Tommy G Posted 10 January 2008 Posted 10 January 2008 My knowledge on aeorobic fitness is limited, but what I would say it try intense swimming (not just fannying up and down the lanes at a slow pace) I mean intense. Couple that with a bike ride, either outside or exercise bike. Both these will improve your fitness dramatically. So theres your two cardio sessions in a week. In terms of loosing the flab I would say start lifting weights. There is plenty of evidence on the internet to trawl through that proves weight lifting offers more to loosing weight than cardio does. First of all after you've finished your session, your metabolism will be racing for the next 12 hours so will burn any calories that enter your body very fast. This metabolic rate cant be achieved through just aerobic exercise. That really is just very basic. oh and if your diet isnt up to scratch then all the above advice is worthless, you will just fail. Diet really is 60% of it, and the exercise is 40% As for gym I think they're great, people that maon about them and think they're crap is because they are embaressed to go for various reasons. if I see a fat guy in the gym then I will think in my mind, ''fair play he is trying to put it right'' not ''haha he's fat, unlucky'' that most people think.
Alexikokopops Posted 10 January 2008 Posted 10 January 2008 Personally I don't see much point in a gym unless you're going to do some weights. I love running outside.
Tommy G Posted 10 January 2008 Posted 10 January 2008 Personally I don't see much point in a gym unless you're going to do some weights.I love running outside. Yep correct. Running on a tredmill is very boring
Master Fox Posted 10 January 2008 Posted 10 January 2008 Yep correct. Running on a tredmill is very boring You could say it kind of grinds away at you!
Guest Posted 10 January 2008 Posted 10 January 2008 One of my sisters offered me a gym membership for Christmas. I politely steered her in a different direction. It's like volunteering for punishment block. And knowing that others are "people watching" only makes the thought of it worse. It's almost like being watched while you're on the loo. It's bad enough being out of condition without demonstrating the fact to others. Give me fresh air and solitude anytime. Human nature though. Knowing that people are taking a sneaky peak means that I concentrate on not falling off the end of the treadmill! Besides, unless you exercise in the privacy of your own home, you are always going to be in the view of the watching public. Yep correct. Running on a tredmill is very boring However, they offer better shock absorbency, and are better for your joints especially if you are having to run many miles.
blue blood Posted 10 January 2008 Posted 10 January 2008 I find the classes are quite good, motivating and they work. spinning is good esp as u like cycling,
Hullfox Posted 10 January 2008 Posted 10 January 2008 Can you recommend me a cheap bike, Daggers? Mrs Hullfox's rates are fairly reasonable.
Nationwider Posted 10 January 2008 Posted 10 January 2008 Mrs Hullfox's rates are fairly reasonable. Excellent. Is she fitted with stabilisers?
Hullfox Posted 10 January 2008 Posted 10 January 2008 Excellent. Is she fitted with stabilisers? No, twin airbags though.

Daggers Posted 11 January 2008 Author Posted 11 January 2008 No truer words. A murder trial jury was told a teenager who trained as an amateur boxer beat the disabled 23-year-old to death "for sport." I think I'll go see some rich totty getting sweaty rather than become an apprentice murderer, I'll leave that to ugly people and trainee lorry drivers
Wherethefoxhat? Posted 12 January 2008 Posted 12 January 2008 Do they work?Hideous places if you ask me but I've never been to one and I need to fast-track my fitness from purely bike riding. I need to seriously step up my aerobic performance within six months - anyone reckon I could manage it just by including swimming in my weekly schedule? NOURISHMENT not PUNISHMENT Go swimming or Have copious amoounts of knee-tremblers
