Bluemoon Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 thats what it looks like to me ; i think keane wants some funds to strengthen his squad and trying to force our hands a litle ( hopefully anyway) Yep....looks like we have our first buy of the Ollie era! Woohoooo! Hope the asking price isn't ridiculous
Zingari Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 Yep....looks like we have our first buy of the Ollie era! Woohoooo! Hope the asking price isn't ridiculous he may have us over the proverbial barrel at the mo. but he too cannot afford to waste too much time, maybe a good "poker face" nerve would come in handy with any dealings

Zingari Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 Best put MM on the case then.......can't see Ollie playing it cool....he'd end up trying to put Keane in an arm lock yes those two together would more likely end up poking each other than playing poker a career in the diplomatic corps is not for them
SOCCERROO FOX Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 this is not a good thread first thing in the morning
FleckneyFox Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 BTW on the little thing that runs across the bottom on SSN it sais Fulop wants to come here permanent in the summer.
WetFlannel Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 Maybe he should play terribly in the next few games (if hes still here) to warn them off
Zingari Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 this is not a good thread first thing in the morning at least the day can get better for you
Asha Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 As in breaking News?Surely not. I think he means like the latest news where it says 'Premiership' Championship Golf News etc. You know the white bit
Staf Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 Sorry if already posted but of SSN website tonight : Sunderland goalkeeper Marton Fulop would be interested in sealing a permanent deal at Leicester City. The Hungarian shot-stopper joined The Foxes on a season-long loan in August and has firmly established himself as first choice. And With Craig Gordon and Darren Ward in front of him at Sunderland, he is keen to negotiate a move to the Walkers Stadium. Fulop told the Leicester Mercury: "It's up to the two clubs. I am up for negotiation. I really enjoy it here. The two clubs have to agree first. "I like it here. I am playing games and I am enjoying my time at Leicester." Fulop went on to praise the Leicester fans for their support during a torrid run of form - which has seen The Foxes go six league games without victory. "It's true that we're not on the top of the table, but we have conceded the second least goals and this fact is a credit to our defence," he told nb1.hu. "I can only speak highly of our supporters as they voted me the player of the month two times."
Mikey Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 I so hope he stays. If he doesn't...we are f**ked.
Trav Le Bleu Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 It's brinkmanship like davieG said... Fulop is their 3rd choice keeper (somehow) and as the Hartlepool news article suggests, it may well be to sell him on. And if it is brinkmanship then we'll see just how dedicated MM is if he gets the wallet out! And for goodness sake... sounds like an army of Private Frazers from Dad's Army out there, "we're all dooooomed!!" One player does not a team make nor save. Not saying he's not been VERY important in bad results not being worse, but I'd rather have a brilliant defence that requires the goalkeeper to be doing very little work in the first place. If we can sort that out, then we can get by with Henderson
Jack Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 If we get him in on a permanent, it will be the best bit of business we have done since signing Izzet.
David O'Leary Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 If we get him in on a permanent, it will be the best bit of business we have done since signing Izzet. If not, Kenton to have a go in goal?
Matt Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 If we get him in on a permanent, it will be the best bit of business we have done since signing Izzet. I'm not sure, he'll be the best bit of business. Yes he'll probably be the best player we've signed since Izzet (Although wouldn't like to stick my head out saying that...You know the Leicester curse we'll sign someone and they suddenly become shit) but we signed Izzet for thousands, I think we could be looking at Millions for Fulop.
FilboFox Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 Feck Feck Fook!!!! This is possibly the WORST news that we have had since.... well.... the news that Megson was signing!!! Neilsen in goal... ah well... he might be good after all... we'll just have to see.
Jack Posted 21 December 2007 Posted 21 December 2007 If not, Kenton to have a go in goal? Nah im still up for the idea of playing him up front Machine he is
Cheese Me Posted 22 December 2007 Posted 22 December 2007 I'm not sure, he'll be the best bit of business.Yes he'll probably be the best player we've signed since Izzet (Although wouldn't like to stick my head out saying that...You know the Leicester curse we'll sign someone and they suddenly become shit) but we signed Izzet for thousands, I think we could be looking at Millions for Fulop. Nah, we took Izzet in on loan when we could have bought him for peanuts and paid 3/4 million for him in the end when we got promoted to make it permanent. I'd expect a pretty similar situation with Fulop (except for the promotion bit)

I'd expect a pretty similar situation with Fulop (except for the promotion bit) http://www.soccerbase.com/players_details.sd?playerid=3834 According to Soccerbase, he cost £650,000. Plus Matt Elliott at £1.6m, Frank Sinclair at £2m, and Darren Eadie at £3m were all reported record signings at lower or equal to your estimate.
Geo V Posted 22 December 2007 Posted 22 December 2007 Oh Dear. That isn't the Xmas news that I was looking for at all. Its just another reminder how shocking our permanent deals have been as our best player by a country mile was a lad we bought in on loan.
