syston_fox Posted 26 December 2007 Posted 26 December 2007 Speaking of smacks on the head.... how did that defender get back up let alone complete the game after nearly getting his block knocked off by Stearman?
The Stig Posted 26 December 2007 Posted 26 December 2007 Shame it happened to a ref who was doing a good job, by the way its the same ref today as it was for the home game V Stoke.
Bert Posted 26 December 2007 Posted 26 December 2007 Shame it happened to a ref who was doing a good job, by the way its the same ref today as it was for the home game V Stoke. Funny how he done a good job when we win...
Matt Posted 26 December 2007 Posted 26 December 2007 Shame it happened to a ref who was doing a good job, by the way its the same ref today as it was for the home game V Stoke. I've got it in my head he was the referee for the Wolves game last season, last game of the season, not sure, just got it in my head he was
DB11 Posted 27 December 2007 Posted 27 December 2007 Laurent Robert Titus Bramble Yes, I can see how he got mixed up Aren't they the other way around? I think
Ultra Posted 27 December 2007 Posted 27 December 2007 Shame it happened to a ref who was doing a good job, by the way its the same ref today as it was for the home game V Stoke. He had a howler. There was an incident in the first half where Ipswich attacked, Stearman headed a cross behind.....and the ref gave a goal-kick. The Kop was convulsed in mirth. The linesman, though, was even worse. Why do the league persist in appointing officials with NO understanding of the offside law?
James. Posted 27 December 2007 Posted 27 December 2007 That was the most pathetic "injury" I've ever seen I think. He was already stumbling a bit to get out of the way and the ball (travelling about 2 miles an hour) just finished him off. For want of a better phrase, what a woman.
Father Ted Posted 27 December 2007 Posted 27 December 2007 Speaking of smacks on the head.... how did that defender get back up let alone complete the game after nearly getting his block knocked off by Stearman? He got subbed after 55 minutes. And the ref The way everybody cheered in F1 when he went down was just pure comedy. And to give 3 yellow cards in the first 11 minutes is just ridiculous. Somebody would have been sent off if he stayed on the pitch.

Bit unjustifiably hurtful to women that. If he'd been your own kid you'd have told him to get up and stop making such a fuss. My immediate thought was to wonder if there was some insurance angle.
Simi Posted 27 December 2007 Posted 27 December 2007 I thought the ref was having a decent game up until the injury. The replacement seemed to not want to let the game flow which was a shame, but probably helped us a bit.

When he went in clumisily again he only had himself to blame. The card for their player was right too as he committed a deliberate act in pulling down our player. I can't remember the other one
Staf Posted 27 December 2007 Posted 27 December 2007 lol Do you remember when we played Newcastle at the Walkers? Laurent Robert twatted it at Olivier Bernard, now that was point blank range, now that was probably twice as hard as what hit the ref, and im sure he carried on? That was hilarious and didnt Bernard stay on the pitch

James. Posted 27 December 2007 Posted 27 December 2007 Oy! Grrrrrrrrr!!! You're so predictable. I made a concerted effort to soften the blow by adding "For want of a better phrase"... Oh and you never PM'd me about the pub damn it! I was in the Counting House with loads of Ipswich fans before going Nando's for chicken. Maybe next time eh.
demon_dog Posted 27 December 2007 Posted 27 December 2007 Seemed funny at the time, seems he had to spend time with the doctor though before being allowed to travel home, so must have been hurt more than we thought. I recall several years ago at Filbert street, a ball flew into the Kop and hit a fan full in the face. They had to take him down the tunnel to see the doc, his nose was streaming blood, he came back 30 or so mins. later. A true fan, didn't want to miss the game, they thought he had broken his nose and wanted him to go to the Royal but he said no way until the match is over.
Stuliasz Posted 27 December 2007 Posted 27 December 2007 The thing is no-one seemed to realise that the board for stoppage time (5 mins) was put up 4 minutes into injury time, yet they still played another 5 unless they literally stop the clock for ref injuries?

At Charlton away this season, Our players were warming up, Towards the end of there warm up they started taking shots, Hume shot, went wide of the goal and hit a women, her eye swelled out and it looked a hard hit, Hume was quite concerned but not really much else he could do, not sure what happened to the women, she was taken to the top of the stand and sat in a disabled bit, they got a doctor/first aider to look at her, think she watched the game from the disabled bit though. I doubt it was anywhere near the speed of what a professional footballer would kick a football but when I was about 13/14 I kicked a football on the volley at the top of my garden, I carried onto the patio where my mum was sorting some plants and hit her on the head, that about knocked her down, she said she was seeing stars Felt quite guilty

Yeah one geezer in front of me was goin absolutely **** ape about this. If they'd scored two in the last couple of minutes I think he would have actually burnt the place down.
Simi Posted 27 December 2007 Posted 27 December 2007 The main clock broke early in the second half which didn't help things at all.

Compared to most of the refs in this league he was having a great game.

James. Posted 27 December 2007 Posted 27 December 2007 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uIsjWcLrTsU That made me piss myself. There's something so funny about his little sway and stumble before he finally hits the deck.
MPH Posted 27 December 2007 Posted 27 December 2007 That made me piss myself. There's something so funny about his little sway and stumble before he finally hits the deck. i love it. i probably am reponsible for at least half of the views of that clip.

I can't remember the other one Clemence. Who is banned for Soton. Chambers is on a 1 game ban too.
