Smudge Posted 22 October 2007 Posted 22 October 2007 Well I think he could well have the respect of the players but he certainly doesn't have the support from the fans... the next man should really have the full backing of the board, players AND fans and that will then galvanise the team forward and upwards. As it is... there is a massive lack of support for Megson and its quite possibly having an effect on the teams morale... At the time of writing this 42 votes have been cast and 30 want him to stay at least for a while.
FilboFox Posted 22 October 2007 Posted 22 October 2007 At the time of writing this 42 votes have been cast and 30 want him to stay at least for a while. Yet 18 want him to only stay for a little while and 14 want him to go. Hardly resounding confidence in a manager that we should want to stay for as long as possible...
maddog Posted 22 October 2007 Author Posted 22 October 2007 How is any striker expected to score with the shite service ours receive? We don't have bad forwards they just do not get what they need to score goals often enough.Until the midfield is sorted out, our goalscoring problem won't improve. Then we need a striker who can create chances for himself and not rely on service from the midfield. We may have to pay out a good few millions for a striker like that though.
Simi Posted 22 October 2007 Posted 22 October 2007 Then we need a striker who can create chances for himself and not rely on service from the midfield. Where are we going to be able to pick one of these bad boys then?
Ric Flair Posted 22 October 2007 Posted 22 October 2007 Hit the woodwork twice before those goals in the second half We did more attacking in that game than every game put together since. Oh yes, I forgot about those two efforts. But even so, I don't think it was the all out champagne football that a lot of our fans seem to think it was. An all out attacking performance was our 4-2 victory over Sheffield United a few years back, which was also a false dawn. We must of had 20+ chances on target that game. But I agree that we've been turgid ever since and Megson needs to sort it out. Didn't Megson come out and say some of the younger players weren't up to it at the moment?Mattock could of been one of the casualties from that comment, although as you say he is injured at the moment. Megson has said that Mattock has been superb since he's been here but he was going to rest him against Sheff Wed as he'd ran himself in to the ground, but then he's picked up a couple of knocks and Megson wouldn't have been able to pick him anyway. Think he might be at least on the bench for tomorrow night.
maddog Posted 22 October 2007 Author Posted 22 October 2007 Where are we going to be able to pick one of these bad boys then? i don't know i hear Akinbyi has improved
ithuriel Posted 22 October 2007 Posted 22 October 2007 he has got his chance but he has to start winning matches on a regular basis and moving up the league otherwise nothing has changed from the previous lot and he will go.
Wherethefoxhat? Posted 22 October 2007 Posted 22 October 2007 Another impulse thread by maddog. Superb. We need him to stay for the good of the club. Another upheaval is going to do nobody any favours. But the sytle of football Megson is playing will not get us out of this division which is what Mandaric wants so... It did at WBA!!
Boycie Posted 22 October 2007 Posted 22 October 2007 2 clean sheets in 2 away games in a row, how many times did we do that last year? I think Megson will do a good job for us this season and we should be looking for maximum points at home to Sheff United and Barnsley. If we do get maximum points in the next few games and we at least give Chelsea a good game this will turn our season right around.
ASH17LCFC Posted 22 October 2007 Posted 22 October 2007 Worst football ever 7 defensive players on the pitch Go 1-0 down and we are fooked Get rid now and start again.

It's a big ask, Sheff Utd might not be playing well but there is still some quality in that team and Barnsley are punching well above their weight at the moment,if we manage to get 6 points obviously I'll be well pleased but I'll be surprised for sure!
Tevez Posted 22 October 2007 Posted 22 October 2007 I'm neither enjoying his spell as manager nor hating it. It's far too early to get rid of him for footballing reasons and hoping he get's poached by Bolton is ridiculous as well.I don't particularly enjoy watching negative football like i've seen in the past month or so at Leicester, but I don't like to see us dominating matches and getting nothing out of games either. I am starting to see signs of Megson's influence over our team. He's making us very, very difficult to beat. It's a risky way of going about things because if we start to ship goals then we're screwed as we'll never score many goals in this set-up. But if you can successfully get your team to be very strong at the back then you can become successful at this level. If Megson can stamp his authority with the rest of the team and get them to take the few chances we create then I can see us being dark horses for a late surge up the table after Xmas. He did this at West Brom, he strengthened their defence and then worked on getting his midfield and attack to take their chances when they come their way and they ground out results week in, week out. Not pretty, not enjoyable but there's always a sense of pride as a fan seeing your team in the top half of a table and the excitement of the chance of promotion. So as far as i'm concerned, Megson's a better bet than the uncertainty of having to find yet another manager should he go or we let him go right now. Thats how I feel, great post Ric
Dr The Singh Posted 22 October 2007 Posted 22 October 2007 Better the devil you know!!! At this moment and time city make me

Number 6 Posted 22 October 2007 Posted 22 October 2007 VC Bet report a hefty amount of cash for Gary Megson to become the next manager of Bolton and it’s forced the firm to suspend the betting. "Within the space of half an hour we had a serious run of money on Megson, and we had to take evasive action," confirmed VC spokesman Neal Wilkins. "Leicester chairman Milan Mandaric is adamant that he’ll refuse permission for Bolton to speak to Megson, but this sort of money speaks for itself."

