As Fez said Kavanagh would probably be a short term fix and a good one at that. I'd take him in a loan move till the end of the season.

I heard 2 interviews on RL yesterday, 1 with Ollie and the other with MM. Reading between the lines in both interviews it doesn't look good for signing Fulop.

Ollie said something to the effect that he wouldn't be held to ransom on players and Mandaric said something about QPR splashing cash and putting up the prices for players. Sounds like the rumours of him going to QPR might have something in them.

The QPR rumour for Fulop is rubbish. The one area QPR don't need to strengthen is in goal. Lee Camp has proved excellent for them again this year and along with Buzsacky is one of the few players they don't need to replace.

p.s. I should say that if we get caught in a bidding war, I'd let Fulop go to a different club. He is Premiership quality no doubt but we need to spread our money wisely and I'm not sure I believe the rumours we've got sh*t loads to spend.

Too true. If we spend more than about three or four million in January I'll be shocked. Ollie clearly has a tight budget and I don't think blowing half of it on Fulop is on his agenda. It's a real shame as I really want Fulop to stay, but I think Sunderland are going to play silly buggers with this.

That would be very reassuring if I hadn't noted what we'd spent a considerable amount of money on so far under MM.

And I'm not yet at all convinced that we won't go wasting some more.

Id be willing to spend upto 1.5 on Fulop, he is prem qaulity, and has played absolutly amazing since joining us, and has been far the best player on the pitch. He is the best keeper weve had since Walker and is arguably better then Walker. However i cant see us spending silly money on players, and to be perfectly honest i think alot of deals in january will be loans from prem teams, Sinclair from chelsea? i dont think johns loan will be exteneded. I think IH will be looking for a target man aswell, although who im not so sure, the days of little and large upfront seem to be dying.

PLEASE SIGN FULOP!! PLEASE RK DONT BE A TOSS*R OVER THIS.

I'd be quite happy to be held to ransom over Fulop if I'm honest. Anything up to 2.5 million is an alright deal if we get him tied down to a long-term contract. He could last us forever.

I agree. Good goalkeepers doesn't come around very often, so pay the price and get him in. (We can sell him for 9m in a few seasons time anyway....)

I think there are quite a few good goalkeepers around at the moment which we could possably pursue... I dont want us spending all our money when its clear the mdifield is something that needs to be looked at

Fulop just looks to me as a class keeper. He is calm and collected, and very very rarely makes a mistake. He would strengthen half the premiership teams in my opinion and a chance to sign such a keeper shouldn't be missed because of 1m if we actually have the money....

I'm not being flippant, I'd genuinely like to know. I'm not sure there are many keepers we could actually get who are better than Fulop.

However, I do agree with you about the money thing. We can't afford to go and blow half, if not more, of our transfer budget on a goalkeeper if it means we would miss out in other areas. Fulop's done us a helluva lot of favours up to this point, but I'd be less bothered about keeping clean sheets if we start banging them in at the other end.

well, to me, splashing the cash on Fulop WOULD be spending it wisely...

We do have a fair bit to spend as Ollie revealed his in experience in spending big bucks in declaring ' i have been given a good budget to spend. it would even be a good budget for the division above' ( or words to that effect). That might have as much to do with prices for players going up as anything else has...

the only reason why the GK doesnt appear a problem to solve right now is because we HAVE Fulop. On loan. letting him go would reveal to us just how good he is and just how much we actually need him......
