Samilktray Posted 3 December 2007 Share Posted 3 December 2007 Is the Talib Kweli one as good as the Reflection Eternal stuff and Train of Thought (one of the my favourite hip hop albums)? First time ive listened to a Talib Kweli album and it was very enjoyable, on a few music forums its had mixed reviews with some people claiming it to be his best work yet and others saying its not as good as previous work. Not a lot really, I don't listen much hip hop apart from RJD2 and Dj shadows stuff, nor drumnbass. Of that list 65daysofstatic and Caspian are post rock / instrumental bands which is the nearest thing to progressive (or experimental) rock. I reckon you'd like 65daysofstatic's first album (The Fall of Math) as their is a hint of drumnbass in there as well And as a Radiohead fan, try and have a listen to any of Elliott Smith's albums that were released upto XO

Tommeh Posted 3 December 2007 Share Posted 3 December 2007 And you call yourself a Wombats fan. You heard the album? Huge disppointment IMO having heard the majority of songs before the album was released most of them were remixed and made much worse! I am a big Wombats fan and still listen to their songs often but I felt their album was a big letdown. Get on MSN and get Joe to send you the good ones. Fez of Mahrez Posted 3 December 2007 Share Posted 3 December 2007 1. The Cribs - Men's Needs, Women's Needs, Whatever Just the best songs I've heard all year. Every song on the album is as catchy as hell and I never get sick of listening to it. 2. Good Shoes - Think Before You Speak See above, just slightly less so and maybe one or two fillers. Still fantastic album that will always have a place in my heart for the great times I've had seeing them live this year. 3. Radiohead - In Rainbows My favourite album they've ever done. 4. Future of the Left - Curses Almost like Mclusky are back. Almost. 5. LCD Soundsystem - Sound of Silver Even better than his debut, somehow. 6. Tokyo Police Club - A Lesson in Crime Brilliantly catchy. 7. Shy Child - Noise Won't Stop Thrilling music that takes the tired 1980s throwback indie start-stop formula and gives it a totally fresh twist. 8. Stateless - Stateless Beautiful album. 9. Metric - Grow Up And Blow Away Just love her voice and again catchy songs. 10. Art Brut - It's A Bit Complicated F**king funny and one of the most underrated bands in the country. Porcupine Tree, Tool and to a lesser extent Dream Theater, Coheed & Cambria if you're into PF and progrock. Especially PT are very influenced by Pink Floyd and are British on top of that
