Yup.

I wouldn't be that gutted if he got the job.

Second that,Souness isn't a bad manager at all.he has had a load of bad press over the years, but at least he has had a go at all sorts of teams,he's a better choice than the likes of Reidy and Dowie.

probably in the minority but i think souness would be an excellant appointment and probably the best we could hope for

Souey would be a much better bet then some of the names being banded about. Would not be at all unhappy if he got the gig...

Has won trophies at avery club he's been at other than newcastle and no one can do that there!

What did he win at Southampton?

PS we could do worse, but I don't think he's the one.

Minority plus one. ;)

If Souey came, we'd have to move to Wembley.

It's the only ground big enough to house both his ego and that of Milan Mandaric!

how anyone can accept Martin Allen and say no to Souness is a joke. Souness is definately not the worse choice we could have. Much better than Pulis, Gregory etc.

I for one would take Souness over Reid, Hoddle, Dowie etc.... he has passion and has experience of working with high-profile players, which should make managing the City squad more plain-sailing I'd have thought.

Souness should get the England job and he should play Brad Pitt in Beckhams place... wot ya think ?

He'd be better than any manager we've had here in the last 6 years.

Agreed he's a bit of an arse, but definitely has what it takes to move us to where we want to be. No doubting he'd build our team into a half decent outfit in this divison for sure. Souness is certainly no chump, and would kick a few average under performing championship players arses into gear.

I find it difficult to understand how people wouln't welcome this appointment? Dowie really isn't a better alternative is he?

People have a problem with Souness probably because they don't like him and his abrasive nature. It is this reason that underpins why so many people would rather have Walsh in charge.

Personally I am starting to come round to the idea of Dowie being manager. When he was first mentioned before Allen I was dead against it but maybe I've managed my expectations a little better following our farcical start to the season.

I'm also forcing myself to like Dowie because I really think he is going to get it.

He's just generally a bastard.

Bastard Souness. That's what we could sing for him, in a friendly banter type of way. He'd take it on the chin.

I wouldn't mind so much, I didn't want Megson most of all and now he's gone I'd be happy for most candidates.

Just get us up the league FFS and get us scoring goals, I'm sick of waiting around for something to happen.

Very true.

I'd happily have Souness at Leicester or Dowie for that matter.

Its time that some of these City fans take their heads from their arses and realise LCFC are a lower Championship club who can only attract a certain calibre of manager. ie. NOT Jewell

Souness or Dowie, these are realistic and are a million times better than f*****g Martin Allen and Gary Megson!!!!

well said, to get either of these in our current position would be doing well. Would love Jewell bet it aint going to happen.

According to the Daily Mail:-

Graeme Souness will hold talks with Leicester chairman Milan Mandaric next week about the manager's job at the Walkers Stadium.

Souness, who ruled himself out of the chance to manage Bolton after being interviewed by Reebok chairman Phil Gartside, has emerged as the front-runner for the job.

I have an observation re: Souness, if Mandaric had a problem with the head strong, controversial and offensive Martin Allen, why in God's name would he appoint Graeme Souness?!

So he could sack him and get onto his 6th manager.

According to the FA.com, looks like he is off to Ireland.

Graeme Souness has expressed an interest in taking charge of the Republic of Ireland.

The Football Association of Ireland are looking for a new manager following the departure of Steve Staunton last week.

The former Liverpool and Rangers manager, who has been out of work since leaving Newcastle early last year told the Irish Daily Star: "If I was offered the Ireland job, I would be very interested."He added: "Why wouldn't any manager be keen on leading such a great country's football team, working with a squad which I believe has a lot of potential?"

However the 54-year-old, who has also had spells in charge of Galatasaray, Torino, Benfica, Southampton and Blackburn, admitted he does have some reservations about how well his Rangers connections would go down in Ireland.

Players from the Glasgow club have been abused by Irish fans in the past.

He added: "As a former Rangers manager I would be a bit concerned at how some people might perceive me in Ireland."

That was the first thing I thought of - he made no friends with the Mo Johnston affair

I'd take him any day. Would create a buzz, players feel like they're part of something. It's all psychology at the end of the day. Bet he'd attract some good players with his contacts.
