Flynny Posted 24 November 2007 Posted 24 November 2007 God how's he pulled that off? Looking forward to seeing this on MotD.
Matt Posted 24 November 2007 Posted 24 November 2007 Get the goal, Defend the goal, Job Done Megson style.
Flynny Posted 24 November 2007 Author Posted 24 November 2007 Get the goal, Defend the goal, Job Done Megson style. Beats Go out there and enjoy yourselfs, Get raped 4-1, "Hold on let's be fair they tried their best, they're a good bunch of lads", Rob Kelly style, I suppose. I was gutted he didn't get a game in charge of Preston. Gutted.
purpleronnie Posted 24 November 2007 Posted 24 November 2007 Think the bolton fans will be warming to him now, an amazing result in germany now this.
Ultra Posted 24 November 2007 Posted 24 November 2007 Think the bolton fans will be warming to him now, an amazing result in germany now this. And now they're up to 15th place! Pray that doesn't last...
The Stig Posted 24 November 2007 Posted 24 November 2007 He's a average manager, he'll keep them up but they'll do nothing else while he's in charge.
Micky Ruddle Posted 25 November 2007 Posted 25 November 2007 His bubble will burst soon. As they say, he is on their honeymoon period.
davieG Posted 25 November 2007 Posted 25 November 2007 It's still allardyce's squad the proof of his ability will come when he has to change that squad.
lcfc_jme Posted 25 November 2007 Posted 25 November 2007 Tevez missed a glorious chance to make it 1-1 in the second half, could and should have gone in and might well have changed the game. Bolton didn't really look anything going forward from what I saw on MoTD after getting the goal (which, incidentally Pique made a real mess of). Typical Gary Megson performance.
Brainy Posted 25 November 2007 Posted 25 November 2007 Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson on referee Mark Clattenburg:"I told the referee what I thought - some referees don't like it. They don't like the truth. "But I just told him how bad he was in the first-half. "I know Bolton are battling for their lives at the bottom but they were a bit aggressive and we were looking for some protection from the referee." I didn't think Ferguson spoke to the BBC, unless it was taken from somewhere else.
Simi Posted 25 November 2007 Posted 25 November 2007 I can't believe they played 4-3-3 It was probably a 4-5-1 that fooled people.
Nath Posted 25 November 2007 Posted 25 November 2007 It was probably a 4-5-1 that fooled people. I do think Nolan and Davies played a more midfield role. But it was supposed to be 4-3-3
The Stig Posted 25 November 2007 Posted 25 November 2007 It made me laugh when the commentator on MOTD said "Megsons at least made Bolton hard to beat" He made us hard to beat but we were still crap. I'd take ollie over Ginger Nuts anyday.

Manwell Pablo Posted 25 November 2007 Posted 25 November 2007 It's still allardyce's squad the proof of his ability will come when he has to change that squad. You say that but I don't ever remember Big Sam getting three points off Man U whilst at Bolton. I might be wrong I haven't checked it. Credit where credit is due, it looked a absloute dire game but Bolton aren't ever going to beat Man u by outplaying them are they?

I think they beat them 2-1 at Old Trafford a few years back - Ricketts scored the winner from what I can remember.
AyewJoking Posted 25 November 2007 Posted 25 November 2007 Not surprising really, well it is but the fact Megson achieved it isnt. He has better players now. No offence to Hume but he's not fit to polish Anelka's bellend.

They did (01-02) - and Nolan got a winner in the same fixture the season afterwards. Saturday's win was the first against United at Bolton since the days of Frankie Wortho. It owed a lot to the ref though - how Davies escaped a red card for his series of assaults on Evra, only Mark Clattenburg knows..

Bolton were absolutely brutal on Saturday and Manchester United were very poor. Made Bolton under Allardyce look like Ajax or Barcelona. It made me very glad that Megson has taken his brand of anti-football elsewhere. He will probably be a better appointment for Bolton than for he was for Leicester as he has the squad capable of successfully playing that style. Our lads only look good when they keep the ball on the floor.
