Ollies list as long as his arm..

Ian Holloway revealed he has got a transfer list “as long as my arm†after seeing two bids turned down yesterday.

The Leicester City boss suffered an initial knock-back from Plymouth Argyle for David Norris and Barry Hayles.

But Holloway, who will no doubt again go back in for the pair, has plenty more targets when the transfer window opens at the end of the month.

He said: “There is a list as long as my arm and all down my leg as well.

“This is what this club has never had before, no planning or structure to what happened in the summer, and what I have to do is sweep up that mess and move on.

“There will be a mad scramble for good players and I can promise you a lot of them will want to come to Leicester.

“There will be all sorts of speculation and I can honestly say that my chief scout Gary Penrice's phone has not stopped ringing from people wanting to come to Leicester City, and that is a great option for us.

“It will be done in a calm, calculated way and everyone already here will be given a fresh chance. We need midfielders, wide players and maybe a front man.

“The names will change over the next couple of weeks, I will be making a lot of phone calls, we will buy some of them, borrow some of them and, if I could, I would steal some as well.â€

Holloway wants to be judged only when he is fielding a side which is his team.

He said: “I have inherited another man's team and I have come here to sift through that and build a team.

“If I had been responsible for bringing in 14 players in the summer then I would be feeling the pressure, but right now I am looking forward with great heart and hope to build a team in the next three-and-a-half years from this division into the next one.

“The chairman Milan Mandaric's enthusiasm to do it is real, and I am building a relationship with him that will bring the quality of players the fans want to see, and ensure we end up better than 17th by the end of the season.

“We have half the season to do it but, more importantly, I have got three-and-a-half years to build a team here which the fans will be proud of - and I can't wait.â€

Let's hope he finds someone before he gets to his smelly socks as for the 3.5 years to build a team, fair enough that should be an ongoing process anyway as it should never be finished but I'm sure MM wants to see some significant progress e.g promotion way, way before then.

I think this quote is particularly interesting...

Can we please now start to be realistic like Milan & Ollie and stop talking about Play Offs!!!!

I sympathise about his wanting to be judged when playing with his team. How many managers much have said that over the seasons?

Unfortunately Holloway has to cope with now first and, irrespective of what's going on behind the scenes, should be getting the best out of what we have.

I'm not sure he's doing that. And comments like the above - which basically imply that what he's got is shit - don't help whether they're true or not.

I'm not sure he's doing that even though I've documented my support for the guy. And comments like the above - which basically imply that what he's got is shit - don't help whether they're true or not.

Im sure he really appriciates your support Thrac.

And as for what comment? Mine about being realistic?

Ok, lets go for the Championship

I'm not in the mood today. Absolute load of bollocks.

Oh cheer up you miserable goat! Believe me when I say it could be much worse, you could be me.

Mentioned only because - in the present climate - some reactionaries would have been interpreted my criticism as meaning I wanted the guy out. I don't. I don't want any more changes of manager this season.

its all good having a list as long as his arm, but martin allen had a list as long as the great wall of china... i couldnt care less if it was 1 player, as long as its a player that is capable of playing football

Superb point!!

Although Ollie has had a dig at the 'planning' of the summer spree.

lets hope that he has more sense than Allen..

He also said he wanted a structure to the team, IE not buying about 4 players for a position we have plenty of players in already, although, if Hayles and Ageymang are on the list that might be a bit of a contradiction, unless he's looking to shift some strikers...

Two words...media speculation.

There are a lot of lazy journalists out there and just because we are linked with Ageymang it doesn't mean that we really do want to buy him.

What strikers, I haven't see any at the club for about 2 seasons?

considering there all injured, once they come back we will have a good array of strikers... strikers isnt the problem (as ive said for the fifteth time), its our midfield, its disgraceful
