First driving lesson tommorow...

Recommended Posts

Right, my first driving lesson is tommorow morning (don't go outside...) and I'm not nervous, nor am I cocky about it. Just wondering if there is anything I should know desperately?

I think I understand the basics at the moment so that's probably why i'm not bricking it.

The instructor's a city fan so at least we can have some conversation

First lesson is usually just telling the instructor what everything in the car is i.e. throttle, mileage...start driving after a few weeks and gradually becomes easier. Just remember that there are a lot of learners but even so not everyone on the road will give you respect.

I had my first one a few weeks ago. If it's just an hour long most of it will be spent telling you about the checks you should do before moving off, stuff like that.

My first lesson was two hours long and I was straight on the road after fifteen minutes. Third hour I was doing 60 on a three-lane dual carriageway.

Same here. Well just about.

Might seem quite hard at first but just be gentle with the clutch & don't let your confidence if you stall it a few times :D

Any idea what car your learning in?

If the instuctor puts a paper bag over his head try to figure out why.

Get in the habit straight away of checking your mirrors frequently. (Note: not to check out how cool you're looking!) ;)

Just be confident with it and dont look into it too deeply if you screw things up a little in your first few lessons.

I can remember my first experience driving a car so vividly as I stalled it from the top of my road every 3 seconds to the hysterics of my 2 brothers and sister sat in the back whilst my dad sweated nervously sitting next to me. I can remember getting out of the car and thinking to myself that I didn't want to ever drive a manual again as it was too complicated lol

The point is it gets easier so Im sure in time you`ll have mastered it. Good Luck.

Everyone in a car loves the thrill of a surprise handbrake turn

indeed.. infact the people behind always like the idea of someones face coming at them in a car at great speed. trust me.

Thankyouu for this, I only stalled once.

Ten to two.

My guy said quarter to three, i'd always heard 10 to 2 though

It went quite well, I got into 3rd but my big problem was I didn't reaise how sensitive the pedals were which means I was either zooming off or going from 30 to 0 in half a second.

All of which you will forget 5 minutes out of the test centre
