, but in terms of qualifying for World Cup 2010, it's too hard to predict. Didn't mean to cause offence, i possibly should have explained my original point better, but is was only a response to Barton Fox stating England would not be in World Cup 2010. At this point i would say England have the best chance of the home nations, but the manner in which we get there and perform in the finals, i'm sure will not be something to be proud of.
Finnegan Posted 23 August 2007 Posted 23 August 2007 Dunno, as much as I STILL dislike John Toshack, if he keeps this team together for another two or three years then I think it'll form a very interesting prospect.