Milans Foxes Posted 22 October 2007 Posted 22 October 2007 Good, i really hope he ****s off soon. Charming
Father Ted Posted 22 October 2007 Posted 22 October 2007 I would actually really like him to stay. He is a master tactician. He has made our defence solid. We've stopped losing games. His tactics got us good victories over Notts Forest and Villa. He took Forest down. And with him were being linked with players like Collins John. And if he goes, then who?? Paul Jewell - Wouldn't want to Peter Taylor - NO Jose Mourinho - maybe just for the Chelsea game otherwise I don't think so Martin Allen - My mind has gone blank but Big Ron and Keegan and those sort, the been and gone will never come. So all those that suggest those can dream on!
Babylon Posted 22 October 2007 Posted 22 October 2007 I'm pretty amazed by the number who want him out. I think Megson is getting treated pretty poorly by lots of fans on here and other forums. The guy has only been here for what? 5 league games and 2 in the cup his record is W: 3 D: 3 L: 1 Yes we have been poor to watch some games, but surely the guy needs more than 7 games to sort out the deep rooted problems this club has had for 4 years now!! His assessment of the team is pretty much always spot on, he knows where the problems are and he is trying to fix them. Give the man a chance to get his own men on board in the transfer window before we really start to judge him!! Anyone he gets in at the moment will only be a fraction of the quality we could buy in Jan. It took him one and a half games to work out we can't play a back four without conceeding at least one goal. Getting the team to both defend and attack in equal effectiveness is not an easy job, you need the right players and the right tactics. At the moment we just don't have the players, thanks to the balls up at the beginning of the season we ended up with far to many players in positions that were already covered, and not enough on the positions we were weak. At the moment he is choosing defensive tactics to suit the rubbish unadventurous players we have, once he gets players in who can attack and defend and that suit his systems rather than just making do i'm pretty sure we will see a difference. It's never going to be Keegan style football, but it will be winning football none the less. (maybe). It seems to me he is baring the brunt of 4 years worth of frustration!!
Simi Posted 22 October 2007 Posted 22 October 2007 I really cannot see why the majority of people have voted for 'Stay for a bit'. Where is that going to get us really?! Successful clubs have stability more than often, we need that more than anyone at the moment. Megson is proven at this level. Yes, it's not being attractive so far, but as Babylon says he's not done that badly so far. IF, we can get the wing backs to actually play up the pitch more and maybe a loan signing I think we do have what it takes to push into the top half of the table. Having Megson here "for a bit" will not help us at all. Although I will say the options are a little broad.
maddog Posted 22 October 2007 Author Posted 22 October 2007 I would like him to stay but won't mind if he goes, no where near as much as when MA went. I will hate him if he goes, he's been out of football for 1 and a half years. We give him a lifeline. kick his managerial career back on track, and he comes to a Championship club with a great stadium, a team that is just 1 good season away from the Premiership. Then Bolton come in, a team who he would have 0 chance of going to if Milan hadn't given him the Leicester job, and he may go. If he does he will be a back stabbing bastard and i will hate him.
maddog Posted 22 October 2007 Author Posted 22 October 2007 26 stay for a long time 38 go 42 stay for a bit Clearly it's pretty much 50-50 wheather we want Megson here for a long time or for any time.

Yeah we really need to give the guy more time! I don't like all those people jumping on thebandwagon and saying that he should go because we aren't scoring enough and ultimately not winning enough. Patience. After all its not like we haven't waited long enough for a manager of this quality to come along, no disrespect to MA, but megson has and will get us promoted - we just have to wait until the Jan transfer window, get rid of 10-12 players and bring in some quality signings, then challenge for the play-offs Not too much of a tall order I wouldn't have thought! Also by getting rid of megson we'll yet again break the stability that we're just begining to make cuz lets face it we really do need some stability quite badly! In both mangement and on-field.
Geo V Posted 22 October 2007 Posted 22 October 2007 Stay for a bit. Im quite happy to endure a season of poor football with workmanlike players if that guarantees us promotion. I cant stomach 532s and negative tactics that include defenders in midfield and now creative of skill players going forward so I`d be happy for GM to do his bit and then we can tak eit from there. Wishful thinking I know but we are now hard to beat and if we can manager to score a goal a game or even two that should be enough against most teams in this division under the current formation.
