From TV coverage:

Fulop 7 (One outstanding save at the edge of his area and very competent in general).

Stearman 5.75 (Let Jackson get inside him for the goal. It was a difficult ball to defend but Connolly managed to thwart Cort when Sheehan gave him a similar ball. Otherwise just middling at best and offered little going forward.)

McAuley 6.5 (Solid and steady. Was not asked too many questions).

N'Gotty 6.5 (Fluffed a goodish chance but was generally in control)

Kisnorbo 6.5 (See McAuley)

Sheehan 6.75 (Eventually saw off a confident and dangerous opponent and so nearly created something with passes which led to near things from Fryatt and Cort, plus his final free kick. Four or five important tackles/headers second half after a mixed first 45. Might have prevented the goal before Yeates got the ball)

Kenton 5.5 (Did better than I expected in the midfield anchor role although the midfield disappeared completely for the early stages of the second half).

Chambers 6 (Worked tirelessly but needed to retain possession better)

Fryatt 6.5 (Good contribution. Almost fashioned an outstanding goal and generally worked well for the team in an unfamiliar position)

John 6.75 (Vital goal brilliantly taken and might have had another)

Campbell 6.5 (Set up the goal with a clever turn and pull-back).

Subs: Cort 6 (Starting to show at last. Got into a couple of good positions but still not efforvescent enough)

Newton 2 (Reduced from 4 because Coale 39 is quite right, he didn't deserve any more. He looked a totally spent force. Was given some decent opportunities but didn't seem to have the pace or conviction to cope).

Burrows/Taggart 7 (Did well to return with a point with the side so decimated and so tired after Wednesday. Tried to remain positive too).

Regarding Matty Fryatt. I must have watched a different game to everyone else. Sky gave him man of the match. Getting 8/10 on here. I thought he was very average tonight. His decision making is poor at best. So many times he could have just laid a simple ball off, but he either takes too many touches and runs into trouble or tries an impossible ball. He is also extremely slow in possession and seems to take loads of unnecessary touches before laying the ball off, which slows us down as a team. Joe Average. Alan Sheehan was my man of the match by the way

Agree with most except:

Fryatt 7.5 Best player

Newton 2 Please dont play again

We desperately need midfield players in the transfer window. Kenton in midfield is madness.

I thought he looked good actually. Sharp and almost created a brilliant goal. ;)

I watched the game on Sky and whilst disappointed not to have won the game, I am pleased with the way the team set out to play and indeed for long periods played in comparison to the snooze-a-thon against S****horpe a month ago. Seemed like the players felt more relaxed and have been given more licence to express themselves than under Megson.

We could and should have been 2-0 up but for some last ditch defending to deny Collins John and Fryatt went close late on. DJ and John looked lively and showed pace and Matty Fryatt did well in a role he is not used to. I do exceot that Shaun Newton seemed to have developed cataracts when he came on and began passing it randomnly anywhere!!

I am pleased with the performance, it wasn't anywhere near our first choice XI given a fully fit squad.

The only thing that really disappointed me today was Frank Burrows ditching the cap, gutted!!!

Fulop 7 (Highly competent)

Kisnorbo 7

NGotty 6 (Struggled against Clive Platt at times aerially)

McCauley 7

Chambers 6

Kenton 6

Stearman 6

Sheehan 7 (Struggled initally against Yeates, quality deliveries though)

Fryatt 8 (MOM, great effort and unlucky not to score late on)

Campbell 7 (Nice touches, has very fast feet almost too fast for his own good at times!)

John 7 (Good finish for goal, looks slightly lazy and moody)

Fulop 6 - His kicking is poor, what lets him down from being a world class keeper

Stearman 4 - Rubbish and got turned inside out all game and offers nothing going forward at all. Everytime a U's player ran at him they skinned him. Fokking awful player

McAuley 6 - Won some good headers and good ball to DJ for the goal

N'Gotty 6 - One really good block in the first half but should had tested the kepper with his shot.

Kisnorbo 6 - Do a ok job, didnt really see him that much.

Sheehan 5.5 - First half, he was awful ... Fell over and give silly free kicks away. Didn't get forward enough aswell. Second half came into the game more and was playing well at the back. Would be a 6 except for his first half display.

Kenton 6 - Drove forward and got some ok tackles in but he is not a midfielder.

Chambers 7 - Never stop running all day and if he had abit of skill. He would be a very good midfielder.

Fryatt 7 - Played well in the centre and always tried to help the frontline and got some good shots away.

John 6 - Very well taken goal and should of had another but the lad should get a few goals this season.

Campbell 6.5 - Best game ive seen him in for along time. Never stop trying and set up the goal really well.

Subs: Cort 5 - Won some headers and some free kicks but i know it was offside but he still should had put that away .. Imagine if that wasn't offside ?! Needs more sharpness

Newton 2 - DIRE

Burrows/Taggart 6 - No plan B.

I don't disagree about Newton's 2. I was just being kind really.

I can't argue with any of that.

Fulop - 7 - Very solid excellent save toward the end where it may have had a deflection - a lot of keeps would have let that slip under their body.

