McCarthy lost his job as the Stig most probably due to him revealing he was the Stig in his biography. The New white Stig from Top Gear series 3 onwards is more than likely a character who is played by more than one person due to the different types of vehicle he is given to drive. Given the evidence i would suggest that the Stig's identities are former F1 driver Julian Bailey, Test driver, Touring Car driver, or specialist driver like Dan Lang. I have no conclusive evidence, I was wondering if anyone on here does have as it is a conversation which comes up at work sometimes and I would like to have an answer!

Evidence for this is that he listed in the safety report from Hammonds crash as a 'performance test driver' and from youtube footage comparing Collins' voice to footage of Stig actually speaking which can be viewed here: http://au.youtube.com/watch?v=yeQwi-8bCEA He is also a champion GT driver which would make him ideal to do Top Gears power laps. There have also been guest stigs too. Heikki Kovalainen was the stig when they had the Renault F1 car on which makes sense as Collins has never driven an F1 car. The snow jump Stig was also a guest.
