Simon Posted 2 October 2007 Posted 2 October 2007 I nearly had a scrap on Saturday. I asked them WTF was the point in booing. Never have done-never will. Exactly the same. Thought it was disgusting. Maybe after a run of really bad results with bad performances I could see people justify it, although I never would myself. But after ONE half? Really. What do you think that says to the lads coming out for the second half? I was disgusted.

What do you think that says to the lads coming out for the second half?I was disgusted. Do you not think some of it was directed towards Megson and the team selection? Personally I think the booing went some small way at least towards motivating the players on Saturday for the second half. You driving up tonight?

It seemed to me that the lads in the second half were bang up for it cos we scored practually from the kick off ! If you're content to watch what was an awful performance even after watching the shyte we've put up with the past 4 seasons then you're easily pleased.... we're meant to be moving forward and at the moment we aren't. Where's that Groundhog day post gone ?
Kent Fox Posted 2 October 2007 Posted 2 October 2007 You should never boo the team off. And don't not clap. I'd like to see ALL of our fans simply turn their backs on them and ignore them. In total silence. It won't prove anything but it would be funny..

Knighton Matt (he used to be famous on here y'know, like a slightly inferior version of TPH or myself) bangs on about this idea at every home game!

I'm sure I seen this on the TV not so long ago, not sure who's fans done it, but I thought it was a really good way to show you're disappointed with what you're seeing.
mancunianfox Posted 2 October 2007 Posted 2 October 2007 After the first half on Saturday they did deserve it and I don't blam anyone for booing the team off, especially given the cost of match tickets. The first half against Stoke was abysmal and one of the worst performances I've ever seen by a City team. I couldn't think of one positive at half time, and that was against a Stoke side who were just as bad as we were.
C-man Posted 2 October 2007 Posted 2 October 2007 I wouldn't dream of booing the team off. Or the manager. Or any player individually. I've never booed them off - I don't think its right to.
Kent Fox Posted 2 October 2007 Posted 2 October 2007 Knighton Matt (he used to be famous on here y'know, like a slightly inferior version of TPH or myself) bangs on about this idea at every home game! He clearly had a good sense of humour then. Where is he now? I'm sure I seen this on the TV not so long ago, not sure who's fans done it, but I thought it was a really good way to show you're disappointed with what you're seeing. I'd love to see it. It would get the point across very strongly and then there is no need to boo.
Mickey O'Neil Posted 2 October 2007 Posted 2 October 2007 Exactly the same. Thought it was disgusting. Maybe after a run of really bad results with bad performances I could see people justify it, although I never would myself. But after ONE half? Really. What do you think that says to the lads coming out for the second half?I was disgusted. Agree. If that was me on the pitch, i'd be too scared to have the ball just in case the fans got onto my back (probably increasing the chances of me making a bad pass or mistake!!) I can understand people being pissed off at spending good money, but booing doesn't solve anything. The players, manager and chairman know who's performing and who's not. The Charlton players got a bollocking at half time from Pardew when we played them, and they were 2 up! I get a knot in my stomach when a team scores against us and I'm in a vile mood for 4 or 5 days after we lose so nobody can tell me I can't be affected because I won't/don't boo. Now you've got me started on the Charlton game. I know it's easy to say when you're winning, but I can't remember going to a game where the WHOLE ground got behind THEIR team. It really was a sight to behold. Hardly anyone left before the end of the game and as for the polite round of applause given to Kish by all of the Charlton faithful, well I hope the Lennon boo-boys feel proud of themselves. I'd have been proud to be a Charlton fan that day. I'm not saying that tosspot wanking chickenshit Dennis W!se deserves our support, but some players do. I thought Dickov was a good servant for our club, yet people chose to boo him when we played Blackburn (and he scored the penno!)

Like, when they're pissed off with the lack of effort the team is putting in or digusted by the performance they all just turn around and look at the back of the stand without saying a single word? It'd be a waste of money, but like, I'd love to see what the reaction would be if we ever did anything like that.
Nath Posted 2 October 2007 Posted 2 October 2007 I'll start it... no doubt today... REALLY i just want to get on soccer am... Third eyes. looking at the back of stadium for 90 mins. celebrity status here i come

Daggers Posted 2 October 2007 Posted 2 October 2007 Personally I think the booing went some small way at least towards motivating the players on Saturday for the second half. I don't reckon. That would only be the case if the squad gave a flying **** what we think...and they don't. You reckon they played better simply because they were worried they might be in for a bit of a booing in the second half? Nah,
hebangsthedrums Posted 2 October 2007 Posted 2 October 2007 I don't think booing helps, but on Saturday I can understand why it happened. I wouldn't however tell people not to boo as I'm firmly of the opinion that people pay their money and can express their unhappiness if they want. As long as their not barracking youngsters, doing anything racist or thuggish I don't care.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 2 October 2007 Posted 2 October 2007 You sure people weren't saying "Boo urrns?"
Blue Bob Posted 2 October 2007 Posted 2 October 2007 I see there is nothing wrong in giving the team feedback as and when it is deserved. When the team play well or score we cheer - feedback. When the team plays really really badly you have the right the boo - feedback as well. Are the players that fragile? Remember a lot of these players are paid more a year than the Prime Minister and look how much abuse he gets from all sides. I do believe that you need to tell the players and the managers to up there performance and on saturday it was justified and to be fair it worked!! I dont think it makes you any less of a fan if you do boo.
Bedford Fox Posted 2 October 2007 Posted 2 October 2007 You don't boo the team you love FULL STOP. players know when they have had a stinker they don't need us to tell them they need our support.
Lord Nibblington Posted 2 October 2007 Posted 2 October 2007 Shocking. How can they boo. Do they not know how many attacking throw ins we had?
AyewJoking Posted 2 October 2007 Posted 2 October 2007 Its not as if we win most of the time then boo as soon as we get a bad result. We have been shit for years and I've lost all patience with them. Does it motivate Stearman when people hurl abuse at him and tell him he shouldnt be in the team? Does it motivate Cort when someone calls him a nonse and tells him to sod off back to Wolves? Its a mans game and these people are earning fantastic money so they should take all the abuse, justified or not, on the chin and get on with it.
Simi Posted 2 October 2007 Posted 2 October 2007 Shocking. How can they boo.Do they not know how many attacking throw ins we had? These "attacking throw ins" can fook right off. Not one of them works. Always aimed at Fryatt. For Fook Sake..Why?!
