demon_dog Posted 2 October 2007 Posted 2 October 2007 Ok. I know we all get p***ed off when we see the team playing absolute crap. But is it wise to boo them off? Ok. It sends a message out that we are not happy with the performance. But does it not dishearten the players, especially the ones that are playing well and trying. Sometimes it is down to the manager with his team selection, others it is simply the players not performing. This is up to the manager to sort out. I do believe that booing can knock the players confidence. I for one will not boo the team off, despite my feelings. Do you think that making a point by booing makes any difference?
Fez of Mahrez Posted 2 October 2007 Posted 2 October 2007 This sounds as if you're thinking of doing it tonight regardless of the performance.
mancunianfox Posted 2 October 2007 Posted 2 October 2007 Well it didn't exactly do any harm on Saturday did it?
Thracian Posted 2 October 2007 Posted 2 October 2007 I wouldn't dream of booing the team off. Or the manager. Or any player individually.
Vacamion Posted 2 October 2007 Posted 2 October 2007 Surely we should boo opponents and refs. For the rare occasions ( ) that our team's performance doesn't delight and entertain us, a surly silence will get the message across.
l444ry Posted 2 October 2007 Posted 2 October 2007 The only time booing can be justified is if the team are not putting in 100%, which is nigh on impossible to determine. I'm sure the players don't perform like pillocks on purpose so I can't see what the point of it is. Booing is a stupid knee-jerk reaction.
Joe. Posted 2 October 2007 Posted 2 October 2007 I hate to see the fans booing the players off, it's never going to do any good. I won't clap if they've been shit, but I definitely won't boo.
Mikey Posted 2 October 2007 Posted 2 October 2007 I don't think there is much point in booing. Just don't clap, then boo and jeer the opposition and ref.
Flynny Posted 2 October 2007 Posted 2 October 2007 The booing and chants of "what a load" of rubbish were a bit off on Saturday, but it was one of the single worst, most static halves we've had in years. So long as people don't do it willy-nilly, it can't do THAT much harm now and then.
Ric Flair Posted 2 October 2007 Posted 2 October 2007 I booed on Saturday, but I was already queing up for a beer as i'd left my seat on 39 minutes. I booed to myself and the craaap bar staff. I vowed not to return for the second half it was that bad on Saturday. I did do though and I was rewarded with a decent second half performance. If it's as bad tonight, I should be home in time for the 2nd part of Murphy's Law, all being well.
demon_dog Posted 2 October 2007 Author Posted 2 October 2007 This sounds as if you're thinking of doing it tonight regardless of the performance. Read my post. I never boo them off. Just rant and rave when I get in the pub.
davieG Posted 2 October 2007 Posted 2 October 2007 Judging by the reaction to the first half team selection on Saturday and the 5-2-3 formation I'm surprised they didn't get booed as they came out!

Ric Flair Posted 2 October 2007 Posted 2 October 2007 Murphys Law A pint of it isn't bad either. Agreed on both counts.
Master Fox Posted 2 October 2007 Posted 2 October 2007 Absolutely no question whatsoever that we should boo them! Everyone should attempt to boo them greater than they’ve ever booed before.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 2 October 2007 Posted 2 October 2007 Read my post.I never boo them off. Just rant and rave when I get in the pub. Sorry I didn't really read it, just the thread title made me laugh with a home game three hours or so away. I agree with you though.

Kilworthfox Posted 2 October 2007 Posted 2 October 2007 If these privilaged men in our blue shirts don't play with the passion to try their best then I will boo and I believe that IS very acceptable. I wonder what my boss would do if i came in half hearted every day? Hmmm he'd sack me

samlcfc1 Posted 2 October 2007 Posted 2 October 2007 only if they really deserve it, and sometimes i just think ive paid money to watch, and there on thousands of pounds a week they could just try a bit harder

Hmmm he'd sack me I dno about that, Manwell and others bosses don't seem to mind them not fully concentrating on the job in hand, how much time they spend on here
Mickey O'Neil Posted 2 October 2007 Posted 2 October 2007 I nearly had a scrap on Saturday. I asked them WTF was the point in booing. Never have done-never will.
Master Fox Posted 2 October 2007 Posted 2 October 2007 I nearly had a scrap on Saturday. I asked them WTF was the point in booing. Never have done-never will. I would like to Boooooo the above post Boo!

The booing on Saturday was totally justifiable at half time, it didn't seem to affect the players coming out for the second half, they should know when we're not happy, we do actually contribute towards their wages so if i'm p1ssed off with what I'm seeing I'll boo hoo like a baby !
