sambucapleasechief Posted 28 October 2007 Posted 28 October 2007 Top bloke and a very good manager get him in ive no doubts he will make us into a top 6 team . Just look at ipswich before they got rid they were always pushing for promotion in fact just take a look at the guys record its as good as we our likely to get down here.
Sods Posted 28 October 2007 Posted 28 October 2007 Are your lot mad, we not going to get many better managers then him. Plays attacking football as well, slick passing. And then theres everyone moaning about defending too much, fikle.
He's not bald Posted 28 October 2007 Posted 28 October 2007 Are your lot mad, we not going to get many better managers then him. Plays attacking football as well, slick passing. He does like the old "we win if we score more than the opposition" approach and thats great and makes for entertaining football..but we don't have the strikers..DJ is rubbish,Fryatt couldn't hit a barn door,Collins John looks injury prone to me and is on loan anyway..and Hume's not exactly setting the world on fire!
Jack Posted 28 October 2007 Posted 28 October 2007 Wouldn't be my first choice, but if we got him he would definitley be worth a chance

If milan was prepared to give funds for allen, im sure here will for royale. I actually want this to happen now.
Nationwider Posted 28 October 2007 Posted 28 October 2007 The more I think about it, the more I like him. Oldham - his record speaks for itself. Everton - was very popular with the fans, left with his rep intact, a success and could have gone on to do more. Man City - went tits up. But then so have a fair few others. Ipswich - play-off finishes, more good football played. A bonus with Royle would be his connections in football. At 58, he's no spring chicken, but he's an ex-England international, has managed two genuinely big clubs and has a reputation for his teams playing good football. Having been around the block, I reckon he's got a lot of credibility in the game which will count for plenty when it comes to attracting new players. I would imagine his network would easily stretch to people like Harry, Big Sam, Sir Alex etc. He's old enough and wise enough to handle Mandy too. If JR's up for one last shot at the Prem, we could do a lot worse IMO.

Mike the Metal Ed Posted 29 October 2007 Posted 29 October 2007 We could do much, much, much worse. Sign him up.
Thracian Posted 29 October 2007 Posted 29 October 2007 What - an experienced attacking manager? Some of you lot will never cope. It's the results that count - never mind the football.
MPH Posted 29 October 2007 Posted 29 October 2007 Wouldn't be too bad.Better than Smeggy. who wouldnt be!
teblin Posted 29 October 2007 Posted 29 October 2007 Has had success of some kind at all clubs he has been at. Olham - promoted and stayed up against the odds and FA cup Semis twice Everton - Won fa cup 6th place prem finish Man city - 2 promotions Ipswich - 7th place finsh (whilst in admin), 5th and 3rd. Losing in play offs both times. Could be a decent shout. Maybe he could be the DOF for a young manager?

The results do count, but at this moment in time we are not getting them and not playing attcking football. I would rather play attacking football and be where we are than 7 defenders playing.

I have said on numerous occasions that He is a decent manager, no frills just a decent bloke and a decent manager, maybe this is something were lacking at p[resent. *and he was the man who found Darren Bent for god sake.
shrood Posted 29 October 2007 Posted 29 October 2007 I don't really understand this 'hes shit' stuff. His managerial record is clearly superior to any other manager we've appointed in the last few years.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 29 October 2007 Posted 29 October 2007 I don't really understand this 'hes shit' stuff. His managerial record is clearly superior to any other manager we've appointed in the last few years. It's cos he hasn't had a job for a while and he didn't do brilliantly at either Manchester City or Ipswich. Simplistic perhaps but that's the reason.
Fat Ron Posted 29 October 2007 Posted 29 October 2007 I would prefer him to Dowie. I actually think that Royle would suit us this time round, we haven't got a great squad and lets face it, if we cock this appointment up we could be in serious shite. He has the experience to settle the mood here and move us forward. Granted he isn't as flamboyant as Jewell but his tactical knowledge is far superior. I also think that with him being here we would keep Frank & Taggs which is a win win situation.
teblin Posted 29 October 2007 Posted 29 October 2007 It's cos he hasn't had a job for a while and he didn't do brilliantly at either Manchester City or Ipswich.Simplistic perhaps but that's the reason. He didn't do that badly either. 7th, 5th, 3rd, 15th were his finishes for ipswich.

I know a few Man City Fans and they were gutted that it never quite happened for him up there. From what they have told me, I am confident he is the man to sort us out.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 29 October 2007 Posted 29 October 2007 He didn't do that badly either.7th, 5th, 3rd, 15th were his finishes for ipswich. Decent record indeed. I was a bit sceptical based on the fact he hasn't had a job for over a year now but then he was 11 months out the game between Everton and Man City and about 15 months between Man City and Ipswich so maybe it's not important. Certainly he's not a Megson-style defensive manager. Interesting idea.
Jonezy Posted 29 October 2007 Posted 29 October 2007 Pheeew.... Had him mixed up with Joe Kinnear, and thought NOOOOOO!! And now he turns out to be a really good shout.... I'll happily settle with Mr. Royle. (My 1st post by the way.....)
Manwell Pablo Posted 29 October 2007 Posted 29 October 2007 Would take him. His managerial style would be a breath of fresh air and he's got a good record of getting results in this division, with and without money. What he did at Oldham was outstanding.
