Commeth the hour commeth the man goes the saying and, if Andy King is going to make an early impression at Leicester he couldn't pick a better time than tonight at Ipswich.

Nothing could surprise me about a Leicester City line-up but with Leicester City so desperate for creativity in midfield surely King will get a start tonight.

And if he does it's time for the real Andy King to step forward.

So far he's done what's been asked and expected of him. He's not taken risks but has done the simple thing quietly and competently.

He needs to keep do those simple things well but now more than ever he needs to demonstrate that he can support attackers, play incisive passes, chip in with a few shots and hopefully even a header or two to convince Holloway that he's not just another gap filler.

Holloway is on the lookout for new attackers and King needs to make sure he's not the man moved aside.

He needs to improve his stamina so he can last the full 90 minutes at championship level if necessary, not easy for someone who naturally covers a lot of ground but at a steady, well managed pace rather than anything that might look flat out.

But mostly he needs to get back into those places that make him a little bit special - the late runs into the box which are so difficult to counter.

King, sometimes for obvious reasons, has become withdrawn this season. Not personally but football-wise. He's become virtually a full-time holding midfielder not only in the first team but in the reserves and, towards the end, in the Academy side too.

In a way I understand it. He's a reliable defender. Wins the ball in the air, decent control, passes it quickly and acurately. Just what managers love.

But unlike Clemence, Wesolowski, Kenton and Maybury, Andy King is quite at home bursting into the penalty box. And he can finish. Indeed the number of shots he used to have in Academy games was extraordinary for a midfield player.

Nowadays he doesn't seem to go there. I don't mean he tries and fails or he gets marked out of it. He just doesn't take the trip as if he's been ordered to remain disciplined and to only be concerned with doing certain things in a certain area of the field.

If that's the case it is such a waste.

Andy King needs to show now what we might be missing. His long range shot against Southampton showed a momentary glimpse of what he can do but I'm thinking of much simpler goals I've seen him score. Back post headers from a few yards, well-timed tap ins, slick 18-yarders. Also his ability to play one-two's in the box.

King's problem is that others, like Clemence and Wesolowski, are seen as "established". Clemence is the captain and he won't easily get dropped and Weso's so well thought of he can even declare himself fit to play and be listened to.

It will be no use Kingy just plodding in midfield cos he's last man in and will be first man out. Especially as the nipper the way Holloway now talks.

King needs to have some impact. He needs to stamp his skills and his personality on the game. And King does have personality. Unfortunately it's not easily seen cos he doesn't stand out physically on the field, he might be anyone.

But at his best King is a really influential footballer and he has to show that now if he's not to risk being overshadowed and quite possible cast into oblivion.

This "Andy King" you speak of, you must have got him confused with Rooney?

Rooney, Scholes.... I bet he doesn't even play. :D

We'll have Maybury, N'Gotty and Clemence in centre midfield and the Dourists will be dancing with delight saying how well we'd battled and how much we deserved a draw through our sheer bloody-mindedness.

King has done good so far but if the rest of the team i.e Stearman, Clemence, Fryatt, Kisnorbo etc all play badly again, then we aint gonna win no matter how good King is.

We need 11 good footballers on the field. So far we have a few, King, Hayes, Fulop, Sheehan, Mattock etc but players like Clemence, Stearman, have been playing awful. Even Kisnorbo seems to be playing badly recently.

We need to ship out at least 10 in January and sign at least 5 quality players

Where do we get those quality players from though? And why would they want to come to a relegation bound Championship club? Thats the question you have to ask Ollie.

He was a hack for a bit.

Unfortunately they sacked him when they realised he just kept writing the same old story again and again and again...

Cheap shot for the day, number 2.

Why don't you work as a journalist :dunno:

Haven't you read today's news?

According to Labour's own Statistics Commission, four fifths of all jobs since this Government came to power have gone to migrants. I am not a migrant.

I was born here. But a massive 81% of the 1.7 million new jobs created for people of working age since 1997 - that is 1.4 million - were taken by workers who were born abroad. Put another way, a measly 19% of those new jobs went to people who were born in the UK.

That being the case perhaps you'll understand why people like me don't apply for jobs. :nono:

I preferred it when you were waxing lyrical about Andy King.

Tbh, if it was someone that you'd never have heard about people would be like "Thank God the authorities are starting to get rid of immigrants etc. etc."

Still, he should be allowed to stay in England because he has been here for the past 4 years and has worked hard etc. - he isn't some criminal or thief like other imigrants

Thrach and DB ,have to be related lol

Hard to see why cos I have no idea what the DB snippet is on about. But I do see the usual 1+1=3 which occurs whenever such a sensitive subject is raised and which somehow seeks to convey a message that isn't there and isn't in any way implied or intended.

Truth is I found my own quoted statistics very uncomfortable. Disgraceful really.

But if everyone else is happy what's it matter? It's not my problem.

Indeed it shows that Gordon Brown doesn't, in fact, need to worry about his recent promise to create some jobs specifically for UK natives after all.

It only smacked of guilty conscience anyway.

Can't really judge how he played but he was unlikely to cover himself in glory in the circumstances.

Also can i get a report on how you feel about Kaebi out lasting your 2 saviors?

King might just have run himself into the ground like Hume.

The Sheehan change sounded tactical.

Apart from having an iffy first half I've no idea how Kaebi's gone second half. He's hardly had a mention.

Chambers sounds as if he's been a hero though.

Really good tactic!!

Unproven Right Midfield (Kaebi) who won't defend (but has something going forward) moves to Right Back!

Struggling left full (Mattock) left on with no defensive help

Set piece specialist (Sheehan) "sacrificed" - where else did he think a goal would come from??

Could he not:

Take off Kaebi - Hume to Right Midfield - Chambers to Right Full

He is either checking out all the squad/playing Milans choices/putting players in a shop window/or hasn't a clue

Answers on a £20 note please.

Or maybe all of the above ??

He could indeed have done that.

But it was obvious he was determined to see Kaebi for 90 minutes.

No need to grumble at me. I've mentioned my concerns about Mattock and Kaebi lots of times.

Was agreeing with you - doubt you would have used those tactics at HT