N'Gotty - 6.5 - Solid if unspectacular

Kissa - 6.5 - As above

McAuley - 7 - Did well against a difficult opponent

Sheehan - 5 - Poor corners in first half and should not have allowed cross in for the goal, really, really cannot defend. If we are going to play with wingbacks weneed Mattock back, I would only play Sheehan as a midfielder where his lack of defensive ability is less crucial.

Stearman - 5- Lost his man for the goal. Still hoofs to much. Doesn't drive forward as he did a couple of years ago.

Chambers - 4 - Didn't notice him do anything bad, but then didn't notice he was on the pitch half the time which in my book means he wasn't doing enough. He may have done a lot of running but from where I was standing its hard to judge and I can only go by what I saw which wasn't much.

Kenton - 6- Actually did OK, looked up for it more than most and good driving run at the end.

Fryatt - 6.5 - Tracked back well, don't think I've seen him make that many tackles before, but often indecisive. Not a lot of movement for him though

DJ - 6 - Good first half and did very well for the goal but faded completely in the second half. Looked a better all round player today than he has before - maybe we only paid a million over the odds instead of one and a half

Collins John - 6- Took his goal well and some good touches but I have a sneaky suspicion he may be a bit of a lazy sod.

Subs

Cort - 6.5 - Actually did OK, won a lot of flicks just a sham there was noone there to get onto them.

Newton - 4- waste of time, would have put Sappleton on instead.

Physio - Excellent rugby tackle on CJ when he went a bit mad and lunged at one of their players

Best chant - the man who celverly reversed the classic 'shit ground no fans' to 'shit fans no ground'

Fulop - 7 - solid

N'Gotty - 6 - did his job

Kissa - 6- As above

McAuley - 6

Sheehan - 5 - he can cross i'll give him that thoguh he needs to tighten up his defensive game, I also wouldn't let any player who played for me have his haircut.

Stearman - 4 - Lost his man for the goal. see haircut point above.

Chambers - 5 - ran his arse off, limited ablity as a midfieder

Kenton - 5- did okay,

Fryatt - 6.5 - ran a lot, some good passing

DJ - 6 - looked better than i've seen him before, credit to the skill to create the goal

Collins John - 6- Took his goal well

Subs

cort - see DJ (except th goal bit) should have tucked his offside chance away

Newton - 4

Just got back home from the game.

Fulop - 7

Stearman - 5 - got skinned all game long, offered nothing going forward, lost his man for the goal.

Kisnorbo - 7

McAuley - 7

N'Gotty - 7 - should have at least hit the target with his chance

Sheehan - 5 - very disappointing set pieces all game long apart from the last corner and the late free kick, he didn't even beat the first man for most of them. Poor defensively, got skinned plenty of times including the cross for the goal.

Kenton - 5 - the occasional good run and tackle isn't enough - we need proper midfielders who can pass, make some space and support the strikers

Chambers - 5 - poor passing again but he's not a midfielder. I can't understand how he keeps getting selected in midfield week after week when it's blatently clear that he can't play there

Fryatt - 7 - too many touches let him down, I wish he'd play it simple and quickly - but technically he was assured and created problems

John - 6.5 - looks lively but very moody - he got annoyed with his team mates far too often when the ball didn't come to him.

Campbell - 6.5 - impressed me, very quick and great piece of play to set up the goal. Shouldn't have been subbed off imo.

Subs:

Newton - 3 - rubbish, get rid.

Cort - 4 - he's a poor man's De Vries, he even copies De Vries' no-jump strategy. When he and Fryatt were up front the lack of pace in our front line was shocking. How he missed the rebound I'll never know - he should be thanking his lucky stars that he was offside. Overall a poor cameo performance.

Burrows/Taggart - 6 - shouldn't have taken off John and Campbell, who looked dangerous.

Fulop 7 (Took everything in the air as always, bit hesitant off his line at one point and I expected another world class save to keep the header out)

Stearman 4 (Cost us the points today with the mistake for the goal, beaten down the line all day long and wasted good attacking positions)

Sheehan 6 (Shakey start, got better though. Set pieces weren't up to his high standards either.)

Kisnorbo

McAuley 7s (Rock solid as usual)

N'gotty

Chambers 6 (Got forward well enough, just doesn't have any quality in the final third)

Kenton 6 (Did a job in front of the back four)

Fryatt 7 (Decent game, thinks he's C.Ronaldo at times though and tries to beat 4 men when an easy ball is on)

DJ 7 (Looked sharp, great play for the goal)

John 7 (Didn't get much ball but took his chance)

Just got back home from the game.

Fulop - 7

Stearman - 5 - Offered nothing going forward.

Kisnorbo - 7

McAuley - 7

N'Gotty - 7 - Anyone but Bruno I wanted that chance to fall to!

Sheehan - 6 - After Wednesday, I thought his delivering would of been better, however it let him down.

Kenton - 5

Chambers - 5 - Neither him of Kenton are doing themselves any favours in midfield.

Fryatt - 7 - Got on the ball a lot when he came deep, struggled after that.

John - 6.5 - Didn't see the goal, goal is a goal though! Nothing much else.

Campbell - 6 - Offered us something different thought he did well, needs a midfield behind him though.

Subs:

Newton - 3 - Joker.

Cort - 4 - Meh.

Burrows/Taggart - 0 - Should of gave Big Ric a run out! :P
