Manwell Pablo Posted 26 November 2007 Posted 26 November 2007 Guppy was getting his words all of a muddle too!Aminated instead of animated and his best effort for Wesolowski was Waleski!! I'll let Guppy off though, he's there because of he used to play for Leicester not beacuse he's supposidly good at what he does.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 26 November 2007 Posted 26 November 2007 That's the problem with journalism, it's so badly-paid you end up with lots of writers, reporters and broadcasters who have always wanted to do it but aren't necessarily literate or articulate - especially in the local media.
danny. Posted 26 November 2007 Posted 26 November 2007 And while we are at it,we could do one to swap the Kop with The Family Stand! I would be better to swap the Kop for an army of cloned Hossein Kaebis.
Wycombe Fox Posted 26 November 2007 Posted 26 November 2007 I'll let Guppy off though, he's there because of he used to play for Leicester not beacuse he's supposidly good at what he does. True...at least Guppy was good at what he was supposed to be good at unlike Barber...
gosfox Posted 26 November 2007 Posted 26 November 2007 Why did they get rid of Nev in the first place? was it his decision to go or was he pushed?? at least he was pretty knowledgable and gave the impression that he was bothered about what was going on!!! To be honest I feel embarrased sometimes with some of the comments that jumped up prck, Barber, makes to the likes of Walshie and Gerry..... he's not fit to lace their boots
Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 26 November 2007 Posted 26 November 2007 I hate it when he just goes of onto something completely random for 5 minutes or more and then comes back to the match saying something like "don't worry you're not missing much"... just shut up and discribe whats going on and I'll judge if it's a boring match. Don't get me started. Please. I also hate the way he says "Of kerse" instead of "Of course" and "Carling Kerp" instead of "Carling Cup"
Thracian Posted 26 November 2007 Posted 26 November 2007 I am going to go for his job. I hope you get it!
Raikkonen Posted 26 November 2007 Posted 26 November 2007 According to the Virgin media commentator, we've got a player called Steadman, and the Bristol City manager is called Graham.
hairy Posted 27 November 2007 Posted 27 November 2007 Who was the commentators last night as I couldn't see Barber to pass on your comments just Walsh? Was it any better?
izzetafox? Posted 5 December 2007 Posted 5 December 2007 Barber's commentary has got to stop. I basically heard nothing of the bristol game yesterday, when people told me of some of the highlights, i literally had no idea! when walshy is there to keep him on track he is ok, but other than that... ughhAnd what is with turning the crowd noise off? started with the fireworks at colchester (fairplay), now it just completely takes away the atmosphere. Well Barber was rubbish again!...My mum rang me at full time and said 'Who is that commentator?!, He was awfull!, i didnt know where the ball was half the time!', need i say more?!!!!!!!
Dames Posted 5 December 2007 Posted 5 December 2007 I'm taking Media right now so hopefully within 2 years i should be qualified to steal his job
Geo V Posted 5 December 2007 Posted 5 December 2007 Thankfully I am usually at the matches or abroad but when I do tune in I find Barber shockingly poor. When actually commentating on the game as things happen he is actually very good but he seems anti-Leicester and his football knowledge is terrible. Yesterday when WBA pulled a goal back to make it 2-1, he said that Bednar scored and queried whether or not that was the Arsenal striker who was on loan to Brum last season. Nicklas Bendtner was who he meant FFS! Its just error after error and I wonder if he has a day job in an office or chippy or something as he doesnt seem to research anything and know much about football in general.

Manwell Pablo Posted 5 December 2007 Posted 5 December 2007 Don't get me started.Please. I also hate the way he says "Of kerse" instead of "Of course" and "Carling Kerp" instead of "Carling Cup" Maddy Fryert. thats the worst.
Fez of Mahrez Posted 5 December 2007 Posted 5 December 2007 I'm aiming to take a week's annual leave in order to do some work experience at Radio Leicester early next year. I'm going to bring Barber down from the inside.
Milans Foxes Posted 5 December 2007 Posted 5 December 2007 The guy is totally useless! He has no all-round football knowledge and he just talks generally with his co-commentator about holidays and how far they are from the pitch (an excuse cos he couldn't tell which Leicester player had gone down). The thing about Bednar for West Brom was laughable. It was even more funny when Gibson said yeah, he is on loan from a foreign team in Europe. He's on loan from Hearts ffs and he even had a trial at City under Levein at one point but no mention of that. Instead he thought it was Niklas Bendtner from Arsenal!! Anyone who keeps up to date with football should know which players are at which clubs. There was no background info about the Burnley players. It was like he hadn't heard of most of them. No Kyle Lafferty, Northern Ireland international or Clarke Carlisle, ex Watford and Leeds. He just doesn't do stats which is a basic requirement for a commentator. His commentary is awful!! One minute there is nothing going on so he's off track, then Leicester get a corner out of no-where and then suddenly Burnley have a free-kick in our half. Anyone that listens to his commentary has no idea what has happened. It makes it even more annoying when the opposition score or we waste a chance because you don't even know if its gone in for about 10 seconds. I'd absolutely love his job as well. Listening to clips from other local radio stations, the commentators show real passion and go crazy when they score but describe it well as well. Please fook off Barber!!

Some other local radio stations are no better though. Listened to Crewe v Northampton the other day at my mates house and they referred to practically every single opposition player as "Crewe" i.e. "headed out by Crewe, shot by Crewe" - it was hilarious. Also one of the commentators turned up ten minutes late and they had a conversation on air filling him in on who was playing and what the formation was etc. At a Millwall away game one of them left early to get the train home. Brilliant.

He also, upon hearing that Celtic where losing, was so confident in saying 'a defeat would mean Celtic are out....'. Knob. Get your facts right. He is clueless. When commenting on attendances he tried to explain that Filbert St capacity was 18,000 FFS!!!

Thracian Posted 5 December 2007 Posted 5 December 2007 As I said elsewhere recently, I'm well up for it.My price is low... and I'm to be paid in pints (before the game). What a wonderful experiment that would be - your Radio Leicester commentary after the two pints of Barbars I'd happily buy you beforehand. Entertainment guaranteed.

Fair enough mate as Im not a fan of a million pre-written stats being spouted out but surely as someone who commentates on all our games he will be fully up to speed on the division we play in? How dumb is he when he cant work out the difference between an on loan player from Hearts and a Danish International from Arsenal all because there names start with the letter B and end in the letter R!!!??? Clueless commentator who doesnt care if we win or lose. Punt the to$$er out and get a Leicester supporter in for some hard core pieces of bias
Bluefoxtim Posted 5 December 2007 Posted 5 December 2007 He was talking about nothing in the dying minutes then says "how much stoppage time is there? I missed it" No-one gives a crap about the weather and your journey to the ground...please gain some football knowledge..."its 2-0 to stoke with cresswell getting both, james beattie with the second". You've said it's 2-0, but mentioned 3 goals, and beattie doesn't even play for stoke!

I'm sure he misread it.
