Nugent Posted 12 October 2008 Posted 12 October 2008 Watched the re-run earlier,. Great drives from Alonso and Kubica today.
sdb Posted 12 October 2008 Posted 12 October 2008 it was strange to have a 1st corner incident lead to a penalty but it was fair imo. the Bourdais decision was painfully desperate from the FIA however
Lovejoy Posted 12 October 2008 Posted 12 October 2008 I await the abuse for saying this , but I wasn't at all upset to see Massa crash into Hamilton and make him spin. Hamilton drives in a very similar style to Michael Schumacher, yet Schuey was dirty, and Lewis is competitive (apparently). Oh, and how good was it not having Steve Rider bumming out Hamilton before the race?

Asha Posted 12 October 2008 Posted 12 October 2008 The biased Ferrari fan that I am, I really can't see what the big deal is with Hamilton's driving style. It's not completely reckless in any way and I don't personally have a problem with it. Maybe slightly aggressive, but this is the most high-profile motor sport in the world...surely if they all drove textbook, boring style it would be total shite? It really pisses me off when the FIA keep docking Hamilton and boosting Ferrari in whatever way because it's sweet for me for Ferrari to beat Hamilton on the track, through either Kimi or Felipe being the better driver on the day. Makes it completely hollow. Massa could now have the two most blinding drives in history and take the title, only for everyone to say Hamilton was robbed and Massa didn't deserve it. True as it maybe, the stewards are ruining the sport. As I said earlier, just about every contact is resulting in a penalty now. This isn't racing.

You can't compare Schumacher with Hamilton in my book, one is brilliant multi-world champion and the other is simply an idiotic boy. I eagerly await the next installment of Lewis Hamilton's guide "how to throw away a world championship".

Asha Posted 12 October 2008 Posted 12 October 2008 Schumacher sort of threw the 97 championship away, albeit Villeneuve was going through anyway.
dandannieldanok Posted 12 October 2008 Posted 12 October 2008 What a stupid thing to say.Idiotic boy? Get a grip. It is an opinion, the whole nation would disagree with me but that's what I think. This will be the best chance Hamilton is likely to get in his career to win the championship given the lack of formidable competition yet just like last year stupid risky decisions are costing him. I want him to win but I just find it ridiculous at how he's throwing it away. If he had his head screwed on at the start and just accepted he got away slowly he would have cruised to a podium and probably have realistically ended Massa's hopes.
dandannieldanok Posted 12 October 2008 Posted 12 October 2008 why do so many brits want the best driver we have produced in years to fail? Where have I said that? No need to make things up.
Asha Posted 12 October 2008 Posted 12 October 2008 This will be the best chance Hamilton is likely to get in his career to win the championship Hmmm, I'd disagree. He's very young and I think he'll at least get a few titles during his career.
dandannieldanok Posted 12 October 2008 Posted 12 October 2008 Hmmm, I'd disagree. He's very young and I think he'll at least get a few titles during his career. You would hope so but further down the grid drivers as young but with a more competent style like Kubica and Vettel are going to get more competitive cars and unless Hamilton adapts, they will punish his mistakes.
Brainy Posted 12 October 2008 Author Posted 12 October 2008 Getting up early is usually worth it because Hamilton usually wins or get's pole position. Next week better be bloody worth it. My body clock is ****ed up enough as it is.
Lovejoy Posted 12 October 2008 Posted 12 October 2008 why do so many brits want the best driver we have produced in years to fail? I don't hate LH, I hate the way ITV base their coverage around him (Steve Rider in particular), not the sport as a whole. When he first arrived in Formula 1 I wouldn't hear a word said against him, but the bummage has got too much.
billabob Posted 13 October 2008 Posted 13 October 2008 why do so many brits want the best driver we have produced in years to fail? Why? Your mean other than because he is a d**k cheese whose arrogance is worse than that of M.S. I don't want him to fail, i just hate him, it's also a good judge of the sports followers, you find his fans are all new and just Hamilton fans and those that dislike him have been fans for many many many years before he came into the sport. Would a nice guy really dump his long term girlfriend because it would be to difficult to be apart then go anf have his way with the pussy cat dolls gal, who lets be fair, is gonna be away more than his girlfriend would have!!!!! Don't get me wrong he has had some brilliant races but i don't want to watch England play football and hear about him, i don't want every news article on F1 to compare to him or every article on non sports to somehow relate back to him, i don't want to hear all about his dad. i want to watch F1 as a fan and enjoy the racing, not hear his name every other sentance. Lewis Hamiliton is a B*ll**d in my opionion. Let the abuse begin!

