Charlton Post Match Thread

Strange that the fans didn't get behind the team more when we scored, just added to a nervous atmosphere for the players by sitting in silence.

You're wrong there.

It's all my fault.

Sorry.

Time wasting for the last 10 minutes didn't do it for me Ollie when you visited us with QPR a couple of years ago, and still doesn't now.

You're bang on Mark.

C-Man and Flynny will disagree with me but we blew it big time.

We changed our mentality when we scored and it cost us. When you start holding it in the corner it makes us lazy. Charlton sensed we were trying to sit back and it made them come onto us. We had that game won but a stupid mentality cost us the 3 points.

Well I would have taken a point pre match so not too bad. Obviously disappointed as we conceded a last minute equaliser, but all in all i'm not that angry.

I thought we played well and they did not look like scoring. I cannot knock the players for their effort either.

Holloway does look as if he is on the way to getting our players to play with some drive and determination which is great to see.

Argh Ben I blame you. "Paddy Mccarthy's only scored once at the Walkers". Thanks.

As for the game, we definitely deserved the win and Charlton were there for the taking. We've just thrown away two points against the 5th placed team in the league, not good when you're in our position.

Well if you don't a random football stat every now and again, don't stand near me.

But yeah, whoops.

Absolutely shitty first half both teams were piss poor with silly little fouls aided and abetted by a nit picking referee and a linesman who didn't have mind of his own. Did we actually see more than 5 minutes of football.

Second half marginally better again neither team impressed at all and it looked like whoever scored first would win but no I forgot it happened to be us that scored so no win there.

Will this punishment ever end?

Cheer up! It wasn't that bad! Although I agree about the ref and linesman.......

Just listened to OH on sky he mentioned:

That we forgot too attack when we led and is the same old negativity that is symptomatic of this place (Leicester City).

Some have the wrong mindset at the moment, he hope to change that when he brings players in and who want to play for Leicester City

:nono: Strange that, because actually it was the complete opposite. Perhaps you just had your radio turned down.......

A draw was a fair result but its always disappointing to conceded a late goal. It was a shocking game of football with both sides cancelling each other out, the standard of the Championship this year is absolutely abysmal. A shame it had to be McCarthy who scored, he didnt seem to celebrate either.

After the Hull debacle I couldnt see where our next point was going to come from so to get 5 since then is good, any points we gain with this current squad is a bonus.

Fair play to Holloway for realising he made a mistake playing Kenton right midfield and changing it quite early, admittedly he shouldnt of done it in the first place but atleast he changed it.

Gutted but will probably look back at it as a good point

points arent getting us anywhere at the minute, we need wins and i expect nothing less than a win at QPR...

Good performance. Took the game to them in the 2nd half and were unlucky to concede in the manner that we did.

To be fair, shouldn't have been trying to run the clock down with 5 minutes left.

Best part of the day was robbing the famous E3 sign and snapping it. It will be framed on my wall.

You may be dissapointed there in good form at the minute

Was it fook. Both teams were pretty shite first half but second half we were much the better side. Thought Fryatt was at the centre of a lot of our good play today. Didn't get many decisions going his way (not like the tw@ Iwelumo!) but fought for everything and linked the play excellently.

I thought the fans were excellent when we were one up, don't know who said we were quiet. I'm not going to knock Fulop- after all the times he's got us out of the shit this season- just wish it wasn't that little shite McCarthy who got the equaliser!

I see it as 11 players against 11 players... Why arent we capable of beating them?

We are capable of beating them but i dont think should expect a win away at a in form qpr side

Frustrating, why on earth did we try to keep the ball in the corner, bad mistake.

I was down that end and I don't know what Clem did to concede a foul, he was just shielding the ball in my eyes, terrible decision.

Did anyone applaud McCarthy when he came over and clapped the leicester fans in the family stand and L1 i was sitting in the Kop so i didnt have to make a decision whether to applaud him or not

He was wearing Kisnorbo's shirt as well.

No I didn't and didn't see anyone else doing it either.

I don't know who's managing the team but if Ollie was responsible for our change of tactics once we'd scored he wants shooting.

Talking about wilfully shooting ourselves in the foot.

If my neighbour in the stands had accepted my £10 to a five bet I could at least have made some moeny from it cos that's what I offered as a bet that Charlton would score the moment I saw us pissing about with that corner two minutes from time.

Instead of just simply flighting the ball into the box and giving ourselves the chance of a second goal we idiotically and unsuccessfully tried to waste time as if we haven't come unstuck time and time again with such negativity.

It was only against Wolves that I said how naive we were to stop defending from the front, stop maintaining our tempo and stop putting pressure on their defenders by continuing to push up.

The reason we got ahead against Charlton was because we stopped them getting forward and into our box. As soon as we took the lead we went 4-5-1, conceded ground, crowded the defensive area and started making the stupid and totally unnecessary mistakes that allowed them back into the game.

City's penalty box was suddenly crowded like a party on New Year's Eve.

Whennnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn will the message EVER get through. It is not obligatory that we concede tactical own goals and those two points we donated to Charlton today could well get us relegated in time. Totally unforgiveable.

I started applauding him because he was in a leicester shirt and stopped when I realised he wasn't one of our players. That free kick that the linesman gave against clemence in the corner was a terrible decision, he just shielded the ball. We should have tried to score from that corner anyway and not TRY TO timewaste as it led to their goal.

Overall, even though very disappointed with the result, it was a much improved performance and you can see how much conceding that goal meant to the players, which I hadn't seen before ollie came in
