James. Posted 6 October 2007 Posted 6 October 2007 I'm thankful for 3 points given our position beforehand, and I'd cheer up if it didn't mean more depressing football, this is just going to encourage our dour manager to play this way even more over the next 2 weeks. But everyone else do enjoy it I imagine you're an absolute joy to be with when we lose... Seriously though it's not like dour football is anything new to Leicester City is it. That doesn't mean I accept it just that I'm used to it and if it gets us 3 points then I'm happy. And another clean sheet to add to our encouraging, impressive defensive record. Reasons to smile for once. Not moan.

Milky Posted 6 October 2007 Posted 6 October 2007 18th place 4 points off the play-offs 3 points off relegation With a game in hand over many teams. Still early days.
Thracian Posted 6 October 2007 Posted 6 October 2007 Mark it sounded like we had loads of chances and should have won by 5 so it cant be that bad surely?!! With any other goalkeper 5-2 might have been realistic - but, whatever, it was reason for celebratiion and optimism. Not just a two goal win away from home but another defensive clean sheet. So well done the back five, cos you wouldn't want to forget Fulop.

Lillehamring Posted 6 October 2007 Posted 6 October 2007 fulop is great, but today it sounded like he just did his job, sounds like for the first time we had 11 winners on the field...

I didn't feel alot when we beat the Villa, or lost to Charlton, and it's the same today and being honest I absolutely hate it cause I love LCFC. I'm just a fan of football JTB, and through my entire life I have a huge hatred for those people in football that spoil it for the neutral. Megson is one of those and I hate him as our manager. But, I hope it'll pass and things get better. Shame Fulop's price tag is increasing by the week.

Lord Nibblington Posted 6 October 2007 Posted 6 October 2007 I'm pleased with the 3 points, but I'm wary about going overboard in celebration. Wednesday sounded shocking today.

But we never really played great football in this division, even under MON. We only started to play a bit when we got to the Premiership and added a few more quality players but in the Championship, we have never from my memory as a 35yo ever been one of the better footballing sides of the division and have toiled with some very mediocre football. I know we played some better stuff in the 70s but that was before my time.
Milky Posted 6 October 2007 Posted 6 October 2007 Game stats. Those stats seem to flatter Sheff Wed. They sounded dog shite.
Ozwin Posted 6 October 2007 Posted 6 October 2007 We HAVE to buy Fulop, seriously. Get it sorted, ask for priority, because we'd be ****ING done for if we hadn't loaned him in.

AyewJoking Posted 6 October 2007 Posted 6 October 2007 Wednesday sounded poop but you have to beat these teams so job done.

To a certain extent I can relate to and agree with your attitude towards Leicester and football in general. For me though I'm clinging on to hope and an away win with a clean sheet is cause for hope. I've put up with years of depressing football and although some might argue nothing has changed I feel that under Mandaric (and whoever happens to be manager) we have our best chance since Mr O'Neill to make some long overdue progress. Today was a step in the right direction.

However, just because we've always played crappy football, shouldn't mean we should always play crappy football, surely? It would be nice to at least have some ambition of playing some good football at some point. Something which doesn't seem likely to happen soon.
Thracian Posted 6 October 2007 Posted 6 October 2007 Wednesday sounded poop but you have to beat these teams so job done. Especially as City so often have trouble with "lower" sides.

The Little years were pretty basic football, but at one stage we played some good stuff under McGhee. Funny how some clubs have a "tradition" of good football though - we certainly don't.

Something which doesn't seem likely to happen soon. I`ve been in the Leicester end down the years with the likes of MON to CL in charge and seen sides like West Ham rip us apart with great football even at this level and have been so envious, even to have playmaking players and or skillful players who can do something special but we have to live with the fact that for now, we have a manager whose emphasis is on defence and keeping 1-0 leads if we get them and an owner who doesn't necessarily advocate fancy football to get us up but by looking at things as "by any means necessary". Lets get out of this hellhole of a division first and then maybe we can look at a change of style of play. For now, the 352 away from home seems to be working and all he has to do is find a formation for home and we could well be pushing for a play-off place.

Funny how some clubs have a "tradition" of good football though - we certainly don't. We played sexy football under Little. I remember the likes of Gary Coatsworth and Lee philpot knocking it about like the brazil team of the 70's and Richard Smith and Brian Carey passing the ball out of defence.
Nath Posted 6 October 2007 Posted 6 October 2007 few points on the board now. next few games... S****horpe away Should be beating these, even though they have been on good form, lost today though. Sheff Utd home Been pretty poor this season so far, keep beattie quiet and we have a bloody good chance. Barnlsey home They have had a good start, how ever they are still a poor side. Colchester away Bad start to the season, they are there for the taking. Preston away Worse team in the league imo, SHOULD win. 5 games there where we should be capatalising on weak teams (in areas) and maybe we could push up that table. Our season starts here?
Ozwin Posted 6 October 2007 Posted 6 October 2007 Game in hand too, so it's looking good. But we all know Leicester and I don't want to burst the bubble but we know it's not going to be an easy ride, it never bloody well is. I like how we have this King fella in now, he sounds good so Clemence has a similar partner in midfield for a while (Assuming he's better than Kishishev) so hopefully this can be the start of a great season. We just need to practice in midfield, because we're not creating enough. I reckon if we start creating a few more chances and feeding the strikers what they need, confidence will rise and we'll be set for a nice little run. We're far too defensive and nobody wants to see too much of that in a team. 2 week break to start something at a great time.

Looking at Wednesday's performance (The mid-week game not Sheff Wed's - which fair enough was against perhaps one of the teams that will probably be up there at the end of the season) and some performance's so far this season there probably saying similar things about us. This is just one win, and as people have said we have never played that well in this league but still this was just one win today, and an unconvincing once by the sounds of it. I know your looking at positives and I do agree to some extent with what you've posted but take a step back and look at ourselves before you start criticizing teams and saying who is poor, and who we should be beating, e.t.c