I admit I rarely knew of him before he got into F1, I wasn't really the biggest F1 fan either, I just watched the first few laps and then did something else. But i'm not one of these fans who'd blame what he did at Canada this year on somebody else, blame the team 100% for what he did at China last year, accuse Alonso of deliberately braking at Bahrain etc.
Jimmy Posted 13 October 2008 Posted 13 October 2008 Where have I said that? No need to make things up. not you specifically but so many people want him to fail, WHY?
Brainy Posted 13 October 2008 Author Posted 13 October 2008 Fernando Alonso has said he will do what he can to help Ferrari's Felipe Massa beat Lewis Hamilton to the Formula One title after winning the last two grands prix for Renault.Good old Nando "Yes, without doubt. If I can help, I will help Massa," the double world champion said after Sunday's victory in Japan. Alonso, whose win at Fuji came two weeks after his surprise triumph in Singapore, fell out with championship leader Hamilton in an ill-fated 2007 season alongside the Briton at McLaren. The Spaniard, who has been persistently linked to an eventual move to Ferrari, could become a factor in this year's title showdown if he continues to challenge for the podium in the remaining two races. The 27-year-old has now scored more points (35) than any other driver in the six races since the German Grand Prix in July. Hamilton has taken 26 and Massa 25 in the same period. Hamilton is five points clear of Brazilian Massa, whose team-mate and world champion Kimi Raikkonen is now out of contention, with only this weekend's race in China and the season-ender in Brazil still to come. Massa, a favourite to win his home race in Sao Paulo, ideally needs a Ferrari one-two in Shanghai with Alonso rounding out the podium to make the necessary inroads into Hamilton's tally. BMW-Sauber's Robert Kubica is the third man left in the title hunt, 12 points off Hamilton - and before the race criticised the Briton's driving style. Raikkonen returned to the podium on Sunday for the first time since Hungary in August, ending a run of four races without a point, but many Brazilians suspect he may not be Massa's strongest ally on the racetrack. Alonso and resurgent Renault may be of more assistance. "We are now maybe just behind Ferrari and McLaren and this is completely amazing," said the Spaniard, whose team were struggling just to score points at the start of the year. In the same news conference at Fuji, his enduring hostility towards McLaren and Hamilton was evident when the top three drivers were asked whether it was right for the Briton to have been handed a drive-through penalty for his start. "I agree," Alonso said immediately, while Kubica and Raikkonen both said they did not have a clear enough picture to comment. "I don't know what he did," the race winner said later. "But it's good he's punished anyway." What an absolute **** this guy is.
shen Posted 13 October 2008 Posted 13 October 2008 What an absolute **** this guy is. It's a childish way to react, but surely that's a sign that he was REALLY being given inferior treatment at McLaren when Hamilton came.
Jimmy Posted 13 October 2008 Posted 13 October 2008 It's a childish way to react, but surely that's a sign that he was REALLY being given inferior treatment at McLaren when Hamilton came. or he has an inferiority complex and can't handle having a team mate that can beat him regularly
Lovejoy Posted 13 October 2008 Posted 13 October 2008 It's a childish way to react, but surely that's a sign that he was REALLY being given inferior treatment at McLaren when Hamilton came. It was interesting hearing what David Coulthard and 1 or 2 others have said recently about the way Ron Dennis runs that team. Apparently RD always picks one of the drivers as the one he's going to back (LH in this case). DC said when the team would sit down before the race to discuss it, Dennis would sit with "his" driver and make the other feel completely left out. He'd even refer to it as "what we're going to do, how about you?" Dennis then talks to "his" driver over the radio during the race as well as his race engineer. Anyway, if a bit childish, Alonso is the best driver in F1 imo. There a few potential stars, but he is the best right now.

shen Posted 13 October 2008 Posted 13 October 2008 or he has an inferiority complex and can't handle having a team mate that can beat him regularly Well if the team is backing one driver (a rookie) and not the other (who in this case happened to be DOUBLE world champion), you can't blame Alonso feeling a bit miffed. A total lack of respect towards a defending world champion. Besides, why would he otherwise be so bitter now that LH's not his teammate anymore?
